After a year of preparation, eighteen year old Raven Smith has researched and planned out every detail of her summer vacation in Europe; those plans DO NOT include boys, romance, or falling in love (definitely not the last one). But, even before the plane touches-down her well-laid plans go dreadfully off-course.
While still airborne, Raven finds a letter in her carry-on suitcase that her senile … her senile neighbor broke into her house to stash in her bag; the letter tells Raven to turn back, not to go to Europe, that an “evil agent of Hell” is looking for her and he will find her if she disregards the letter’s message.
But Raven does disregard the letter…
Almost as soon as Raven steps foot onto Rome’s streets, dark, seductive Andras starts showing up at nearly every site Raven visits; Raven finds herself drawn to Andras in a way she’s never been drawn to anyone, while at the same time… he terrifies her.
Then in comes Nicholas, an impossible-not-to-like Swedish guy, who is determined to keep Raven away from Andras…
The two guys share a dark secret. Both are determined that Raven never learns the truth. She doesn’t know who to trust, or if she should trust anyone.
If Raven frees herself from the deception twined around her… the most horrifying secret she could uncover, might be her own… her past… who she really is…and how the forces of Hell plan to use her to destroy the future…

The Deception Dance by Rita Stradling is a unique paranormal tale. In this book, Raven and her sister Linnie are supposed to go on a two person tour of Europe. However, to Raven’s surprise and dismay Linnie’s college roommate invites herself along on the trip. This story has many surprising twists and turns with quite the surprise ending. I loved this book! The Deception Dance is a surprising suspense filled paranormal story.
Raven is interesting to read about. So much going on at first it was a little hard to follow(I did not know it was part of a series) but it was definitely a great book! I love how her sister calls her Birdie. LOL Lots going on within the story and a definite need to be read!

This story is a bit of a take it or leave it for me. It was slow moving, with key elements suddenly thrown into the story with little or no context (ex, Raven gets nosebleeds if she kisses boys then some quickly told reason about her thinking she was cursed??). Throughout the book Raven seems to like Nicholas, but doesn’t? but then at the end she liked Stephen? I don’t know. There were characters that really served no purpose other than to clutter up the plot and slow the progression of the book down (Tobias Jr). Overall, it’s a storyline with potential but could use some work.

This hooked me from the start! A well written story of good and evil, of love and deception, passion and infatuation as well as pain and misery. The storyline though slow to start as it was setting up the background is full of action, magic, suspense, drama and twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat! A great start and I cannot wait to read the next instalment!
I thought that this was a very enticing start to this series. It is only book one of three, so be prepared for a cliffhanger. I found the characters intriguing. Raven was very likable. She felt realistic to me but she also had a unique feel to her that I found easy to connect with. Andras and Nicholas each held their own appeal but there is still much to learn about them. I found the storyline to be quite gripping with its complex blend of drama, action, romance, magic, suspense, danger, adventure and twists. As this battle between good & evil is just getting started, there are plenty of unanswered questions and I for one am looking forward to learning more in the next book.
Well written characters, action, twists that you never expect, romance, betrayal, and an overall good story that should be made into a series or movie.
I recommend this book.
Deception Dance draws the reader into an unpredictable world where a simple trip to Europe leads to the discovery of a dark past that pulls Raven and her sister into a world and fight that they never could have imagined. You soon become invested in Raven’s life and survival, she is naive, kind and willing to fight for what she wants, there are both good and evil love interests in her life and you are often torn as to who you want her to be with. The three male protagonists in this book are all strong, but very different, characters. Each is appealing in their own way and they all have somewhat of an air of sadness about them that pushes you to overlook their shortcomings. The plot is intricate and there is no way you can guess or predict where the story will lead, as the author pulls along through the various twists and turns of this intriguing good vs evil tale.
An amazing story that will keep you coming back for more!! If you love books about angels and demons this books is for you. Definitely a book I didn’t want to put down!! Now only wish there was more .
I was so close to tears when I finished the story. It was an awesome one and one of good and evil. I was so engrossed in the story was staying up all night to finish it till I just could not keep my eyes open. Don’t miss this one. It is short but so much is written in the pages that you feel your part of it.
