Watch out world — I’m ready to date again. The seven years I invested in my ex left me with nothing but scorch marks from the way he peeled out and left me at the altar. I’m not looking to put my heart into a relationship any time soon. But getting back out there? That sounds like a helluva good idea to get my groove back. Then I bump into Chris….Clever and funny, with a sexy surfer’s bod and a … sexy surfer’s bod and a brilliant nerd brain, he has just the right screwdriver to fix my hard drive. (Yes, the one for my computer.) I wouldn’t mind dating him. The trouble is he just proposed to me—to be the new dating guru on his TV show—and now he’s my new business partner.
What happens when you meet the right person at the wrong time?
Note: Back in the day, I wrote a book called TROPHY HUSBAND, and though it’s no longer available for sale, the characters of Chris and McKenna seemed to demand another chance in the spotlight. THE DATING PROPOSAL is a complete reimagining of their romance, with 85 percent brand-new material, a fresh plot, and vastly expanded characterizations so you can come to know and love Chris and McKenna like I do. Enjoy!

Lauren Blakely’s story was just a fun read. I finished way too fast. Totally worth reading.
Several years ago, I was binge-reading the Caught Up in Us series by then new-to-me author, Lauren Blakely. I remember each of those books—I loved them all. They were all so witty and sexy and romantic and well titled – Trophy Husband was my favorite title of the series. Fast forward a few years, and Blakely has reimagined that classic with spectacular results in The Dating Proposal. It’s fresh, it’s fun and it’s full of the feel good, flirty, feisty romance this reader has come to love from her.
I don’t want to give a single word of this story away. I want anyone reading this review to go in as blind as I did, especially if you’ve read its predecessor and you think you know what it’s going to be all about. (Trust me, you don’t.) I’ll just say it’s so much more – more laughter, more heat, more chemistry. This is the kind of story that has romance readers squealing in delight, swooning in their seats and laughing out loud. I loved every single word, every single moment and innuendo.
Blakely is on my short list of no-fail, never-let-me-down authors. I reach for her books when I need a pick me up, and she always but always gives it to me. The Dating Proposal is another in a long line of Blakely’s contemporary romances and romantic comedies I will reach for time and time again. Five smooches from me!

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this story. It was highly entertaining and it had me smiling the whole time I was reading it. I didn’t get to experience Chris and McKenna in the Trophy Husband so this was the first time I got to meet them and I am glad that I did. Each time I read a Lauren Blakely book, I am always left with a smile and I can’t wait to see what she has coming up.
The Dating Proposal was fantastic !! If you’re a Lauren Blakely fan, then I’m sure you’ve probably read the Trophy Husband, which was amazing as it was, but fast forward to the revamped and renamed book, The Dating Proposal, is even better. We get both McKenna and Chris’ POV’s. This book will make you feel good!
After being left at the altar, McKenna never expected she’d open herself up to love again. Her fashion blog is her outlet and she decides to pair her blog with dating to help get herself out there again.
In comes Chris who turns out to be her perfect match. After fixing her hard drive, they realize how much they have in common. So much so that they end up working together. Their shared love of video games and orgasmic Katsup make them fall for each other. However, they both have trust issues that keep getting in the way.
You’re going to love watching this relationship grow! Prepare yourself for lots of laughter, love and friendship!

McKenna has been left by her fiancé a day before the wedding! That was exactly one year ago – and she just realized she’s over him. It doesn’t hurt anymore. Time to get back into the dating world.
Enter Chris. He’s fascinated by McKenna when he meets her in video game store. He needs her for his Webflix show! She would draw in more female viewers. But he’s also really attracted … and he will never make the mistake again of mixing business with pleasure … right?
What will happen with Mckenna & Chris?
Will there be a HEA?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!
That was adorable!
So funny and sweet and crazy and sexy and romantic and San Francisco-y. Full of dog and cat and video games and fashion and food and music. I loved it!
It’s so adorable to see poor McKenna trying to go on dates – when we all know that Chris is her forever-ever-after person! It just takes those two a while to realize that!
There were so many LOL moments in this book – I really loved that, but I also sometimes had the feeling that it was just too much. It tried too hard. There’s almost not a sentence (in conversation) in this book without a joke, a wordgame. a sexual innuendo. A little bit less LOL wouldn’t have hurt the book. It felt like Lauren had a list of 1525 jokes and she had to get them all into this one book instead of making four romantic comedies with it.
It was still a really great rom-com, I loved reading it and I loved Chris and McKenna – but a little less com wouldn’t have hurt this rom!
THE DATING PROPOSAL was a super funny and adorably sweet love story!! Run to your nearest amazon asap for your own Chris – this one is MINE !!!
I absolutely love this book! It is such a super cute, super sweet and super sexy story!! Chris & McKenna are just so stinkin’ adorable together!!! I love both of their characters so much! They have amazing chemistry and some of the sweetest and wittiest banter I’ve heard in a long time. I totally wanted to hang out with them!
Lauren Blakely continues to be on top of her game with this delightful RomCom!!
She just has this wonderful way of making you fall head over heels for her heroes and heroines while she tells such a great story.
I am still smiling!!!!
Is there such thing as too good to be true? Chris and McKenna’s sweet romantic love story is filled with witty banter and killer chemistry.
“The Dating Proposal” by Lauren Blakely was completely adorable, and I loved it so much. It was a quick read featuring endearing characters and a great setting in San Francisco, one of my favorite cities. The banter between main characters Chris and McKenna was hilarious, and I enjoyed the slow burn of their relationship development. They tried so hard to resist their feelings for each other, but in the end, they couldn’t help falling in love.
Lauren Blakely has become one of my go-to authors when I need a good rom-com, and this book is one of my new favorites of hers. I highly recommend it! We could all use a good laugh right now, and this book is sure to deliver.
I needed a feel-good story and this absolutely delivered. McKenna is confident and quirky and that’s such a great combination. Chris is so well-rounded and sweet. They’re great characters and they’re great together. I got swept up into their banter and back-and-forth. And man, there were some steamy moments!
There were a few reasons why I didn’t give it more stars. One, it all felt too easy. Sure, it’s a feel-good story but I wanted more depth so that their wins really resonated with me. Two, I don’t think the title does the story any favors. It doesn’t really convey the essence of the story. Finally, she seemed to forget about Ms. Pac-Man and needing to care for her at one part and it bugged me.
Still, I enjoy reading Lauren Blakely and I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to be uplifted!
We should all have such problems! A broken hard drive in my world is like a drop-in visit from the judgmental PTA President. In Lauren Blakely’s world it leads to a flirty and fabulous hook up for Chris and McKenna that leads to a dating proposal that will make them partners on the radio that leads to much more. How is this fair to the rest of us? Once again, my favorite author has hit it out of the ballpark with another entertaining romantic adventure that’s witty, sexy and just plain perfect!
Real page turner couldn’t put it down.
Love this author, so can’t wait to read this!
I’m a one-clicker for Lauren Blakely. When I’m in the mood to laugh and need some steam, she’s my go-to author and The Dating Proposal is another winner!
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel by Lauren Blakely and this review was given freely.
A fun and flirty steamy romance with wonderful characters, steamy innuendos and off color humor blended with a gaming and Web theme.
McKenna and Chris story is a revamp/ fresh approach of the characters in Trophy Husband. Spurred on by a chance meeting with her ex Todd and his new wife Amber one year after her almost wedding,The Fashion Hound blogger McKenna develops a ratings booster by combining her reemergence to dating with a focus on fashion. Her plan is helped along by chance encounters with the recently divorced Steven Crane owner of Madcap, WebFlix’s Geeking Out host and computer genius Chris and with the help of her friends.
Love a good nerd romance – and I’m a sucker for a natural surf bod boy. A wonderful read.
“Love is scary and terrifying and wonderful and enchanting all at the same damn time.”
This book will have you laughing, smiling, give you a tinge on uncertainty and heartache, leave you hopeful and ready to face your greatest fears.
“Hello, groove. Nice to see you. I’ve missed you bunches.”
I love how realistic this book is. If you’ve ever loved or had your heart broken you will be able to relate to this story. If you haven’t you will have the insight of what’s ahead for you one day.
“My heart executes a back handspring in my chest…I didn’t know my heart knew that move. It nailed the landing too.”
I can’t wait to crack open MOST VALUABLE PLAYBOY to get the story on a character introduced in The Dating Proposal.
Great read, steamy details and good storyline
I hate to say this, because I’ve loved every Lauren Blakely book I’ve read, but I did not finish this book. I got through maybe 5 chapters and stopped. I’m not sure exactly why, but I could not get into this book. Maybe I was distracted or something, but every other good book I’ve read has been able to consume my attention. I may go back and try to read it again, ONLY because it’s Lauren Blakely and maybe it was just me and not the story. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 for the single fact that she is the author.
A super cute, super fun read with a sexy, charming hero and a smart, confident heroine. I enjoyed the simple storyline and the endearing characters. Chris and McKenna were adorable, and I really enjoyed their banter. Their connection made me smile. Like their relationship, their story was effortless. It was all humor and all heart. The Dating Proposal is a perfect weekend read!

Could not finish this book. I just love Lauren Blakely and I read Trophy Husband a few years ago. Ms. Blakely said she had written this book again and add a lot to the story. However, I felt it was disjointed and it didn’t hold my interest. Sooooo
I could not finish it.
