She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy… if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.
…and it’s going to be oh so good
All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.

Who knew lying could be so endearing? Chase has so many issues in his past, but that just makes his fall into love that much more scintillating.
I loved this book. Hannah and Garrett may be one of my favorite New Adult couples. I truly loved witnessing how their relationship progressed from Hannah not wanting to be bothered by him, to Garrett not giving up, to their friendship and of course them falling in love. How can you not fall in love? Both Hannah and Garrett are amazing characters who have dealt with tragic situations that have shaped their lives. However, because they developed such an amazing friendship they were able to trust each other with their most intimate secrets. This allowed them to see who each other really was changing their perspective of one another and not being able to stop falling in love for each other.
Hannah and Garrett were hilarious. Their banter kept me going. Even during their intimate moments their conversations were hilarious. That’s how you know you’ve found the one -when you allow yourself to be the real you. I loved the rest of the guys too, Logan, Dean and Tucker. I loved how their friendship with Hannah and her friends developed. This is one of those stories that keeps you wanting to know more but it also makes you angry at some points. I hate what Hannah’s parents are going through and my heart breaks for them. At the same time I hate – HATE – Garrett’s dad.
More than a love story, this is a story about friendship and learning to trust who you least expect to. I loved this book and am immediately starting the next one in the series.

This was so f*ckingly beautiful and absolutely AMAHZING!
Hannah Wells got her eyes on Justin, a football player and her classmate in Ethics. She definitely wanted to hook up with him, until a juicy proposition came from her another classmate, Garrett Graham. After Hannah aced her midterm exams, Garrett asked her to tutor him so he could pass the rest of the semester and still continue playing for the hockey team. And that deal involved a pretend date with the ice hockey team captain nonetheless.
You’d think Garrett was a pompous guy who thought he could easily persuade Hannah. Truth is, Garrett could use some solace for the hurdle he had with his father. Everyone thought having a superstar hockey dad was all bliss and pride. Nope. If only people knew what a fine specimen his father was.. (insert sarcasm and snickers here). But Hannah’s also got a secret of her own, a past that led her out of Indiana and prevented her from seeing her parents again. My heart crushed at Hannah’s rape, the thought that her rapist used his influence and wealth to turn the tables and accuse her of being a harlot. Thus affecting her notion and feelings about sex and relationships.
I enjoyed the story as a whole. Garrett was actually sweet and charming despite the notorious reputation he’d been known of. A hockey player, a ladies man, a bed warmer, a real playboy in the dating game. But when he’s with Hannah, all those attributes were mere lies. Because there was more than meets the eye when it came to Garrett. He was actually admirable. The banter between these two were to watch out for. I liked their camaraderie and chemistry, whenever they’re together, you just can’t help but root for them. I liked that their relationship was hard earned, they started as friends and cultivated that friendship into something precious.
I also liked Hannah because even if she was a blundering mess to begin with, she stayed true to her character and was also passionate about her music. And she was really cool with Garrett and the rest of the team. A real cowgirl and a winner in my book! Elle Kennedy is the bomb! I am definitely now one of her million followers slash readers slash fangirls!
Sometimes I feel a little funny about how much I love college romances, since I’m well past “college age” now and even when I was younger I didn’t actually go to college… but I do love them. And I place the blame for that addiction solely on Elle Kennedy’s shoulders.
I picked up The Deal and fell in love immediately. Garrett and Hannah are genuine characters. They aren’t flawless, flat characters, but real people with flaws and negative aspects to them. I enjoyed watching them progress and learn to really trust each other.
There were times where I laughed, and times that I felt so bad for one of the characters. There was NOT a time where I was bored or wishing the story was done already. The sexy scenes were well done too 😉
I even went and watched some hockey clips, although I think I’d still prefer to read about hockey players instead of watching hockey in real life…
I absolutely loved this book. Once I picked it up, I was doomed. There was no putting it down, I was physically incapable of doing so and even if I were capable of putting it down, I simply didn’t want to. I don’t think there is any higher praise I can give this author, I read the book in one sitting because it was THAT good.
Garrett and Hannah were great well rounded characters. They were so beautifully written I found myself wishing they went to my college so we could all be BFFL’s. Their banter was great and I often found myself laughing at the things they said to one another. The other characters in the story were also great. I loved that they weren’t just one dimensional prop characters they added to my enjoyment of the story without stealing the spotlight from Hannah and Garrett.
Hannah and Garrett both had very real emotional scars and the author handled these issues beautifully. I really liked that these traumatizing experiences from the past contributed to the characters without totally crippling them.
Really, there’s not much else to say. This book was amazeballs. Check it out. Oh, and I’m definitely going to swing by some hockey games next season because apparently that’s where all the hotties are hiding 😉 That means I should definitely read more hockey books in preparation…for educational purposes of course.
This was my first Elle Kennedy book and it definitely won’t be my last. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series though, I am a little hesitant because I enjoyed this one so much.
