Jack Winchester was a notorious hitman for a ruthless New Jersey crime family until a job went wrong, and he wound up serving time. Four years later, Jack is free and he wants out of the game, but his boss won’t let him go. Forced to take on one last job to make amends for what landed him in prison, he travels to the small town of Rockland Cove, Maine. There, he not only discovers that the target … discovers that the target and money have disappeared; he finds himself falling for a damaged woman, and befriending an unruly son left behind.
Under mounting pressure from his boss and local police—as well as the ghosts of his past—he must unravel the mystery and decide where his loyalties lie…before it’s too late.
Note: Even though there is a book 2. This is a full standalone novel with a complete ending.
more
Has a lot going for it; the chance with the lady, the need for growth and redemption, the husky, interaction with the kid, the scenic town, the twists, dealing with the bad people.
Looking forward to volume 2.
very enjoyable
Good book!
It was fast paced and well written.
Kept me reading.
Great and exciting read. Really enjoyed reading this book.
Not a great read, but not bad. I liked the story line, but couldn’t quite fit the character as a former hitman known as the butcher. Better reads are out there, but this is not a waste.
Just a really good book, I couldn’t put it down. It kept you intrigued and the chapters weren’t too long just a really well written book.
Enjoyed
Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. Interesting characters, lots of action!

A good read. Really enjoyed it.
It’s an enjoyable read with interesting characters. Yes, there were mistakes, but they didn’t bother me that much.
