What a crazy story (and I mean that in the best way possible). I saw the ending coming, but I also didn’t and I praise JLA for that, because I am not easily fooled and this only made the story better. It is suspenseful, scary, romantic and extremely entertaining! Oh and not to forget lots of secrets… I did not expect to like this story as much as I did. I am easily scared, so I did not dare to read this book at night. I really think you should go into this book as “blank” as possible, I am not going to say anything else, except that you should give this book a try!

I first read this book when it first became available on Wattpad years ago. I had great time reading it the second time for the JLA Booktalk, even though I already knew who the murder was. At least it gave me a chance to see if there were any clues throughout the story that I missed the first time.
I loved how brave and strong Ella was, despite her having slight mental issues. I thought it was really brave of her to seek help and to acknowledge that there is a problem rather than try to sweep it under the rug and pretend that nothing is wrong. I also admired her for taking control in starting self-defense lessons after she was first attacked. I think that was very courageous because most would probably move half way across the world after something like that happening. Throughout the whole book, with all the attacks, even though she was scared, she showed great deal of bravery and level-headiness.
Jensen must be one of my favourite JLA heroes. He was so supportive and understating and I loved how protective he would when something happened to Ella. While there were couple of things he said that would implicate him to be the one behind the killings, I dismissed that thought right away because there is no way that Jennifer would make one of her heroes into a murderer, there was just no way, especially after he brought Ella her favourite treats and season one of Supernatural. I mean, a murderer would not be this sweet and attentive! He really stole my heart from the first moment when we met him at the party and he was the hot and mysterious fella in the corner, and especially after the second moment when we found out he was Ella’s self-defense instructor and we saw him in his perfect, half-naked glory.
As mentioned earlier, I read the book before so I was not surprised about who the killer was. But at least it gave me the chance to pick-up on the red flags and there were a few. It was still really messed up to read about the killings and the nature of them. I can’t say I felt scared reading this book, but it definitely gave me the creeps, especially that clown mask! Why is it always clowns?! I am so not hiring clowns for my future kids birthday parties, there is flipping no way!
The Dead List was unlike anything Jennifer has ever written before. It was creepy, intense, romantic and a real page turner. All you want is to find out who is behind it all and why. Your suspects will change from chapter to chapter, with lots of characters saying things that make them sound guilty. But guessing who the murderer is was half the fun.
A thrilling read!
He’s making a list…
And he’s checking it twice…
I read this book years ago when it was on Wattpad and fell in love with it immediately (As one does when it’s a JLA book).
Intriguing, mysterious and thrilling. Captivating and hooking.
Everyone is suspicious and you don’t know who to trust. Ugh. This book was crazy amazing.
Full of mystery, a killer, trust, secrets, family, friends and love.
Perfect for readers of mystery/thriller romances.

Favorite Quote:“You’re the first girl I’ve ever fallen in love with, Ella, and you’ll be the last girl I ever love”
Review:
I really liked this book. We’ve learned in other books, like in Till Death that Jennifer can write mystery’s/horrors. I was happy to read another one of her trillers. I was a tad hesitant to read it because it’s a YA book but I didn’t need to be.
What is this book about:
This book is about Ella and Jensen. When they were younger they were part of the same friend group. One night something tragic happened which caused the group to grow appart.
Ella and Jensen tried dating but it didn’t work out for them, and they also grew apart. One night something happend, Ella was attacked and she was saved by non other than Jensen.
After that the threads don’t stop, weird things keep happening. Will they figure out what is going on and who is doing it before things escalate?
What did I like/love about this book:
I really liked the thrilling/mystery aspect of this book. I liked that it wasn’t to obvious who was behind the events happening. I had some suspicions but I never expected that second plot twist to happen.
I really liked that Ella and Jensen had a history together and that they tried again. I really liked seeing them reconnecting and trying to work it out.
Overall I really enjoyed reading this book!

That ending y’all!
The Dead List is a captivating YA thriller that had my heart racing and swooning in equal measures. Yep you read that right, in the midst of all that crazy, edge of your seat “who done it” mystery, Jennifer manages to seamlessly add in swoon worthy romance.
A couple days before her senior year begins, someone wearing a mask attacks Ella while she’s leaving a party. The only reason she wasn’t taken was because of Jensen. A boy she used to be best friends with. A boy who she hasn’t spoken to in years, and who broke her heart the last time they did. As the weeks pass she tries to move on but the attacker won’t let her. She finds the mask left in her home and locker, dead birds are left in backpacks and outside her window, and more students end up missing or dead. Ella signs up for self defense lessons and her old friend and crush, Jensen, is her instructor. Jensen takes full advantage of the opportunity to show Ella how much he has missed her and how much he wants to be part of her life again.
Can we all agree that Jennifer writes the best book boyfriends? Jensen was no exception. He was hot, caring, loyal, supportive, funny, and super protective of Ella.
Ella was great too. She was kind, loyal, loving, and brave. She was struggling with something that happened with their friend Penn in the past and still moving forward.
Did I mention that there’s a crazy masked killer? Yep during all the swoony Jensen and Ella moments, and flashbacks to the past, Ella and her classmates are being terrorized. This book was fabulous! It kept me captivated from start to finish. The flashbacks to the past were great and made you miss Penn as much as Ella did. I was pretty certain I had the killer figured out, but then Jennifer would toss in little tidbits that would have me doubting my guess all the way until the end. I definitely recommend you scoop this up. For the swoony romance as much as the thrilling murder mystery!
This is one by my girl JLA that stayed with me for days. I cried…I screamed…I bitched a fit…then I just stared into space for a while. Yeah I went through a few emotions. For anyone who was once tortured or bullied in school this book will definitely trigger something within you. It is hard to determine for every person, but for me I was just all over the place. It is kind of hard to go into details about this book because it is one of those reads where you don’t want to reveal even the tiniest bit of detail because you want to watch it all unravel before your own eyes.
But, I will say this. With the main character I struggled with feeling empathy for her, to feeling contempt. There were times I wanted nothing more than to wrap her up in a blanket of cashmere and give a thousand hugs, but then I wanted to use that same cashmere blanket as a noose and wrap it around her throat. Sounds violent but I am just one of those people that hate selfish individuals and so I was pissed by a certain discovery. Anyway all and all I enjoyed this book, I was truly on the edge of my seat for some parts, others I was disgusted, some I was warm and fuzzy then by the end I was just over it all. I needed a cigarette, shot of vodka and a kleenex. Thank you JLA!!
