A sleepy rural town in South Carolina. The end of summer and a baby about to be born. But in the midst of hope and celebration comes unexpected tragedy, and Dylan Styles must come to terms with how much he’s lost. Will the music of his heart be stilled forever—or will he choose to dance with life once more, in spite of sorrow and heartbreak?
The Dead Don’t Dance is a bittersweet yet triumphant … triumphant love story—a tale of one man’s spiritual journey through the darkness of despair and into the light of hope.

I loved this book from cover to cover.
I love when an author takes you deep into his characters, delves into their hearts and minds, and weaves a story that is spell binding. Enter Charles Martin: he brings it all. Well done!
I read this book years ago, but during the Pandemic (libraries closed), I read it and enjoyed it again. Martin is deep with detail, local color, and complex characters. But an excellent book.
This book had me hooked on every page. I loved reading about the tremendous love the main character has for his wife, while being a flawed man who doesn’t always do everything right and without once coming across as less than a real man. I fell in love with his wife because he was so in love with her. Couldn’t wait to get started on the sequel, …
Everything Charles Martin writes is worth reading. Our favorite author!
Now, before that title (and cover) starts freaking you out, let me tell you now that this is not a creepy murder story, ‘kay?
Okay . . . um, I’m not even sure where to start. I fell in love with this book right away, with both the characters and the writing style. I’ve read one other book by Charles Martin, When Crickets Cry, and I have to say …
This is my first to read by Martin and will certainly not be my last!! I couldn’t put it down!!
At first, I thought it wouldn’t be a book that I would like, but turned out to be very good. Could hardly wait to read the sequel. Really loved it.
It is a wonderful read.Every thing this author writes is awesome
I found this book delightful,, but next to impossible to put down. Characters become so real and you are inside the story early on! Emotions were described in ways I have NEVER read and the author is a master with words! Have a day or relax and become someone in rural SC? READ this book
Loved this book, as the second one we read by this author, (immediately followed reading our first book of his). We really enjoy his writing style and the characters are very easy to visualize.
I loved the story. It seemed realistic and kept me interested. The writing was awesome.
Real tear jerker. Great author!
Charles Martin never fails to write a good story. An easy summer read!
I love everything written by Charles Martin! Excellent story lines with very well developed characters.
Charles Martin has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I love how his male characters have a deep, committed love for their mate. So refreshing. This story follows that pattern.
Charles Martin’s writing ability amazes me with every one of his books that I read. One of my all time favorite authors, and this book is no exception.
Few authors engage my interest like Charles Martin. Clean reading, no unnecessary smut.
Loved it! Love this author!
Love Charles Martin!
