This was a feel-good type of narrative. All throughout, I kept rooting for Drew and Gretchen to get together. Those two dynamic characters gushed with chemistry. I enjoyed the interesting and entertaining plot.
It’s always interesting going back into an author’s back list, because you really don’t know what books you’re going to get. Are you going to get the type of books the author writes now? The long and thought through ones, or are you going to get shorter novellas with a different feel? I enjoyed the last series I went through by her, but it wasn’t the kind of caliber of books she writes now. So, I was understandably a tad wary, but I needn’t have been.
A lovely start to a new series. I loved both the lavender and the ice cream angles. Super interesting to learn about them. I loved meeting so many characters in this town. I can’t wait to read more about them in upcoming books!
For a sweet, clean romance, this is sweet and emotionally connects quite well. I like the character development, the story line is cute, and the premise is solid. The ending felt a little rushed and there was some disconnect at times, but overall an enjoyable read.
Drew is a paramedic and he delivered Gretchen’s daughter Dixie ten years ago in the road. She is back in town, widowed and working in her florist shop. He is back in town as a paramedic after been away for three after a hard breakup. Can they help each other’s heart to find love and happiness again? A sweet love story with a touch of lavender perfum.
If you like your romances sweet and clean, then this one is for you. Ms. Johnson did a wonderful job of delivering a solid story. Gretchen Samuels moved back to Hawthorn Harbor with her young daughter, Dixie, after her husband’s death. She always felt with Hawthorn Harbor was home. She would visit her grandparents here every summer and play in the lavender field with the neighbor’s son, Andrew Herrin. Ten years earlier, Drew, now a paramedic, helped to deliver, Gretchen’s daughter on the side of the road. Drew comes to Gretchen’s aid for a second time when she has a flat tire and needs to get to town to deliver her flowers!
The road to Gretchen and Andrew’s HEA is a precious story. It is filled with some profound sentiments and words as well as laughter and tears.
I adored the dual POV. There were a few moments with that really helped me to connect to the character at a given situation.
This is a wonderful start to the series and I look for more. There was a hint at the end as to the next story so I really look forward to it.
If you love your romance to be sweet and clean or really just a good feel-good romance, then you should give this one a try. I highly recommend this story to anyone.
Easy to read. Lovely little town with some sweet and intriguing characters. Drew came across as really genuine and Gretchen is hard working and independent.
This is a great book! I enjoyed watching the characters grow throughout the story. It is a treat to read. I love it when an author makes you feel like you are right there and you feel the things the characters are feeling.
A sweet read with a lovely ending.
I’m a sucker for a second chance. I don’t care if it’s a second chance for two people who didn’t work the first time around or it’s a ‘second chance’ to get it right with a whole new partner. Gretchen and Andrew are a sweet pairing. Together, they bring back that nostalgia of that time when they were just kids. But Gretchen’s so stubbornly independent, I despaired of them ever figuring it out. I’m so glad that Drew and Dixie were able to help her see the possibilities. And Dixie might just be my favorite character in the whole book.
I’m confused, I read this book as THE PARAMEDICS SECOND CHANCE and yet the cover came up as LOVE IN LAVENDAR – so whatever!! It is a standalone read with a HEA. Set in the Washington state area where lavender is grown the hero is an EMT in a small town where his family owns a lavender farm. The heroine is a widow with a 10 year old daughter, she owns and operates the florist shop in their small town.
Ten years ago Drew delivered a baby on the side of a road. He is shocked to discover that Gretchen is the woman and her daughter is that little baby that he first held. He never forgot her.
This is their story. She finds love again and he finds it for the first time. This is a very sweet, clean romance. Sex is not even talked about so any age group could read. There are farm animals, two big dogs, lavender farms, lots of side characters. It is an entertaining read and I definitely recommend it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/30/18
Drew is sweet and romantic with a can do attitude. Gretchen closed herself down and refuses any assistance from anyone. She also holds in a lot of anger and directs it at Drew. Neither handled the situation well. Both grown women giggling throughout the book is irritating. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
this is a good story if you like second chances, children and dogs you will like the story, it will also tell you about lavender
Gretchen is a widow who happens to cross paths with the paramedic who delivered her daughter on the side of the road – ten years later. Dixie, the girl Andrew helped deliver, gets along with Andrew and has been secretly throwing quarters into a wishing well that Andrew has shown her. Will Dixie get her wish? Will Gretchen overcome her insecurities and tell Andrew her true feelings? Will Andrew get the family he has not known he has been missing until now? A great beach or weekend read! I received an advance copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
A charming, clean romance, this story speaks of second chances and new beginnings. Gretchen returns to Hawthorne Harbor after her husband dies, to start over again with her daughter Dixie, the baby that Andrew Herrin delivered on the roadside 10 years before. In his career as a paramedic, it was one of the highlights of Andrew’s experience, filling him with excitement and pride, especially when he meets Mom and daughter again after so many years. The connection between Dixie and Andrew is even stronger than the initial flame of attraction between Gretchen and Andrew. Being a single Mom, Gretchen is cautious about becoming involved with Andrew and trust issues almost become her downfall. The story is well written, set in a small town, where neighbours look after one another and secrets can’t be kept. I found the book easy to read and look forward to reading further books in this series. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Love in Lavender is a well-written sweet romance. I liked the main characters, Drew and Gretchen, Gretchen’s daughter Dixie, and Drew’s parents. I loved the relationship that Drew had with Daisy, with his brother, and with his parents; and the relationship that Drew’s parents had with Daisy and Gretchen. I enjoyed the settings, a lavender farm and a floral shop. I was interested in all of the different things that lavender was used for. There were a few well-done dramatic scenes concerning Drew’s work as an EMT. The pacing of the story is spot on. The only thing that I didn’t like was Gretchen’s lack of a good reason to break up with Drew, but that is a small part of the story. There is a very sweet HEA. I would recommend Love in Lavender to all readers of sweet romance. I will definitely read more of Elana Johnson’s work.
I received an ARC from the author. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
