She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy… if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.
…and it’s going to be oh so good
All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.

Loved this book! The depth of Hannah and Garrett was amazing! You can see so much more to them than stereotypes. The trust and emotions that author pulls from you is crazy. You trust the characters to listen and grow with each other. Yet, the emotional rollercoaster that both characters go through leave you anxious and full of suspense. Highly recommend!
I wasn’t expecting much from another college fake-relationship trope but actually loved this story. Hannah and Garrett seem like opposites at first, but end up having lots in common. They both have traumatic pasts and live secrets because of it, so it was really sweet when they started opening up to each other. Hannah is strong and determined, but life hasn’t been kind to her at all. She’s a survivor though and has already dealt with her past, mostly. There’s still one big obstacle in her way but Garrett is the support system she needs to finally overcome it.
Garrett’s slightly annoying at first but turns out to be one of the sweetest guys, even though Hannah’s kind of rough on him at first. She’s pretty snarky but she’s busy, stressed and protecting herself so it felt realistic. Once they start getting closer, the banter is awesome and this is a pretty funny book consider there’s some heavy topics in the story. One of the things I really enjoyed is that these characters have baggage but they’re not defined by their past. It’s not holding them prisoner or ruling their lives. This gives the characters a lot of depth without focusing all the attention on their problems, so it’s a nice balance.
These two are interesting and likeable enough that I’d read more so I hope to get more Hannah and Garrett in the rest of the series. They’re both funny and sarcastic and they talk like real couples. The supporting cast was great, so I’m looking forward to the rest of the series, especially because one of Garrett’s friends seems to have a huge crush on Hannah so I’m curious to see how he deals with it since it was unresolved when this story ended.
I loved this book the way Garrett loved Hannah’s stripper tits. That is all.
The only reason the doesn’t get a 5 star is because of all of the slut shaming, but that’s just my two cents
Love Elle Kennedy! Really enjoyed this book. Great summer read!
All I can say is wow. Though this book had a lot of great reviews I was still not sure since I have read previous College theme books and the reviews giving did not live up to what I read. With this book it definitely lived up to expectations. Hannah is recovering rape survivor who is now a college student living her life. After two failed relationships she is convinced that she will never see past her rape ordeal to have a normal relationship. Just went she is comfortable have a mundane life she meets Garrett the star of the hockey theme at Briars. He has failed his Ethics test and is afraid he will be thrown of the team and so begs Hannah or Wellsy as he calls her to tutor him. At first she’s not interested but then they make a bargain she tutors him to get a better grade and he will show her how to get to the hot football player Justin she has a crush on. At first thought this book looks like another opposite attract love story but its so much more than that. There are the scenes when Hannah shares with Garrett how broken she feels after her rape and he shares how him and his mother were abuse by his father. A truly great read thoroughly enjoyed.
Love books about hockey. The whole series written by Elle Kennedy is a page-turner. I warmly recommand The Deal.
Such a good book! I rarely write reviews but this book had me intrigued, grinning and laugh and so shocked and worried!! I was almost in tears at one point, I’ll admit it started a bit slow but quickly picked up and it was so worth sticking it out, I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
I enjoyed it very much.
Another good story and another terrific author!
I enjoyed this book, and the connection the characters have.
This book took me on a ride full of laughter, tears, fun and romance.
It tells the story of Hannah who has a huge crush on a football player. Having crushes like this is a big deal for her because she doesn’t get mushy over a boy very often. Our main man is Garret, who is lacking behind in his classes and he desperately needs Hannah to tutor him. He is ready to do anything in return.
When Garret suggests he dates Hannah to help get her crush’s attention, she just cannot refuse. With this they began to spend more and more time together and lines started getting blurred.
I loved their connection and chemistry so much. It is so beautifully written. Their banter was hilarious, their friendship was fun and their romance was so damn hot.
It was an amazing start to the series and got me excited for the rest of the character’s stories too.
This book made my heart melt. It can be read as a standalone but of course is a part of a series, each book a different character from the first book. Book two is Logan. I loved this story. It made me happy the whole time. I knew after the deal was arranged it was going to go where it went but you know what, I don’t even care. I loved their interactions, their character, the love development and how much they are willing to sacrifice for each other. Garrett is a great guy that had to overcome obstacles that Hannah helps him with. Trigger warning, there are some sensitive things about Hannah that are discussed in the book but as someone who has gone through those things, I feel like they were handled with the utmost care. Garrett also helps Hannah work through those problems. This book is also extremely funny. I ‘witch cackled’ into the morning at two paragraphs that were just the absolute best. I even texted pictures of those paragraphs to my boyfriend and friends. I want to make sure you understand that I laughed for a good couple minutes and each time I tried to restart the reading process; I just started all over again. Eventually I got control of myself but oh my god that was hilarious. This book is also really hot and steamy and I wouldn’t recommend it for young readers. I do however, highly recommend this book for adult romance readers and if I could give it more stars I would.
I loved this book! I honestly am having trouble moving on to the next book in the series because I need more Hannah and Garrett!!!
The Deal is a real page-turner. This was one of the first books I had ever read from the Romance genre, and I truly loved it. Garrett and Hannah are both inspirational characters and defy the stereotypes they are assigned to. The two have the sweetest story with an original plot, if you are looking for a sweet, intense love story, I would definitely read this book. The Deal is one of my favorite books I have ever read.
Hannah Wells has a past she can’t escape from. She wants to date Justin, the football player but Garrett, the captain of the hockey team, needs a tutor. Garrett agrees to be her pretend date to make her more desirable to Justin. But Garett realizes that he has feelings for Hannah. But can he convince Hannah that he is the man for her?
This was a good story. Kennedy weaved several subplots through the novel and brought them all together at the end beautifully. I loved the male protagonist, Garrett, and he has now joined the ranks of my many, many book boyfriends. If you want a steamy story that isn’t too dark or too light, this is a good pick.
*4-4.5 Stars*
I’ve been meaning to get to this book on my kindle for ages. I enjoyed this one. Hannah and Garrett have quite the connection, even if it starts off with a lot of bickering. Garrett pursues what he wants, and when he finally wears Hannah down to help him out, the bond they begin to form is really great.
I enjoyed getting to know these two characters, along with their friends, and I loved how they helped each other through. Their inevitable issue is one I’ve read about a few times before, but it wasn’t too frustrating for me overall. I also liked how they dealt with some of the really adult and serious issues raised in the book.
There were plenty of things I liked about this book, but I’m not in a review writing space right now, so I’m keeping it short and sweet. I look forward to continuing this series and I would recommend.
My absolute favorite Elle Kennedy book ever, and possibly my favorite new adult book ever. This is my go-to recommendation for anyone who likes or is looking for a college romance.
This book had every college relationship cliche imaginable but they were done so well that I wish this was my life when I was in college. And with a HEA no less! This is definitely a re-read for me! I wish my relationships worked out as well as Wellsy’s did!
Omg her grandma was referenced a number of times! I didn’t even realize until I went back! HAHA I love it! It is so funny during the sexy scenes that I just lose it!
“Garrett purses his lips Sort of like the way my grandma does when she’s deep in thought. It’s kind of adorable. But he’d probably kill me if I told him he just reminded me of my grandmother.” nook pg 67
“Tough cookies? What are you my grandmother? ”
“Does she say tough cookies?” -194
“Now can we please stop talking about your grandmother, Ms. Mood Killer?” -195
“Tell me about your grandmother again.”
“Now?” -2
Oh my goodness, this was a quick read for me and I loved every second of it! The slow burns, the strong chemistry and oh the feels in my chest, the aching feeling I couldn’t shake off! I even got giddy that I was rolling around in bed like an excited fan girl! the witty and snarky comback these characters jab at eachother were so funny I LOL.
Also the steaminess I couldnt get enough of it, I had to take a shower (hope I’m not the only one who admits this ) I really really loved this book that I wish I had a physical copy of it now! I want to thank 2 of my friends for recommending me this book!
I can’t wait to read book two
The Deal is the first novel in the Off-campus series and it follows the story of Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham. While Hannah has eyes on another guy, Garrett will do everything in his power to have her tutor him. He knows that if he doesn’t improve his grade, he will not be able to play hockey anymore. But what can a hockey player give to her? A fake date to rise the curiosity from the man Hannah really wants to date. But guess what, things didn’t go according to plan…
I love stories where the romance feels natural, where we don’t need “signs” to know what a great love story it’s going to be and with Garrett and Hannah it felt like that. The Deal is not only an amazing sport romance, it also talks about really important themes, but it does that without putting the character in the “victim” category. Garett and Hannah lift each other up to be able to overcome their past. However, this book is not only about that, it is hilarious and so swoon worthy. With this first novel, Elle Kennedy puts the Off-Campus series directly in the top 10 of my favourite sports romance novels.
