It’s complicated.
What’s complicated?
My life!
Six kids, two stepchildren, a dead husband, a nanny with multiple personalities, and a crazy wig-wearing, drug-selling, sex addict mother is only half the story.
Just when I decide to get my act together by putting down the bottle, my daughter decides to throw a party.
This is bad, very bad.
Our parties never go as planned. I can feel the … bad, very bad.
Our parties never go as planned. I can feel the mayhem brewing.
Just when I’m ready to throw in the towel when it comes to men, in walks a hot cowboy that kicks my libido in the nuts!
How can I possibly turn my life around with all this going on?

What do I say? This book is wonderful but is not a book for the faint at heart! It’s definitely not to be taken seriously! The characters are so over the top you can’t help but be entertained by them. I love YaYa! She reminds me of my own grandma! While this isn’t a genre I typically read, I’m glad I did!
Welcome to the world of the Crazy Rich Davenports and as the title says it’s a CRAZY place to be. This is a book about the Davenport family it’s fun it’s hot and it covers every scenario from a multi personality nanny to a blue pill drug dealing grandma with a lot of other big personalities in between.
Lucy and her six children are trying to get back to living a normal life after losing their patriarch Mark Davenport but their idea of normal is far from normality. This family get themselves into some hysterical situations and even though they come across as zany outrageous characters there are hidden depths to each of their personalities……
This book is not a sweet read but it is a great read and it leaves us with just enough unanswered questions to keep us guessing as to where these authors will take us in book 2 which I can’t wait to read.
Just like the warning says this book is filled with every type of character you can call on so it’s great the authors give us a break introducing the main characters and where they fit before the story gets started. What can I tell you, it’s a rip roaring mess but then with these characters how can it be otherwise. You’ll most definitely have a good laugh. Put away all of your expectations and fore gone conclusions cos it wont help. Just open your mind up and dig in this family doesn’t fit in any comparisons so just let go and have at it.
Great read, tons of chaos, tons of crazy, well done.
What did I just read??? I freakin love this book! I am serious you get so many POV’s and it just works. I seriously felt as I was watching a tv show..okay make it a reality tv show. So much family drama and you can’t help but get hooked by them. I love the language, I love all the secy time, and I love even the hunter that keeps the family the safe from zombies! Yes people you heard me… we have zombies. Well sort of anyways.
Yaya is probably my favorite character. I love the Davenports and cannot wait to see what they will bring us next!
Wild, crazy, funny. This is something completely different and enjoyable to read. The Davenport crew kept me guessing, laughing and crying. Mark, the father died a year ago and their world hasn’t been the same ever since. Lucy, the mom, is struggling to cope with losing the love of her life while her six kids try to continue on. Daisy is the nanny with additional personalities that keep life very interesting when they surface but what really amazed me was how well everyone embraced Daisy and her additional personalities, very supportive. Then we have Yaya, the grandmother, there aren’t words, you need to experience her for yourself. This is the land of dysfunction but at the same time, everyone is trying to function and find a new normal. I got invested in this family and want them to find their happiness through the pain and threats to their family. So excited for part two knowing it will be one crazy fun ride. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
This is my first time reading a book by these two authors, and I am now obsessed! I laughed so much during this read! OMG!!! This crazy bunch of people who are all 1 big dysfunctional family are a riot! I wish I had a yaya in my family! lol And Lucy! Oh dear GOD no wonder why she’s crazy! hahaha!! I can’t wait to see where the rest of the story will take me! Seriously,,,, this is a MUST READ!! This is not your typical book, it’s SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Wow! This really IS Laugh Out Loud funny!
I never believe when a book tells me it’s a comedy! This one really is! And not just a comedy! It’s truly a Laugh out Loud book! Warning! Don’t read this while drinking…anything!
I absolutely loved the family and just when you think you know what they will do next, trust me, you don’t! I won’t say any more because you MUST read this book and experience everything that is the Crazy rich Davenport’s!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I did not finish it. I just could not get into this book. I tried and tried but could not. I kept coming back and still couldn’t. It kept bouncing around and for me had nothing really to suck me in. From reading the description the authors gave I expected laugh out loud funny and what i experienced was what the ?!&#* is going on and trying to follow along. Sorry!
OMG this is a crazy story!!!
Shannyn and Kelly made it out as a different kind of books where you`ll follow each and every characters like a mini-series with episodes! I simply love it! The Davenports are such a crazy bunch of people, they stun you, make you laugh and re-read some sentences twice just to make sure you understand how weird they are. The cursing, the sex and some situations might not be for all readers but seriously it`s an hilarious story. I dearly recommend this as a quick easy funny read to anyone and it`s nice to read something new and entertaining.
Bravo seriously to those two co-writers and I dearly hope this story will keep on going on and that we`ll get the next episodes soon enough!
**I received an ARC of Dare to Enter (The Crazy Rich Davenports, #1) from the author for an honest review, no compensation was given**
This was a C R A Z Y A * * read! If you are looking for a super fun summer read look no further. This book had me laughing out loud, shaking my head and saying WTF did I just read.
This series starts with the introduction to all the batshit crazy Davenports and trust me I don’t think there is a normal one among them. From YaYa, the not so grandmotherly grandma to Daisy (the nanny) who is definitely sleeping with Ford…but may or may not have had a sexual encounter with… well you will just have to read the book. This crew can definitely reek a colossal amount of mayhem, in the most entertaining fashion. Consider yourself warned, you are in for one wild ride of a read. As for me, I am on to the next book, HOT MESS: Lucy Davenport
It’s definitely not what I’m used to from Shannyn Leah but it was equally as good! This book is quite a romp in over the top hilarity and downright raunchy talk! I love YAYA! I’m a grandmother myself that loves to embarrass my grands but I’m not quite as risque as YAYA. If you want to laugh and don’t mind language and sex then dive right in and enjoy the ride. Can’t wait for the next episode!!
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This book is so good you won’t be able to put it down! From the hilarious, drug slinging grandma “Yaya” to the multiple personality Nanny, you will fall in love with the family. Just don’t drink and read or it will be coming out your nose. These writer’s have nailed it.I can’t wait for the next one!!
Oh my goodness! This is a book unlike any other I have read. The Davenports are one seriously crazy family. Some of their actions left me shaking my head and laughing out loud. Each character has a lot of personality and hooked me in from the beginning. I had to keep reading to see what they would be up to next. I haven’t decided which character is my favorite yet and am looking forward to the follow up books to help make that decision. This ends in a cliffhanger for Lucy and her clan. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Lucy next.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
Dare to Enter (The Crazy Rich Davenports #1) was a great read by Shannyn Leah and Kelly Moore. This is a hilarious book about a completely dysfunctional family. This book followed Ford, Daisy/ Slutty Pepper/ Tommy, Yaya, Lucy and Gemma. I loved reading this hilarious families story and cant wait to read more of it.
Define CRAZY? Dah! the DAVENPORTS!
by Treasa
A rip roaring ribs hurting fun read! Reader BEWARE may need Depends due to peeing your pants could be an issue from all the laugh out loud hilarious crazy page turning twists that make this read an absolute page turner from beginning to end! A headshaking, arms flailing, heartpounding, intense, exciting, entertaining pure bundle of fun must read! I LOVED IT!
This book had me entertained from the beginning. Not to mention laughing hard. I fell in love with YaYa and her personality. Daisy had me not knowing which way was up but truly enjoyed her and her personalities. I am so looking forward to the next installment…… Will Cowboy Troy be Lucy’s hero? I can not wait to see what happens!!!
Where do I even begin with this family?! This book is like a primetime soap opera/comedy of Mama’s Family meets the Kardashians, only ultra rich. And with a few less pregnancies. So far. Lucy Davenport, her six children, and the maternal grandparents are all trying to find their new normal after patriarch Mark Davenport died. Unfortunately, normal took a ride on the train to crazy town. Maybe I should just introduce you to this cast of characters.
Lucy – the mom, who buries her grief in booze and men.
Yaya – the grandmother who wears brightly colored wigs and has a side business selling contraband. Her little blue pills are extremely popular at the nursing home.
Pops – the grandfather, and the only “normal” one of the bunch.
Ford – the oldest child and a college student, in love with the Multiple Personalities Disorder nanny, Daisy/Smutty Pepper/Tommy. Okay, he’s only in love with Daisy, but they’re kind of a package deal.
Gemma – also a college student; sweet, untouched and innocent.
Erik – high school student who works for Yaya selling contraband; Evan’s twin.
Evan – high school student who dresses like a stripper on a job interview; Erik’s twin.
Bryant – elementary school age boy who thinks he’s a super hero villain, costumes included, and loves to torment his little sister.
Bets – the six-year-old baby of the family with an invisible friend, Frankie. She collects the money for the swear jar.
Okay, first of all, don’t judge. Once you start digging into this train wreck, you won’t be able to look away either. I may have the tiniest bit concern about the minds that conceived these wacky, outrageous characters and their antics, but that’s for another day. Although I can’t say I liked everything about these characters, they are ridiculously likeable, endlessly entertaining, and managed to somehow endear themselves to me. One thing is sure – there is never a dull moment in this book and I found myself laughing out loud through the whole thing, which I read in one sitting. The well intended but epic failure of a birthday party scene, alone, makes the book worth reading. If you read to escape everyday life for a short time, this book is the ultimate escape. And spending time with the Davenports has a way of putting real life into perspective. Like maybe that wacky aunt of mine isn’t really so bad. Hmm.
That’s the thing about this book. With all of the outlandish, zany, loony tune, ridiculous characters and crazy, hysterical situations they get themselves into, there are hidden depths to this book. Yes, it’s outrageous and hilarious, and it was only after the crazy train pulled into the station (when the book ended) that some of the surface layers peeled back and I started to see more. I began to consider underlying causes, external motivations and driving forces that put things in a different perspective and revealed hidden depths. Color me intrigued. It’s like one of those old sitcoms, where it’s all fun and games (cue canned laughter) but then there’s always an underlying message with one little object lesson or gem of wisdom that leaves you saying, “Hmmm.” So now I can’t wait to see what happens next. That’s the one drawback of having read an early copy, I’ll have to wait a little longer for the next book, but I have no doubt it will be worth it. Just as this book is certainly worth reading. It has a little bit of everything and a lot more than you might anticipate.
The title is a warning. These people are crazy to a T. I did finish this book really quick, but wanted a little time to process what I to say in this review.
I don’t know if this would be something I would pick up if I wasn’t a ARC. Who am I kidding! I like to read about crazy antics of characters. This had pretty much everyone doing out there stuff. Even the one who I thought was sane.
I did like the book. Was a little frustrated with the situations of the characters. Still want to keep going to see what the Davenports get into.
I am not sure who in this family and those connected are crazier! I thought maybe the grandmother YaYa, or the nanny Lucy but pretty much all of them are crazy different. It’s a funny story with so many personalities and characters but no matter what is going on they all share a love for family and now a days it’s really nice to see. It does leave you hanging but I don’t think we have to wait to long.
Crazy is the perfect description!! This will have you seriously laughing because of this family’s hilarious dysfunction. Be prepared just as the authors have warned- this is not their normal type of writing, but their combination with this extra to it will keep you on your toes. A must read!!
