They Say You Never Forget Your First Kiss…But I really want to. It was with my best friend’s brother, Nolan. And he’s the most annoying, most aggravating, most arrogant man I’ve ever met. Just because he’s handsome and charming he thinks all women should fall to their knees. Well, I’ll tell you something. I, Julia Gilbert will certainly not be falling, again. They Say You Can’t Choose Your … You Can’t Choose Your Coworkers…
But I really need to. Because the worst thing that could happen has just happened to me. Nolan, yes the Nolan, is now my coworker. And what’s worse is that he’s been hired to follow me around on my dates for my new column. Because isn’t that what a girl needs in her life? Her childhood crush watching her make a fool of herself on dates for her job?
They Say That You Should Never Mix Work With Pleasure…
But I may have just crossed that line. In the very best of ways. And besides it was only one night. Can’t a girl have some fun? There’s only one problem. Nolan is not part of my meticulous plan for the future. There’s another man I have my eye on. Only Nolan doesn’t seem to get the fact that just because he was my first kiss doesn’t mean he will be my last.

5 STARS for The Dating Plan by J.S. Cooper
This book was reissued with a new title / cover & sent to me by the author to review. This is my honest opinion and has not been influenced in any way !
Just when I think I have read the one book I absolutely LOVE by this author there is a new story / characters I love equally or EVEN MORE – in this case Jules & Nolan are no exception.
This book had me laughing out loud – secondary characters are great as well & sounds like they are also getting a book !! Something I will also really look forward to …
Jules is a writer and is given the assignment to go on 30 Dates in 30 Days. Nolan her teenage crush & best friends older brother is the photographer assigned to accompany her on these dates. Nolan has been many firsts for Jules & she is secretly still harboring a massive crush on him that she has never gotten over.
As far as a great read & romance this book packs a punch !!
Great characters / secondary characters
Cupcakes
Snarky humor
Great chemistry
Angst
Super sweet HEA
In this case The Dating Plan turns into a plan for a serious relationship for Jules & Nolan – quite possible with a wedding in their future !!
Great read loved it !!!
Highly recommend this book & author !!!
This is a fun read! It’s sexy and infuriating all at the same time! Jules is a journalist in a small town with a terrible assignment 30 dates in 30 days. Then to make things worse, her photographer and videographer is the most annoying guy on the planet, her best friend’s brother Nolan. It’s a disaster from the start! Then to add to the mess, Jules calls her life her secret admirer has started to write again. Get cozy cause you won’t be able to put this book down!
I tend to like the small town romances so this was a treat. I enjoyed the story line and the characters. I thought the author did an excellent job.
I strongly recommend
I was given an ARC for this book in return for an honest review.
Nolan Comes Across As A Jerk, But By The End He Is Adorable! Jules Is A Big Mess, But Blossoms When She Finally Finds Love. Nolan And Jules’s Story Is A Light And Playful Small Town Slow Burn Romance.
This is book one of The Love Plan series, previously released as Queen of First Dates. The series is set in Canyon Beach, a small beach town in which everyone knows one another and gossip travels fast. For the last two years, though, newcomers have been moving into the area, attracted by the beach. This is Nolan and Julia’s story.
Julia Garwood, twenty-six, is focused on her career in journalism. She had expected to find herself writing serious stories by now. She has worked at the Canyon Beach Chronicle since college. Dissatisfied, she asks her editor, Malcolm, to be assigned a serious story, but soon comes to regret it. Thirty dates in thirty days. She is to write about her online dating experience and gin up online clicks for the Chronicle, which is struggling in a changing industry. Moreover, her best friend’s brother will be the photographer on the assignment. He will accompany her on all her dates, filming and taking pictures to accompany the article online.
Jules and Betsy have been best friends since childhood, and she has consequently spent a great deal of time around Betsy’s older brother, Nolan. Nolan brings out the worst in Jules. They argue like siblings, and he criticizes her incessantly. He was her first kiss ten years ago. But she was three years younger than him and he was graduating. Nothing ever became of it, but the kiss meant everything because Nolan was her first crush. She hasn’t had a great kiss since, and her dating life has been rather non-existent for some time. She decides it is time for her to finally move on. Her current assignment, as much as she would rather pass on it, presents a perfect opportunity to get out of her comfort zone and find true love, but with Nolan watching every minute of her dates and criticizing her every move, it promises to be the worst assignment ever.
Nolan Montgomery, twenty-nine, is a photographer with a budding career as a filmmaker, too. He could move to Hollywood, but chooses to stay in Canyon Beach, his small hometown. He declared he wouldn’t marry when he was young, and today his relationships never last more than a month or two. But he enjoys hanging out his with his best friend, Officer Jefferson Evian, and occasional meals with his family. He often sees his sister and her best friend at those meals. He can’t help himself when he gets near Jules. She complains he is mean, but she is so immature that she is asking to be put in her place.
Nolan and Jules have a very complicated relationship. They share a strong bond due to their shared history. Jules has spent much time in the Montgomery household over the years, so the two are practically like siblings. They have a unique level of comfort with one another, but they also share a few secrets. As obvious as it is to close observers that Nolan and Jules have chemistry underneath the jabs, neither of them is proactive. Left to their own devices, they might never find one another. The dating assignment, though, brings them in close contact and provides an opportunity so that the conversations that need to happen can finally take place. Nolan comes across as a jerk, but by the end he is adorable. Jules is a big mess, but taking the next step with Nolan should allow her to move beyond her defensive stance when around him and help her shed some of her immaturity. The couple gets their brief happy ending.
The next book is Betsy Montgomery and Jefferson Evian’s story – Nolan’s sister and his best friend. They begin flirting in this book, and the story ends with Betsy in crisis.
Nolan and Jules’s story is a light and playful small town romance. Drama is kept to a minimum in this slow burn. Seeing the couple finally open up after so many years of misunderstanding is very rewarding. The story is nicely written. The plot is fairly simple; the history is slowly revealed. The characters are nicely developed. The story is written in first person from Julia’s POV. I rate this book four stars.
I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
**spoiler alert** I received a free copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review which in no way has been influenced and is my own opinion.
This is the story of Jules and Nolan. Nolan is Jules best friends Betsy’s brother. She has had a crush on him for years and thought he never liked her as he was always being horrible to her. After sharing her first kiss with him and later wanting him to take her virginity too (he declined), she thought he would never like her even though years later she still fancied him. Jules began getting love letters in the post again which she hadn’t received since being in high school. She believe it to be a guy in her old English class and when they connected via a dating app she realised it wasn’t him. She had joined the dating apps as her boss the the town newspaper wanted her to cover stories on what it was like to date in the modern way via online. This horrified her especially when she found out that she would be filmed for the online side of their publication, and then found out that Nolan was the photographer/videographer!
Without giving any more of the storyline away, I found this an enjoyable read with some funny parts, my favourite line being…’Well, you’re going to look all hot in the photo and then show up looking like Quasimodo’!
Really enjoyed this sexy, fun and laugh out loud action packed adventure in dating with a twist. This journey is filled with engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and undeniable slow burning passion.. A great read from beginning to end and so hard to put down.
This is the first book in the The Love Plan series. Jules has been in love with her best friend’s older brother, Nolan, since she was in high school and the feeling is mutual although they bring out the worst, most childish behavior in each other. They’re forced to work together on a series about online dating and Nolan’s jealousy starts to show. In an effort to get Jules to see him, he devises reasons to hangout with her constantly.
This was a sweet read with plenty of drama, misunderstandings, and witty banter. If you’re looking for something short and fun, then this is your book.
I received an ARC of the book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a funny story mixed in with some undeniable tension and misunderstandings. I found myself getting frustrated at times with both Nolan and Jules with their inability to communicate and their games. I thought it took them way too long to confess their feelings. But once they finally came together, it was amazing! It had me panting. I wish there would have been more at the end however, like an epilogue to see how it all turned out in the future.
I enjoyed this book. The storyline was fun, cute and a bit over the top. I thought Nolan and Jules were a combination of likable and frustrating. I loved their chemistry and the witty banter they shared but I wish they hadn’t both seemed so clueless. Also, I would have liked if they had shown a tad more maturity. Even with these petty annoyances I felt that this was a very entertaining romance. I am posting an independent, impartial review.
I love how Jules and Nolan seem to hate each other but after being thrown together for work things change. Jules had a crush on Nolan in high school and Nolan thought of Jules like a sister. You must read what happens to them
I found the plot was well developed and written.
It flows smoothly and the interaction and chemistry
Is great between the characters.

“The Dating Plan” (The Love Plan Book 1) by J. S. Cooper is a great read. I enjoyed Julia ‘Jules’ and Nolan’s story. This is a good start to this series. This story has romance, humor, close friends, small-town life, and more. I’m looking forward to reading more of this series. Recommend to fans of romance, close friends, and series.
The ailing newspaper that journalist Julia Gilbert works at needs a hit and tasks Julia with writing an online dating series by going on 30 dates in 30 days. Even worse? Julia’s high school crush Nolan Montgomery, the bane of her existence, will be tagging along on Julia’s dates taking photos and videos. Nolan thinks the online dating articles are a great idea but why’s he so grumpy when Julia starts getting date requests?
The Dating Plan is a funny, drama-filled, steamy story full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing. I can’t wait to read Betsy’s story in The Hookup Plan, Book 2 of The Love Plan series.
The Dating Plan is the first book in The Love Plan series. It is a best friend’s brother romance with plenty of drama, suspense, mystery, jealousy, a touch of heartbreak, attraction, witty banter, humor, and it all wraps up with a great happily ever after.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
Loved this book from start to finish. I loved Nolan and Jules chemistry from the start. I worked out who Fitz was early on as Nolan kept asking Jules strange questions. I do love HEA and this book doesn’t disappoint. Loved the banter and the teasing. Think Grandma Elsie had something planned for them both to get together. Also Stella could see that Nolan loved Jules too. Let’s hope the 29 dates Jules still has left won’t be too bad for their relationship. A great read truly recommend.
I really enjoyed this book from start to finish, the characters are well developed and engaging, there’s a great chemistry with tonnes of sexual frustration and not to forget the humour and laughter. Julia “Jules “Gilbert had crushed on her best friend Betsy’s elder brother Nolan since her freshman years but that was all behind her now !!!!!
As a reporter Jules was assigned to provide an article with video prof of her exploits of having 30 different dates in 30 days to increase her newspapers ratings. The task itself was bad enough but when she realises who her side kick would be she suspects it would end in disaster. When her past re-emerges and areas of miscommunications are thrown into the mix maybe her future looks better than she thought?? I highly recommend this book, it’s definitely not one to miss. I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I was happy to provide.
The Dating Plan is a sweet and delightful best friend’s older brother story of Nolan Montgomery and Julia Gilbert who have known each other because of her best friend, Betsy. They live in the small town of Canyon Beach, where everyone knows your whole life’s story. Jules spent so much time at her best friend Betsy’s house that Nolan felt like her brother…or maybe not! She has always had a crush on him, but she doesn’t think he notices her except to call her nerd and give her unsolicited advice. But he looks at her with affection and wonder as she grows up right in front of his eyes. I think he fell in love with her the night he played Romeo to her Juliet and taught her how to kiss for her role. He never stopped teasing her mercilessly and, in her heart, Jules secretly loved it. Ten years later, Jules’ boss calls her into his office and says the newspaper is losing too much money and he’s going to shake it up. He assigns her to do a series on using an online dating app to go on 30 dates and she’s anything but happy. When she finds out that Nolan is going to follow her around, videoing her dates, how uncomfortable! It turned out to be anything but uncomfortable and the twists regarding the book, the note and Fitz are perfection.
Excellent confrontation
I loved the character of Jules / Julia, who has character and who expresses it quite clearly in front of Nolan who spends his time annoying and teasing her. On the other hand, the fact that she never sees what’s going on in front of her also annoyed me. It’s right that she has to manage a story (that she doesn’t want to write) with her ex crush, with whom she does not want to work; she has to have 30 dates for her subject, with Nolan as cameraman to disturb her; and she has to write letters to a secret ex-admirer.
10 years ago, Julia had her first kiss from Nolan, the brother of her best friend. He spent more time laughing at his nerdy side and chasing girls than anything else. 10 years later, she is a journalist and a photographer. He will have to assist her on an article on the subject of what to do or not to do during a first date, but Julia is not an expert at all and Nolan will help her in his own way. Their oppositions are pretty funny from the beginning to the end, even if you quickly feel that something is not said. (I almost expected worse than the revelation made because of the way the characters argue or kiss each other)

“Cute”
Although Julia is 26 and focused on her journalism career socially she appears quite naïve. Coincidentally when she asks her editor to assign her a serious story her assignment is to write a story about online dating. Serious, right? Even better her best friend’s brother, Nolan, is the photographer assigned to her for the project. You’ll enjoy the interaction between the two as their relationship progresses. A delightful light read.

This is book one in the The Love Plan series. This is Julia and Nolan’s story. This story has a unique spin on the best friend’s brother romance. Nolan was Julia’s first kiss but they seemed to turn to oil and water after that. Now Julia has a job as a columnist, her current project is to go on a date and research for her column. This is fine until she gets a new coworker that is to follow her. This new coworker is Nolan, Julia is beside herself, how awkward. It gets worse before it can get better, right? These two characters have great chemistry and fire between them that makes it a fun and exciting story to read. Lets not forget all the other characters that float in around in this book, I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for them. Enjoy!
