Watch out world — I’m ready to date again. The seven years I invested in my ex left me with nothing but scorch marks from the way he peeled out and left me at the altar. I’m not looking to put my heart into a relationship any time soon. But getting back out there? That sounds like a helluva good idea to get my groove back. Then I bump into Chris….Clever and funny, with a sexy surfer’s bod and a … sexy surfer’s bod and a brilliant nerd brain, he has just the right screwdriver to fix my hard drive. (Yes, the one for my computer.) I wouldn’t mind dating him. The trouble is he just proposed to me—to be the new dating guru on his TV show—and now he’s my new business partner.
What happens when you meet the right person at the wrong time?
Note: Back in the day, I wrote a book called TROPHY HUSBAND, and though it’s no longer available for sale, the characters of Chris and McKenna seemed to demand another chance in the spotlight. THE DATING PROPOSAL is a complete reimagining of their romance, with 85 percent brand-new material, a fresh plot, and vastly expanded characterizations so you can come to know and love Chris and McKenna like I do. Enjoy!

Getting back in the dating saddle can be hard especially when you have no idea how to start or who to choose. It has been years since McKenna has dated or even know what outfit to wear. So it comes as a surprise that when she meets Chris she has no idea who is flirting who. Lauren Blakely not only created such a funny and educational way of dating in well the millenial age every single gal or man will fall for these two. Readers will be able to understand McKenna’s feelings and the frustration of what to wear, how to act and hello that first kiss. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Classic Lauren Blakely… a do not miss!
Love her books!!
5 Kissing Her Is All He Wants To Do Stars!!!
This is an update of a previously released book Trophy Husband and I loved that book so much but let me just tell you, if it’s possible, Ms. Blakely has updated McKenna and Chris’s story and I fell even more in love with them!
This book has all the elements of a Lauren Blakely story that draws me to her books….sassy and smart heroine that’s had a setback in her love life and a swoony and sexy hero that needs McKenna in a bad way….get your minds out of the gutter…he needs her for his dating show!! And well, I’m sure you can guess even though they didn’t want to fall in love…they’re destined for each other.
This is a quick-witted, entertaining and sexy read. I loved everything about this book and this couple. Watching them fall in love while navigating around being hurt previously. Ms. Blakely has done a wonderful job updating a story and bringing more to the story. I’m constantly in awe of her writing and how her comedic brain works because I’m always laughing and smiling my way through her books!

Have you ever found yourself thinking that if a romance novel couple would just communicate, their relationship would be so much better? I have more times than I count, which is why Lauren Blakely’s latest story was so satisfying! The couple in this story communicates…they joke, they flirt, they share secrets and dreams, and when there are issues they work them out by communicating their feelings. It is so refreshingly WONDERFUL! Because it’s a short story, I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll say that the author’s trademark humor, sexy banter, and witty dialogue can all be found on the pages of The Dating Proposal. The low-angst story of McKenna and Chris’ love affair was the perfect choice for a rainy day!
Loved this story and the characters. Love how characters from other stories are involved but it is not necessary that you have read their story.
The Dating Proposal by Lauren Blakely is a standalone contemporary romance novel.
Meet McKenna, she’s fresh out of a relationship and has sworn off on relationships. Just at this time Chris shows up and has a proposal she can’t say no to. He’s the perfect type, nerdy with a brilliant mind and a body to salivating over. And he hires her as dating expert for his tv show. Sarcasm here I come.
The Dating Proposal is an ok read for me. I love the author’s writing, I really truly do, but I couldn’t for the life of me connect with the characters.
The Dating Proposal was formerly published as Trophy Husband, is rewritten, edited and with added material.
The Dating Proposal by Lauren Blakely is a contemporary standalone romance told in dual POV between Chris and McKenna. Quirky, geeky, funny, self-deprecating and with an awesome and hilarious animal cast, this story was everything I’ve come to expect from a Lauren Blakely romance. Humor and heat, snark and sexy times, and a whole lotta fun.
McKenna is a fashion blogger with a solid business plan and an engaged audience. She is looking to expand her follower base and make her content more relatable to males as well as females. Having just made it through the one-year anniversary of being dumped the day before her wedding she comes up with a dating plan and how to blog about it. When her best friends cat commits murder on her hard drive, however, she is forced to pause her plans and seek help. Lo and behold she finds Chris – the fixer of all things tech and a damn good looker too. Shame she doesn’t want to get serious about dating, yet.
Chris has his own show on Webflix but his boss wants him to find a way to gain more female viewers and make his content more relatable to the female audience. When he meets McKenna it’s like the stars aligned and sent her just for him. Shame he has a rule to never get involved with someone he works with because McKenna was made for him. From her classic games addiction to her awesome appreciation of all things food.
Funny and relatable with a slow burn and some great sexy time – I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Another great read by this author. This one gives us McKenna who had her heart ripped out by the man she was supposed to marry. She has survived a year and finally decides it time to get back out there but for fun only. No relationship, no heartache, no problem. Throw in a crazy cat and things get interesting. Meet Chris, hot, funny and perfect. They can’t date. That leads to heartbreak. Oh well the heart wants what the heart wants.
Such a great love story. Two people who had been burned by past love but finally put themselves out there again and found what they needed. I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I loved their story. It’s funny and emotional and gives you the Feel Good in the end. I loved it and highly recommend it.
The Dating Proposal
By: Lauren Blakely
Narrated by: Andi Arndt, Sebastian York
I know I start every review of Lauren Blakely’s with how much I love her books, and how it’s so easy to get lost in her stories. But it is just so true! Each time, it’s a new experience, a new couple and I fall in love. This update to Trophy Husband has Chris and McKenna. These two from the very start have a special chemistry, but what I really loved was that they became friends first. Yes, their attraction was always there, but they did things together and enjoyed their friendship. As it combusts, it just so hot and sexy, you are right there with them, falling hard and fast. McKenna is an interesting woman, looking for the next story, her dates are hysterical. Chris is a nerdy geek, which I love, right down to his 80’s video games, which right there won me over! Give me Qbert, and I am a happy girl! The witty banter, the quick exchanges and the explosive energy from these two left me happy and smiling. Andi Arndt and Sebastian York bring it every time, and there performance of McKenna & Chris just made the story all the better.
But Blakely doesn’t stop there. She gives us a prequel to Satisfaction Guaranteed, called Delayed Satisfaction. It’s a quick listen, narrated by Jason Clarke and Andi Arndt. We get a taste of Sloane and Malone’s (is it weird their names rhyme 🙂 ) story and makes the wait for the release of Satisfaction Guaranteed that much more highly anticipated! I can’t wait!

Lauren Blakely novels just make me happy and The Dating Proposal does that and more. The original version of the story was one of the first books of Ms Blakely’s I read so revisiting this updated version was a lot of fun.
McKenna Bella needs help – her best friends demon spawn cat dropped her laptop and now the hard drive is dead. Being a fashion blogger/influencer her computer is her life so when she takes it to the computer repair store and runs into the sexy Chris – who is way too sexy and smart for his own good McKenna knows she needs to keep him in the friend zone. When he reaches out to her though for help on his show to make it more appealing to the opposite sex McKenna knows the more time she spends with Chris the hard it is to keep him at arm’s length. Getting out of a relationship McKenna feels ready to go out and see what’s out there the problem is that she ends up comparing the guys she dates to Chris, the one guy she can’t have.
The Dating Proposal is charming, funny, with witty dialog and great characters. It’s classic Lauren Blakely rom com that is worth the reread or first read.
As always as soon as I pick up Laurens book I’m hooked.
Loved the story of Chris & McKenna what happens when a surfing gaming nerd meets a fashion crazy gaming dog lady, all thanks to Chaucer the crazy cat.!
The chemistry between the two of them is hot from the start only they don’t know it yet. Chris has trust issues McKenna has commitment issues so they agree to not date and just see where things go the banter between they just flows and the dates just get hotter and so does their relationship, but are they both over there issues you will have to read it to find out I LOL a lot reading this book and i’m sure you will too.
The Dating Proposal by Lauren Blakely is a re-imagining of on of her earlier books, Trophy Husband. Let me say off that this book was a lot of fun, a romantic comedy novel, with large doses of both the romance and the comedy. McKenna was ditched by her fiance, a year ago, and she is ready to move on and get “back out there”. When she meets Chris in a video game store there is a connection. The only problem? Chris wants her to be on his show. That makes anything other than a business arrangement… complicated.
The comedy aspect of this book was very high and sometimes it was a “hate to laugh” moment as things don’t work out. In the end though the romance aspects of the story won me over and the connection between these two characters (now with 2 completely different books to their names) was undeniable and unstoppable. I very much enjoyed what Ms. Blakely created here and had a lot of fun reading it. The Dating Proposal by Lauren Blakely is a book I very much recommend and devoured.
(I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
Mckenna, the heroine here, had me at hello, folks. I loved her funny, sassy, quirky wit and resolve not to go down with the ship known as heartache. She embraced the good things in her life, like the posse of awesome friends and family who always had her back, and the perfect for her fashionista video blogger career. She set a good example for the sisterhood, folks.
Though she considered herself to be in a drought regarding dating experience, I couldn’t help but feel it was raining men all around her. So much so, I had to reread the synopsis to remind myself which guy would be her love interest. Make no mistake though, Chris, the hero, reigned supreme here and was the only person she goes on repeated dates with. They always have a great time together no matter where or what they are doing. You feel their genuine connection as a couple.
Chris has previously been burned by a woman scorned, and he’s determined to avoid that delimina again. This means hands and lips off any co-workers. It’s just his luck that Mckenna seems to be perfect for him. You can’t fight fate though, so this book is basically their flirty, very steamy at times, romantic journey to a HEA.
As usual, Lauren Blakely’s unique writing style flows across the pages and keeps me fully engaged. She’s proven once again why she’s at the top of my favorite romance authors list.
Title: The Dating Proposal, Author: Lauren Blakely, Pages: 304, stand-alone, funny.sassy, fashionista blogger heroine, gorgeous tech geek hero, not a manho, some very steamy scenes, no OW drama, no love triangle, no cheating, goes on a few dates with OW before dating the hero, HEA.
(I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review, nor is there any affiliation or relationship between this reviewer and the author/publisher/PR firm.)
Highly recommend this book!
Soon as I started this I was thoroughly entertained. It was sweet, funny and I loved the banter.
McKenna was left by her Fiance the day before her wedding. A year later she decides shes ready to move on and get back into the dating world.
Chris meets McKenna in a video game shop. He needs to attract more female viewers to his Webflix show and she would be perfect. They start off with a great friendship that is fun and flirty, and leading to much more. They are so adorable together.
I’m not actually sure that I stopped smiling whilst reading this. Lauren will make you swoon too along with the laughter.
Lauren’s first KU release! Don’t miss out! Be prepared to laugh, cry, and swoon!
Lauren Blakely can write a friends to lovers story. This cute story of love that can never be….is fantastic.
McKenna is a fashion blogger who was left by her fiancee just before the wedding. And now a year later she has decided to try dating again.
Chris is a geek with a television show but his boss wants him to bring a more female presence to the show.
McKenna bumps into Chris at a gaming store and they get to talking over a broken hard drive. They both reveal their trust issues.
But they can both help each other with their jobs but they can’t let it become more.
The Dating Proposal was a sweet, witty, heartwarming and absolutely entertaining read. McKenna and Chris are just my kind of quirky and together they are quite the charming pair. The chemistry between them sizzled and I eagerly waited for them to realize what was right in front of them. Their witty banter had me laughing out loud throughout the whole book though they did pull a bit at my heartstringsas well. Funny, steamy, and charming The Dating Proposal was a delightful, feel-good read that put a huge smile on my face.
