*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*
This is a 3.8 for me, mainly because it was a slow ride in spite of all the emotional drama. There just seemed to be a disconnect between me and Warren. I couldn’t bring myself to be totally into his relationship with Fury because I still thought he was only ever for Sloan. I guess it only took him decades to get over her and their situation. Something I still can’t accept (lol). But I had to, in order to move on, but this thing with Fury just seemed so… sudden. If there had been hints in Sloan’s story, I would have accepted this better. Instead I was constantly wondering if he’d really felt anything for Fury while he was with Sloan after all, and if Fury is the same person as she was when she was first introduced, and if she’s changed, how… and just the fact that I’m more worried about that than anything else that actually happened in the book shows how much I personally needed to get over the Nathan-Sloan-Warren train.
Reading Warren’s trilogy back to back after taking a break from Sloan’s was a little strange for me. His POV is very different from Sloan’s, and his romance with Fury would’ve gone better with me if I’d been able to accept it more than I did. And though this is the most action-packed of the installments, I still thought it read slow until the very end. And then when something finally got accomplished, I couldn’t help but feel that not much had really passed except a lot of romantic stuff and dangerous stuff with the Morning Star. WHO, by the way, didn’t really come off as anyone big and bad. He came off more as a spoiled teen taking dangerous risks to get what he wants. I was a little bummed about that bit.
Overall, it was an okay read. Not amazing, but it wasn’t bad. Just a little slow. And if it wasn’t slow, it seemed so fast with the deaths. Like, people and angels were GONE, but people cried and then moved on. It didn’t seem as serious as I thought it’d be, but maybe that’s just me.
I’ve been avidly following along with Warren, Nathan, Sloan, et. al, throughout Elicia Hyder’s marvelous The Soul Summoner series, and I’m delighted to report that the finale, The Daughter of Zion (Book 9), gives them the send-off they deserve. Superbly written and totally fun, this is a “must get” ending for a great “must read” series.
A final bittersweet story for the Soul Summoners series, I loved the characters and every single book. Looking forward to see Elicia Hyder has up her sleeve.
It has all come down to this; the final battle between good and evil. The Daughter of Zion, is the conclusion of the Soul Summoner series and it goes out in epic proportions! Elicia has a gift for creating characters you will fall in love with, or love to hate; and a universe in which you can completely lose yourself in. The storyline runs continuously from book 1 until this final book, it is best to start at the beginning. Trust me! This book will have you feeling all the feels. I laughed, cried and sat on the edge of my seat with goosebumps waiting to see what would happen next. If you haven’t started this series, you are missing out!
OMG…I loved it! The Daughter of Zion book #9 is the explosive finale of The Soul Summoner series part 2 by Elicia Hyder. If you haven’t read any of the others you are totally missing out! The Daughter of Zion starts where The Guardian left off…Warren and Fury return after rescuing her sister Anya in Nulterra. What an eye opener…it’s 17 years later and the children are almost adults! The battle with the most vile demon to save Heaven and Earth is about to take place and OMG what a battle. I laughed, cried…yelled WTF!!! and a lot of other choice words…I was so upset I was ready to throw my e-reader across the room but I forced myself to continue reading and all I can say is….WOW!! I am so looking forward to her next book.
This was an epic finale to the wonderful Soul Summoner series! I laughed, I cried and I was surprised on more than one occasion. There’s angst, suspense, love, loss, regret, salvation and so much more in these pages along with a beautiful HEA for sure. It’s a highly addictive series that I am sad to see come to an end. This is a must read for sure but start from the beginning! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this story.
The final battle has finally come! The ninth book starts out where the last ended…17 years have passed while Warren, Fury and the others were in Nulterra for two days. Grown adults and angels that now have a whole lifetime packed into those short years. Everyone that is human aged as well. Az lost all his memories of the supernatural and Warren. The Morning Star now controls almost EVERYTHING! He also claims to be As’s son, Michael. The spirit line was destroyed the moment Fury drank the crystal water from Eden and everyone is stuck, including the Father. It will take sacrifices, intelligence, brazen ideas and balls to plan and plot the demise of the Morning Star. Elicia Hyder definitely outdid herself with this finale~ All the new elements to the plot, the part each character plays, and the final chapters that displays her warmth, love of family and humor! She could not have given these characters a better departure…here is hoping there will be another season to the Soul Summoner!
The best series I highly recommend. Page turners from book 1. Elicia knows how to make you feel like you’re there with characters. You will laugh, cry and scream!
Best-Seller!
Amazing! Brilliant! Terrifying! Exhilarating! Satisfying! Addictive! EPIC! There aren’t enough adjectives to describe this phenomenal book–heck, this entire series!
This author, ELICIA HYDER, is mind-blowingly brilliant and so very creative at the very least and she also has to be a bit spooky to be able to come up with not just one of these other-worldly stories, but an entire jam-packed series that holds you on the edge of your seat until it is finished!
I have loved, hated, then loved again Nathan and Warren throughout this series but Zion has made me love them both so much more, but for completely different reasons. You will have to read this series to fully understand what I mean. It was a love/hate relationship with many of the colorful characters as well as a burst of pride for others. There are so many twists and turns, intricate events and gut-wrenching surprises, one couldn’t possible give spoilers without re-writing the entire book.
The true heroes are very evident and the heartwarming revelations are many. Read it! You will love it as much as I do! I just wish (hope) that there is MORE from Asheville!
Way to end a fabulous series. It was dramatic, edge of seat drama packed with moments of sheer adrenalin, a little frustration, some seriously gut wrenching moments counter balanced with some silliness, and heart felt joy.
If you have enjoyed the series so far, this will not disappoint. There are some rather dramatic scenes in the book that I feel a certain someone has contributed a substantial portion of their experiences to these scenes, they almost felt a little too real at times. Thank you for all those that do that work for us for so many reasons.
There are a number of loose ends that wrapped up with a very satisfying ah haa. My favourite moment is with Az made me cry out loud with tears of joy.
Once again, I say this at the end of all your books Elicia, you’ve outdone yourself. Hazaar girl we look forward to your/our next adventure.
