I’m Luciana Wright.Everyone calls me Lucky, but when it comes to love, I’m anything but.I have a long history of dating the wrong men.You know the ones I’m talking about. The beautiful, charming guys who are quite literally too good to be true. The ones who are impulsive in love and prefer short flings over long-term relationships.I’m talking about the jerks. The guys who taste so good, but are so … the jerks.
The guys who taste so good, but are so very bad.
After going through the most ridiculous breakup in the history of breakups, I thought I’d learned my lesson. I officially put myself into jerk rehab and committed to changing my ways.
But, let’s be real here, love is never that easy.
Especially when an arrogant, charming, he-devil of a sexy alpha man gets involved.
Aussie accent.
Tanned skin.
Muscular, surfer bod.
Gorgeous brown eyes.
And the kind of sexy smile that brings women to their knees.
Oh, did I mention that he’s also my best friend’s brother?
Yeah. This story, my story, it’s a real doozy you guys.
The day I stopped falling for jerks, I met Oliver Arsen—the biggest jerk of all.

I’ll start off by saying Max Monroe have me salivating for the next book. Absolutely salivating.
I’m not going to give you too much detail on the specifics of this book but what I will say is that I like their take on the story telling of this book and how it was told.
Now it did take me a minute to get into this story as it started off a bit slow for me and perhaps I also had to get used to how they choose to tell it. Almost as if your reading a transcript of a podcast which was different and maybe it took me a bit to get used to it but I thought it was unique.
So this is definitely a slow burn romance. Once things get rolling with Ollie and Lucky I found myself shipping these two hard and I found myself invested in the story. I loved the little moments with one another. And there’s a bit of angst at the end of this which I definitely felt and I absolutely loved. I’m a sucker for the cliffy so of course I’ll be patiently waiting for the next book. Thankfully it’s not that long of a wait.
he Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks by Max Monroe is the first book in their fabulous Jerk duet. Told in singular POV from Lucky’s POV this book is original in it’s format and funny, angsty, honest, and the build up to the romance is perfectly paced.
Luciana “Lucky” Wright is a reporter for an online publication who gets wrangled into the “terrible” task of traveling the world with a surfing competition and writing articles and doing interviews surrounding this championship surfing event. When she meets the latest in a long line of Jerks in her life, none other than her best friends brother, she makes sure to avoid him as much as possible. After an awkward and recent breakup she is swearing off jerks all together. And Ollie Arsen is at the top of that list. Or is he… As the event progresses and they spend more time with each other, Lucky learns that she was hasty to judge him and that she judged him wrong. Or did she???
Book two in the duet continues the story after a dramatic turn of events at the end of book one, but takes over now from Ollie’s POV. I’m a first time reader of this co-authoring duet and I am officially now a huge fan. I am so excited for book two, The Day the Jerk Started Falling. Enjoy!
Fantastic idea for the story line – podcast like!
I think I found me another book boyfriend, oh Ollie, Ollie! Not sure though if you took Thatch’s place, I need to read second part to let you know.
I’m totally #TeamLucky and fangirling over her, so much!
I simply loved this book, one of my best reads for 2018! It hooked me from the beginning and I think the idea for the story line is just brilliant. I’m impatiently waiting for Ollie’s podcasts.
First let me say this is my first ever read of Max Monroe as a couple writing books. I have read each of the author’s solo books and loved them. This one however took me a while to get into the groove. I think it was the way the story was told, via Podcast, so we are getting every little [sigh], [director chuckle], etc. Then when you throw in the actual conversations, I was totally lost, but I kept moving on. The banter between all of the characters was hysterical at times and kept me interested to find out what is going to happen next. BUT… This being a duet, we have to wait until the next book comes, and it is coming quick!
***5 ‘Accident’ Stars***
Addicting and Honest.
That pretty much sums up this one. I was hooked from the start and I will admit that it was a 50/50 split between loving the way the story was being told and finding Lucky to be absolutely charming and real. This book had everything. It was funny, sweet, smexy, swoon worthy and even heartbreaking, but it was real and once I dove in, putting it down wasn’t an option and when the end came I was quite unhappy because I needed more – and thank the powers that be aka the authors, I’ll be getting that more sooner rather than later!
I adored Lucky. This woman has moxie. She’s sassy, sweet and totally owns herself. Some of her choices did drive me a little batshitcrazy, but I loved her honesty, especially when it came to self reflection.
Ollie. This man. Yes, I adored him – even when he was being a “jerk” because he is the kind of jerk that has a good heart. He’s charming, sweet, cocky and simply an all around good man.
Lucky and Ollie’s journey is a slow burn one and it totally worked for me on every level, especially with how the telling of their story was done *BSEG* The chemistry between them was there from the start, even if it was a tinsy bit antagonistic, but I loved how their relationship progressed and those little things that brought them closer. And as for that roadblock in their relationship? Well, I see both sides of the story and am firmly on #TeamLuckyAndOllie because they are made for each other (and because I can *wink*)
This is my first read by the writing duo known as Max Monroe and I’m sitting here wondering why I haven’t picked up a book by them before? Well, ok, I KNOW why but still. But what finally had me taking the leap was the title. I simply could not pass this one by and it is all due to the title and I’m very happy I took the plunge. The writing was seamless and engaging and i thoroughly enjoyed the first person POV as well as HOW the story was told. The characters were all very well written, Jordy and Allie are easily my favs. And as for that ending? Alls I can say is I cannot wait to get my hands on The Day The Jerk Started Falling!

Oh this book was so refreshing! It was different approach for Max Monroe. It still had the humor and banter we are use to so fret not. I loved Ollie. He was sweet, caring, and swoon worthy in such an unexpected way. Lucky was such a cool chick. She’s had bad luck in relationships. She was focused and determined. I also am a huge fan of Jordy’s. Excited to see where the story goes!
OMG I’ve got to say after finishing this book I can honestly say I’ve never been more happy about a chliffy in my life.
I loved the podcast approach to tell Lucky’s side of the story. It was refreshing and spot on. I loved how sassy, strong and driven Lucky was. It was cute to see how she tried to stop her attraction towards Ollie but failed to do so. I could relate to her on so so many levels and I’ve got to say I’d probably do everything she did if I were in her shoes.
Now I only need to get my hands on the second book because I have a feeling Ollie might turn out to become my book-boyfriend no.1 – don’t disappoint me Oliver
5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
Thank you Max Monroe for writing this amazing story. I loved every second of it. I love the witty banter. I loved the characters. I loved the story. This book was exactly what I needed. I needed a story filled with sass and humor. That’s exactly what I got.
Lucky, girl has a long line of losers and crappy relationships. Straight out of another crappy break up, Lucky needs a break. When her friend Allie steps in and makes that happen. Now, Lucky is forced with the hottest guy she’s ever seen and he might just be the biggest jerk of them all. Or is he? Could Ollie be just what Lucky needs? I’m not telling, you have to read this story.
I can’t wait to see what’s to come from Max Monroe. I loved every single second of this amazing story and you will too!
Get ready for another swoon-worthy Max Monroe male, and this one has a sexy Australian accent **fans self**. Let’s start with Lucky first. Lucky is the author of a podcast The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks. This is so awesomely written that I can picture her narrating the story of how she met sexy surfer, businessman, and so much more, Ollie. Traveling around the world to several exotic locations for surfing competitions (did I mention how much I love surfers?) Lucky and Ollie form a fun relationship filled with tons of sexual energy. The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks is Lucky’s point fo view. Another awesome Max Monroe story. More great characters. And did I mention the swoon-worthy Aussie surfer? Read this now!
And I’m Team Ollie.
I didn’t think it was possible for me to love a Max Monroe book/characters more than I adored their Billionaire Bad Boys series, particularly Thatch and Cassie’s story, but the creative way Lucky and Ollie’s book is constructed, the uniqueness of how Lucky’s perspective is crafted and the ease in which readers can relate to her relationship disasters solidified this book…this duet as my favorite Max Monroe book to date and I sure hope Thatch understands…I mean, it’s not like I chose Ollie over him…at least not yet…it’s just that everything about Lucky and Ollie’s story – the slow burn of it…the conflicted feelings that abound…the flirty interactions between them…the potential complications of going against Lucky’s self-prescribed ‘jerk rehab’ – all of it is phenomenally written and beyond captivating that Thatch is going to need to be a team player and deal with the fact that The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks is EVERYTHING that I LOVE about storytelling and romance.
Lucky’s journey is told through a series of podcasts, which means that readers get a firsthand account of all the reasons she’s done with jerks as well as her history of jerkish exes. She shares all of her thoughts, impressions, annoyances, mistakes, and second guesses, and as Lucky works through her feelings, not only for Ollie but for all the jerks who came before him, a clearer picture begins to form but what it says about her, her choices, and her future remains unclear, especially because there are two sides to every story and Ollie’s voice needs to be heard and his thoughts need to be shared in order to honestly answer Lucky’s question – is Ollie the biggest jerk of them all?
5 + Poison Apples
I’m usually not a fan of duets, only because when I read a story I want the whole thing. Right Now. I’m impatient. Well I’m glad I was lucky enough (pun intended) to receive an ARC of this. you guys, its good. It’s so good. It’s got an extremely funny leading lady and a swoony male lead, well he’s actually a jerk, but I digress. It’s so funny, at one point I was reading it, laughing out loud and my husband just stared at me and shook his head. I’ll be (im)patiently waiting for the conclusion to the duet and praying that these characters find their perfect wave.

The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks is told in such an interesting (and increasingly popular) format: via podcasts! That made for a very unique reading experience and we really get to know Luciana (aka: Lucky) very well and I really liked her! Honestly, she reminded me how fantastic the writing duo is at creating likable characters. The banter and chemistry between Lucky and Ollie is phenomenal and it reminded me of Thatch and Cassie of Banking the Billionaire in a way. I’m super stoked to see more from Ollie’s POV in The Day The Jerk Started Falling and I think that I may be revisiting my rating of this book after I get his perspective. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I loved how this story is told. Lucky is telling her side of her many life stories on a podcast and it was like you’re really listening to her except your reading it, obviously. I really like her. There were a lot of parts that had me giggling. She doesn’t have the best track record with boyfriends and it was fun listening to her tell her many crazy stories. Then she meets Ollie. Oh, Ollie. I’m totally Team Ollie all the way. The only thing that made me feel a wee bit awkward was when they got to their one and only fun times. I felt like I was intruding on their fun. I know! I wanted to look away because she’s talking about it on her podcast and it just felt weird. I’ve never heard a juicy podcast like that before I tell you. I’m sure the audiobook would be great for these two books. But it’s fine, it’s just a me thing. My stone heart was beating pretty hard for Lucky and Ollie at the end. I can’t wait to hear his side of things in his book!
This book is so so good, as expected lots of humor but it’s feels that really go to me. There is so much emotion, Lucky has not been lucky in love, she has been hurt, you could just feel her walls. Ollie seemed so perfect but is he really? This is a great story with exceptional characters that I could just reach out and touch. I’ll be counting the hours until the next book.
This is the first book in the “The Jerk Duet”. It starts out a little slow as we meet Lucianna Wright a/k/a Lucky. She works for a popular website called Scoop. Lucky is not Lucky in Love, she tends to fall for jerks. Hence the title of her Podcast “The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks”. Lucky gets an assignment of a lifetime to travel the world, and she meets Oliver Arsen a/k/a Ollie. From the day Lucky meets Ollie the podcast you receive is exactly the type of read you get from Max Monroe. I enjoyed hearing/reading Lucky’s Podcast, but I seriously can’t wait to hear/read Ollie’s Podcast.
Oh my word what a fabulously funny, sweet, adventurous romcom! Our story is told from Lucky’s POV and she has certainly been unlucky at love and kissed her share and more of frogs on her way to finding her man. She has finally decided to stop falling for jerks. She is a writer for a magazine but also has a podcast it is like a day in the life of Lucky . She begins a series of letters that give her closure to her past boyfriends, the jerks that have tainted her past! She also finds herself covering international surfing and yes she knows nothing about it expect that the men are pretty easy on the eyes. Her best friend and co-worker Allie has decided to hook her up on the surfing circuit with her brother Ollie. He is a business owner and renowned champion surfer. Ollie and Lucky have a funny love hate relationship. He likes to push her buttons and limits regarding her fashion choice and dating habits and she enjoys telling him off. They have such a wonderful witty banter! I loved it !! I cannot wait for Ollie’s POV !!!

Lucky is unlucky in love. After a series of failed relationships, she’s determined to shot falling for jerks, and find someone worthy of her awesomeness.
She’s thrown a major wrench in her plan when she’s assigned to follow a surfing competition and write about the sport from the view of someone who knows nothing about it. Volunteered by her co-worker and friend Allie, Lucky packs one too many bags and is off to the other side of the world to follow the Professional Surfing League and report from her novice view some human interest pieces.
Only one problem: the person picking her up from the airport and part of the tour is none other than Allie’s surf legend, and all around hottie king of the jerks Ollie.
What’s interesting about this book is that it’s told from the perspective of the heroine through a podcast narrative, complete with the flashbacks and sighs/emotions while retelling her story. This one ends differently than you would expect – no huge cliffhanger, no resolution, but since this is a duet, I’m sure we’re going to find more when the second book, and Ollie’s version, is released shortly.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that surprised me with the delivery style and the overall story – and I’m waiting for the second in this series to see what Max Monroe delivers. So far, each one of their books has been a fav of mine, so I expect nothing less than greatness. They can live up to it thought…amIright?
Ding, ding, ding! Max Monroe has done it again. Written a book that made me laugh, and roll my eyes and go ugh and swoon too. The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks wasn’t exactly what I was expecting but holy moly was it addicting. And not just because of all the gorgeous scenery that has me needing a beach vacation.
I was mainly hooked because of Lucky. I adored her. Sarcastic. Charismatic. Honest. I want her to be real so we can go vintage clothes shopping together. I love that the guts of this story felt like a girls night where my bestie was telling me all about this crazy thing that had happened to her. And what a whirlwind Lucky’s life became when she was thrown into Ollie’s world.
For as opposed to Ollie’s charms as Lucky was, there was something about him she couldn’t resist. It could’ve been his accent, his stunning eyes, his washboard abs. Or the way he took time to help her conquer a few of her fears with kindness and patience. As much as Lucky thought he was a jerk, that side of him rarely presented itself, until it did. In a massive way.
Holy unexpected- made me wanna thrown something while my jaw was hanging open- twist! I didn’t see that coming at all. Neither did Lucky. She was blindsided and all those feelings that she didn’t want to have got even more muddled. Max Monroe has me itching to see how everything will pan out in Ollie’s side of the story.
Raise your hand if you love Aussie heroes!
The first book in the Jerk Duet is super funny, with a different form of narrative, and the best part is the witty comedy. I love Max Monroe’s sense of humor, it makes the story flow in a seamless way.
Lucky is funny and all over the place. It’s impossible to feel too bad about her unfortunate romantic past because she makes everything sound so comical. And Oliver, the hero, is a jerk, but deep down he is an amazing guy.
Told in a podcast format, TDISFFJ has everything I like in a good RomCom: A funny heroine, a sexy hero, some TLC, lot’s of swoony moments and a good handful of “I want to kill you, Ollie!” screams came out of my mouth during the read. But in the end, I have faith in Ollie and I know the jerk is a good guy.
And, it being a duet, it’s not a surprise that it ends in a cliffy (albeit a mild one) and I can’t wait to see what happens next! And it will be in Ollie’s POV!!!
This duo never cease to amaze me just when I think I have read it all they pop up with a book so very different to anything else they have done before.
I loved the podcast and the interesting interaction it gave us, what a novel way to get engaged with the characters and oh boy did I love the characters, the swoon worthy Ollie and the very funny Unlucky Lucky captivated me and I couldn’t put this book down and honestly it doesn’t matter that we need to wait for book 2 to see where this couple finally end up because I don’t want their story to end. Lucky is the girl that’s always been unlucky in love she always picks the jerks and Ollie is the hot surfer dude who could just be another jerk or not but I guess you need to one click this book and join the crazy roller coaster we are all on to find that out …….
I giggled I laughed I got angry but I said from the start I was #TeamOllie and at the end of book one I’m still saying go #TeamOllie because he gave me so many swoon worthy moments like teaching Lucky to swim. Now I just have to wait and I’m going down the sleeps until we get the conclusion to Ollie and Lucky’s journey.
