She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy… if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.
…and it’s going to be oh so good
All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.

I justed loved this book.
There is a lot of new adult crap. I liked the classic girl meets boy, boy kind of grows on her, boy helps girl solve some issues story, but the banter and writing were good, and the underlying issue of healing from trauma added depth to the romance.
Loved this book! One of my favorites of the hundreds of books I have read in the last 5 years!!!!
I loved this book so much I have now read the series of 4 books of off-campus. I enjoy all of Elle Kennedy’s books
Holy awesome! I loved this, entertaining and humorous. Fantastic Story!
Such a wonderful atory. I didn’t want it to end.
Just to make sure this book was as good as I thought, I had to keep reading well past midnight resulting in a very bleary morning. But oh was it worth it! I loved the banter between Hannah and Garrett, how Garrett called her out, how Hannah made him question his “relationships” (and yes that’s in parentheses because they weren’t even that. The story of both Hannah’s rape and Garrett’s abusive father, shine through and help you to understand why they both have all their baggage. Loved this book.
A lovely young adult read. Garrett and Hannah are both broken by past experiences. Their journey from tutor, to friends, to relationship is sweet and sexy.
I loved this book, I have read this several times!
I came across The Deal on Kindle after doing a search for free books as I find it’s a great way to discover new authors. After reading this beautiful 5 star story, I know this is one moment when I’ve discovered a gem and need to read more books by this amazing author.
At first, I thought The Deal was going to be your typical fun read of jock and nerd making a deal to help each other out and then falling for each other. However, as the story progressed, I realised it was so much more and I can’t get enough of books that don’t shy away from those real life sensitive topics. There’s also some laugh out loud moments weaved into the story, and I loved how Hannah and Garrett had passion between them even when bickering. I love, love, love this couple, and I’m left wanting to spend more time with them. I need to know if they achieve their dreams, and if they do it together. I also need to know what happens to Hannah’s parents and if they escaped from hell.
The Deal is one of those books that leaves you wanting to jump straight into the rest of the series, and I can’t think of a better book to start off 2019 with! I 100% recommend this book, and anything else written by this author!
The first book in a great NA series.
Wow, just wow!
This is my first book by Elle Kennedy and all I can say is that I am truly blown away. The story, characters, writing created a flawless piece that is truly a pleasure to read.
Garrett Graham is your typical bad boy ice hockey captain – with the good looks, dimpled smile, hot bod, and surprisingly a solid head on his shoulder that our heroine Hannah Wells eventually finds out. They meet in Ethics by chance when he fails and she sails through with an A plus. A coercion to tutor him so that he can help her with her social status to nab the captain of the football team brings this unlikely couple together where they discover that underneath the stereotypical image of the dumb jock and the nerdy nerd lies two people with past traumas, flaws, and a tenacity to succeed and make a name of themselves.
The story contains two major triggers that both characters go through. And Ms Kennedy has portraited them beautifully where both characters come out of them stronger and with a strength to move forward and not be victims of the past. Yes, they both have residual traumas, but their characters complimented eachother and helped eachother to move on.
Honestly, the story read flawlessly and I can truly picture this being a Netflix drama. I am super eager to read about the rest of the secondary characters to see what happens to each one of them!
So one of the problems I had with this book is the slut shaming! In the story we are told that Hannah was raped and this follows Hannah regaining her sexual intimacy and feeling that is okay for her to have sex again and let someone in again. I thought all that was great, Hannah was not slut shamed at all, my problem was Hannah was so quick to judge and slut shame other girls yet they couldn’t be as sexually liberated as she was. I get that we all sometimes are quick to judge, I feel like for Hannah a girl who has been raped would understand that girls can be sexually liberated and not be sluts. Just the topic in this book it wasn’t necessary to slut shame the other females in this book.
My other problem with this book, not really a problem but I felt like should have maybe been done in this book is Hannah fighting the demons of her hometown, we see Garret facing his. Sure Hannah did face hers but it would have been nice if she could have gone home to her family with her head held up high saying that she was innocent. Especially as so many times in society, the girls are seen as criminals and in this story, she was seen as an innocent to everyone at the college. I just wish that she had a chance to go to her hometown and face the demons. Not so much bad but more something that I wish was included.
Now onto the good things.
I loved Hannah other than the slut shaming, I loved the fact she was so willing to let Garret help her when it came to her sexual dysfunction as she called it in this book. I thought she was very judgemental when it came to Garret she brushed him with a man whore brush without giving a chance to really help him or tutor him. Luckily Garret was very persistent. A few times I found her to be very stuck up but I was very happy that she did have flaws and she wasn’t seen as some perfect woman because she wasn’t. She had her flaws and I loved that.
Garret. My baby. I fell in love with him almost immediately. I loved his humour and the flirty. I had to say I jumped to conclusions with him and I felt terrible. It was after Hannah and Garret got together and everything was great and you always know like most NA books something is going to happen. I assumed it was going to be Garret’s fault immediately and I felt so terrible when it wasn’t him that did it. If you’ve read you know what I mean but damn did I feel bad. Anyway, I loved his character, his background, I really enjoyed his character.
I loved the chemistry that Garret and Hannah have for stories the chemistry is always so important for me. I fell in love with their relationship so fast and I just loved them both so much they gave me all the feels. I have to say the sex scenes were written very well and although I’ve had conversations with my friends Gabby and Emer about the frequency of sex in this book and for me I didn’t think it was a lot and there was a fine amount and it didn’t bother me. I know both Gabby and Emer felt at times it was too frequent and pretty much straight after each other but I had no problem and I loved it!
I loved the side characters, Dean should learn to knock! There’s a certain place in this book where I literally wanted to scream at Dean for not locking or actually Garret for not having a lock on his door! I loved Beau, I really enjoyed this chapter. To be honest I loved all the side characters which is why I know for a fact I will be reading the other books in this series and I can’t wait until I get to dive in and read them!
I loved The Deal! I devoured the entire book with a big smile on my face. The main characters Garrett and Hannah have awesome chemistry. They are both endearing and funny. The story was entertaining and addictive. I couldn’t put the book down. It’s one book I’m planning to re-read. I highly recommend it!
Everyone has a few books they read over and over and this is one of mine.
I absolutely loved this book. I’m a sucker for a hockey hunk, and even more for one who’s a little jealous. I really enjoyed the real-life problems the characters have. There is a bit of angst wrapped up in the romance, and it’s a very satisfying read. This whole series is fantastic!
I initially didn’t want to read this book because of the whole “fake dating”, but finally decided to give it a chance because of high rating/great reviews. (THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE REVIEWS!!)
I really loved it, I was having a readers block but was pulled right out of it when I started this book. This book was really good, the writing was smooth, and it had a steady pace. Both Hannah and Garrett conquered my heart, loved how Hannah didn’t let her baggage define her. It was so awesome how Hannah said NO so many times and Garrett just didnt give up. Garrett is definitely a swoonworthy book boyfriend. He was just perfect, seriously I nothing negative to say about him.
He went after what he wanted, and wasn’t afraid to show emotions. This book was really refreshing. I haven’t read any college NA books lately but after The Deal I am kind of excited to read a few of them. Also a book with the whole fake dating sounds really good (I’ll check listopia for recommendations). I also loved Garrett friends, they are really funny, and I am looking forward to reading about them. This is a must-read book – come on people look at the ratings!!!
Such a funny and sexy story. I really loved the down to earth Hannah and the self assured Garrett. Together they created fireworks. This book had everything I want in a contemporary romance.
This is the first one I have read from this author and just really loved this book. Couldn’t put it down, that’s how good this was. I loved the story and the lead characters. Hannah and Gareth, great couple. I laughed and even cried with the story. Absolutely a must read and oh so an enjoyable read. Really worth it.
I really enjoyed this book! The banter between Garrett and Hannah was great. Can I just say, I loved Garrett’s ego. No really, I did. Besides having to sleep and do “life”, I would’ve read this all in one day. To me, it hands down kept my interest and I didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait for Logan’s book!
