The Dead of winter by Julie Solano and Tracey Justice is the second book in this series and OMG this is another great story in this wonderful series.
The story picks up from the major cliffhanger from the last book and this weaves the same thread with these wonderful characters. The story explains how each of the characters have coped with the way their lives have turned out. As in the first book this story deals with the problems of young adults and it does not feel fluffy but the writing is brilliant to really tell their feelings and the problems.
This is the second book I have read by this duo and I can’t wait for the next book in the series, I would suggest you read the first book as this sets up the stories and I enjoyed the emotion and sheer intelligence in the writing makes this book able to be read as an adult book in a young adults world. I would definitely recommend this series to anybody.
The Dead of Winter (Seasons of Jefferson: Book 2)

5 out of 5 stars
The story The Dead of Winter (Seasons of Jefferson: Book 2) is the next wonderful book in the Seasons of Jefferson series. It picks up where the first left off. While most of the characters are the ones introduced to in the first book, there are a couple more added. I enjoyed reading about the new characters and the way that they are both introduced and weaved into the story. I enjoyed reading how the characters all stand-up for one another. When one is hurting the others are concerned and give as much support as they can. This is a book that had my emotions going up and down. There are times when I was laughing and smiling, then others when I had tears in my eyes. It does a good job of making you feel the emotions of the characters and what they are going through. The subjects of fears, nightmares, and extremely stressful situations are addressed. The story is well-written and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had read the final page. While there are some answers that are given there are also more questions that are raised. At times situations are talked about or happen that will have you wondering if things are coincidence or something more. The mystery will have you turning pages to find out what happens next. This is a series that should be read in order as it has a continuing storyline. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
****Read Book One (When Fall Breaks) before reading this one****
I am totally going to be echoing comments from my review of the first book when fall breaks, but praise must be giving.
This is such sn amazingly raw mature YA read.
I couldn’t put it down, I was captivated from page run.
I really enjoy how there is no holding back and its not a sugar coated high school story.
5 out of 5 stars, I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Four Stars
(Read book 1 before reading book 2)
Its unbelievable how this story has grown. We pick up from where book one ended. Its crazy what these teens are going through. In this book we focus on Caiden and Peyton. The trauma they experience is heart breaking. Peyton just completely flips out and checks out of life and reason. Caiden does his best to pick up the pieces. Life just can’t give them a break. It’s a mimic on real life nothing is ever always perfect. When an unexpected attraction brings light to their situation we are left with a cliffhanger. The author put a twist on this that had my jaw hanging open. As a teenager your emotions are confusing and raw. Add violence, alcohol and mental issues its 10xs worse. There are so many lessons in this book. Great job to this duo for being brave enough to tackle teenagers emotions. I can’t wait for the next book. I know it will be heartbreaking but real.
The Dead of Winter by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice is a continuation of a group of young adults/ kids from When Fall Breaks. It follows the consequences of actions that were taken in the first book.
Again, like in When Fall Breaks – our authors do not disappoint the reader. They have done a fabulous job in keeping and maintaining the world that they had originally built, and if possible – making more of it. As for the characters – I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more of the characters and what they were really like.
The journey that we are led through is amazing, and one that is unforgettable. I love being able to lose myself while reading – and am glad that I was able to do so with this one. I definitely consider this a 5 Star Book, as I am looking forward to continuing my journey with these characters and authors alike.
Another hit! Highly recommend reading the first book prior to this one to get the full depth of the story. This book focuses on Caden and his struggles. So many twists and so much angst! The authors really hit all the feels, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
The Dead Of Winter (Jefferson Seasons book 2) by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice, 5 stars
This is book two in the Jefferson Seasons book series. If you haven’t read book 1, stop and do it now. This review may contain spoilers from the first book. This book continues where When Fall Breaks left off. The first book is in Kaitlyn’s point of view, while this book is in her twin brother, Caden’s point of view. This book continues the emotional rollercoaster the first book started. It deals with sensitive situations with teens such as alcohol, ptsd, and domestic violence. Kaitlyn is still struggling with all her fears dealing with domestic abuse and they are dealing with the aftermath of their choices such as underage drinking. This group faces more serious situations along with the typical teen drama with rumors. Caden is really torn up after the accident that almost killed him and his girlfriend, Peyton. Trying to recover, get over his fears, and continue with his relationship is what he is dealing with. Caden is scared to admit to his fears because he believes his friends and family will look at him differently after his revelations are revealed. He is struggling with depression and is keeping everything inside. His secrets start to cause friction within the group while one by one each of them figure it out. His sister calls him out on his fears and only wants him to get the help he needs. Being the teenaged boy he is, he makes light of the situation and tries to buy some time before his secrets are revealed. He finally finds a reason to smile and keeps his revelation to himself until he is ready to let others in on his secret crush.
This book has all the feels and emotions I’ve come to expect from these authors. This is the second book that I have read by them. They have a gift of storytelling and connection a moral to their story. I recommend this book to any young adult reader, or to any reader of any age. It is easy to connect to the characters at any age. This book ends in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to dive into book three!

This book almost broke me! After reading and loving book 1 I didn’t honestly think the writing of these two authors could get any better but it has! It really has! This book was so emotional; honestly these authors did a phenomenal job with this second book in the series. Again I couldn’t even tell that the story was written by joint authors, the chapters and words flow seamlessly and it really is such a beautiful story. I will say that it really does need to be read after the first book as it continues after that huge cliff-hanger!
All of the characters were fantastic and there were so many times that I was almost in tears with everything that they went through. Caden, oh my gosh, my heart just broke for him! I wanted to jump into my kindle just to give him the biggest hug ever! Not only did we have the group trying to move on from everything that happened but also the twists and turns of new events that popped up! This story certainly kept me on my toes!
I am super excited to read the next book in the series and highly recommend this book and the series so far!
The Dead of Winter is the second installment in the Seasons of Jefferson series by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice. This duo of authors have once again written a beautiful five star novel. This novel is hard to describe without giving away spoilers so I will attempt to write a review without any of the important details. The first book, When Fall Breaks, is a necessity to read first before you jump into this one. The stories flow so well together that it would be difficult to even know where one stops and the next begins. The first story is narrated by Kaitlyn and the second is narrated by her twin brother Caden. After getting to know Kaitlyn so well, it was really a great idea by the authors to then drag Caden in and make it all about him. I cannot wait to pick up the third book and get started reading that one.
The Dead of Winter is the second book in the Season of Jefferson Series by authors Julie Solano and Tracy Justice.
I highly recommend starting from the start of this series with When Fall Breaks.
The Dead of Winter picks up right where When Fall Breaks leaves off. And after the cliff hanger ending, I couldn’t wait to start this.
This follows all the friends as they all deal with the aftermath of the accident. Caden is the main focus, him dealing with almost dying, trying to cope with the feeling that he let down Peyton and Kaitlyn, thinking that the accident was his fault.
This is a fantastic read, with a great storyline that throws a couple of twists at us as we go through the story. I’m looking forward to reading book 3 of this series to see where that takes us. I’m almost certain that it’s going to be as good as what I’ve already read.
Book two in the Seasons if Jefferson Series: Dead of Winter written by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice. Dead of Winter takes off right where When Fall Breaks ends. It’s just as twisted if not more then book one and introduces new characters. There are a few plot twists that make you wonder what is really going on with the story in an addicting way. Is Pistol alive and stalking them, did he die during the accident, is there another explanation…. This story just gets better and better. You feel for the group Kaitlyn, Jenna, Brody, Caden and Mason are all terrified and paranoid. They are constantly looking over their shoulders and trying to move on from the accident. Avery makes a huge impact on Caden’s life and helping him move forward but there’s so many emotions going on by the time you get to the end you just want to scream.
What the heck did I just read!? The Dead of Winter is book two in Seasons of Jefferson by JT Authors. I have to firstly admit I was annoyed that this was not Kaitlyn and Brody anymore. I didn’t really care to read about Caden at all (hides face, sorry). But by the end I had grown to love Caden and was rooting for him. He had been through a lot in the first story, they all had. It seemed as though he took a lot of it personally. But I was happy with the growth that he was able to make and the Authors truly did a great job telling his story. The story is about growth, second chances and forgiveness. I’m excited to read the next season and find out what will happen to this group of brave friends. I haven’t read a lot of series that had a cliffhanger and this series has two… I’m guessing the next one will be too…. hmmm. Can’t wait to find out!
The Dead of Winter is the second book in the Seasons of Jefferson Series by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice (JT Authors). This book starts where When Fall Breaks ended. This story is told by Caden, Kaitlyn’s twin brother point of view, and we learn more what all they are going through. Caden’s story teaches us that though physical pain hurts, emotional and mental pain can hurt even more. This book deals with post-traumatic stress disorder and the openness of mental health issues, dealing with it in a pro-active way.
The Dead of Winter will have you turning the pages due to all the twists and turns. You will finish it in one sitting because you want to know what happens next. You will definitely need to read When Fall Breaks first, due to the big cliffhanger and getting to know the characters. The authors writing keeps you engaged from the first to the last word. Their characters are well developed and very believable. You truly felt all the emotions that the characters go through. I cannot wait to read book three in the series.
Dead of Winter picks up right where When Fall Breaks left off. Book two focuses on Cadon and how he copes with his life after the tragedy on the mountain. I love the interaction between him and Tangles. She had some of the best lines and had my cracking up! This cannot be read as a stand alone. You will need to read book 1 to know what is going on. And like book 1, book 2 will leave you hanging!! Give me book 3, STAT!!
The Dead of Winter is an emotionally charged YA by J.T. Authors (Julie Solano and Tracy Justice) and is the second book in the Seasons of Jefferson series, make sure you read the first book When Fall Breaks first as this story picks up where it leaves off. I don’t want to go into the storyline in case you haven’t read or finished book one yet, but this story is deals with a lot of emotional issues that teens face when dealing with tragedy. The authors have done a great job bringing these issues out in a way that not only makes you think and feel but also keeps you turning pages. This story flows flawlessly from the first book to this one and I especially loved that it was told from a boy’s (Caden) POV because it gives it a unique twist you don’t usually see in the YA genre. I highly recommend this series for YA fans and look forward to book 3!
The Dead of Winter is Book 2 in the Jefferson State Trilogy written by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice. I chose this story because I stumbled upon When Fall Breaks (book 1) last week and found myself anxious to read the rest of the story. Whereas book 1 was written in Kaitlyn’s point of view, and she appeared to be the main character, book 2 is written in her brother Caiden’s point of view, and he is the main focus. Where book 1 focuses on teen drinking, domestic violence and the dangers surrounding it, book 2 focuses on the aftermath of all that happened in book 1. Book 1 ended with a ridiculous cliffhanger, and Dead of Winter picked up exactly where it left off. Never have I enjoyed a young adult series more! 5 stars from me

This is the second book in their series and I enjoyed it just as much as the first book. I recommend you read the first book before this one to help enrich this series. The story is told in the perceptive of three characters, the transition between them is easy to understand. I enjoy how these authors are able to pull me right into the story with ease. This story will show you how easy it is for life to turn you inside out without even looking back. I highly suggest this page turner.
