If you like Lee Child’s twists and turns and James Patterson’s page-turning thrills, you’ll love award-winning and bestselling author Joel Goldman’s thriller, The Dead Man!”A masterful blend of rock-solid detective work and escalating dread. The Dead Man is both a top-notch thriller and a heart-rendering story of loss, courage and second chances. I loved it.” Robert Crais, NYT Bestselling Author… Crais, NYT Bestselling Author
When people in a study of the human brain start to die exactly as they have dreamed they would die, Jack Davis crosses paths with a serial killer, taking him onto both sides of the law and into the path of a murderer’s terrifying rage.
“The Dead Man is one of those rare novels you will be tempted to read twice: the first time to enjoy and the second time to appreciate how Goldman put the pieces together. The hours spent on both will be more than worth it.” Bookreporter.com
It doesn’t get any better than that, so grab The Dead Man and don’t let go!

A masterful blend of rock-solid detective work and escalating dread. THE DEAD MAN is both a top-notch thriller, and a heart-rending story of loss, courage, and second chances. I loved it.
Good read. Hardly put the book down until finished.
I love this author, plus it takes place near where I live
I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it!!!!
A man and his wife are stabbed in their bed and cut to pieces. Their daughter hears the murderer coming down the hall towards her room and goes out the window, dropping down to the ground and luckily just twisting her ankle and hides in the bushes. By the time the sheriff shows up the girl Maggie Brennan and her uncle are out front covered in blood.
Jack Davis, who has been forced to retire from the FBI due to a shaking disorder is about to get evicted from the house he’s renting by his new land lord. He has a lease but the original landlord is the mother of the girl who actually inherited the house and wants him out. They work it out and he’ll pay the rent to her and she’ll live in the house also. Jack has accepted a job as head of security for Milo Harper a billionaire who own Harper Institute of the Mind which studies the brain. One of their projects is the study of dreams and two of their volunteers have died , one of alleged suicide and the other supposedly falling off the third floor of a parking garage. One of the researchers who is an expert on memory an PTSD turns out to be Maggie Brennan who now is a PHD who has dreams about that horrible night when her parents were killed.
The story goes on with four people dead by seemly self induced causes. The story moves on fairly slowly and I had trouble sticking with it. Too many words and unnecessary paragraphs. I thought it would never end. I’ve read other Joel Goldman’s books and really enjoyed them. This one gets three stars from me this time.

I thought the book well written, but a confusing end. I thing some authors want to follow to close to the end to make you want the next edition. This was a page turner and was unhappy when it was finished. I will read more of his books.
Joel Goldman’s Jack Davis series is worth the read. Jack Davis is an unexpected protagonist–forced into retirement from the FBI after developing episodes of debilitating tremors and spasms multiple times each day. He has had a lot of sorrow in his life, and will have more as you read the three books. He’s very good at profiling people and asking the questions others overlook. The friends he has are good ones, so long as they don’t expect much coddling–he’s a take me or leave me guy. In each book, the plot unfolds quietly and the author takes great care to gradually develop the characters. There was definitely some excitement, but unlike the grab-you-by-the-throat novels, this writer produces more realistic characters caught in more believable circumstances. I give Goldman an A for good solid writing and substantial stories. I enjoyed Jack Davis, more with each book. Very satisfying reading.
great book. i will read this author again
If you like to get an eerie feeling when reading at night, this book is for you!
Great read, the characters came to life and it was impossible to guess who was doing the killing!
interesting
Didn’t move fast enough. Liked the KC scenery, though.
Great presentation, kept m thinking through the entire story. Yo will get caught up in drama and he the chase.
Hard to put down! It was an outstanding read.
Once again Joel hit a home run with this book!
Another great Goldman thriller.
Good mystery read
Great story
Goldman is an excellent story teller creating memorable characters and plots. Both Lou Mason attorney and now Jack Davis, ex FBI agent suffering random whole-body seizures & tics are fascinating protagonists and all Goldman books are highly recommended!
Loved it. Can’t wait to read more.
