Jack Winchester was a notorious hitman for a ruthless New Jersey crime family until a job went wrong, and he wound up serving time. Four years later, Jack is free and he wants out of the game, but his boss won’t let him go. Forced to take on one last job to make amends for what landed him in prison, he travels to the small town of Rockland Cove, Maine. There, he not only discovers that the target … discovers that the target and money have disappeared; he finds himself falling for a damaged woman, and befriending an unruly son left behind.
Under mounting pressure from his boss and local police—as well as the ghosts of his past—he must unravel the mystery and decide where his loyalties lie…before it’s too late.
Note: Even though there is a book 2. This is a full standalone novel with a complete ending.

I liked the book.
I enjoyed it and purchased next one in series
A great read
Wow! I did not want to put this book down! If you’re looking for a book that will grab you and hold you through the whole book this is it! This is the 1st book in Jon Mills “Jack Winchester ” series, this is the 1st book of his that I have read and it will not be my last! Jack Winchester has 1 rule, he does not kill women or children….fast paced, well written with characters that you come to know and care about. Thanks Jon Mills for an excellent way to spend my weekend!
Usually I don’t side with a contract killer. But, unfortunately, I know people who have undergone similar transformations from a life of crime, and this book rang true.
This book started out very good but it slowed down when he went to Maine.
If your taste runs to Mob-related plots, this could be a book for you. He tells a good story but a bit gory for me.
It held my interest even though I felt it wasn’t realistic.
Twist on bad-guy turns good-guy, win’s girl and lives happily ever after.
Easy read, not really that interesting for me. It was really easy to solve the mystery of the missing money.
A good read, enjoyed the story and the characters, will definitely read this author again.
It’s not often the bad guy is really trying to be a good guy. Someone who has killed people for a living shouldn’t be the one you hope comes out on top. But that’s the case with this Debt Collector.
Finished it in one day, good book
Good read.
Jack Winchester is a bad dude, a killer, just out of prison and wanting to change his life – he wants out, no more killing. But, the big boss drags him back into the crime world. Just one more hit job they tell him and he can then walk away, he knows that is a lie. The rest is an interesting read that I found enjoyable, hope you do too.
What a great book. I could not put it dow.
This is a great book, entertaining and well scripted.
Big City Bad-Guy meets Small Town America. Mob connections reaching into small town America. Plenty of action and Suspense!
Good vs. Evil
Boring
Good read ..good story line
