The Date Next door is the third book in the Do-over series written by Susan Hatler.
Hannah has been in love with her best friends brother for a long time. Ever since Blake offered to take her to her prom in high school, she has loved him. However she has kept her secret to herself into her adult years. Her best friend did not even know about it. Everything had been going good in her life until the day Blake moved in next door to them.
Hannah needed to seal a deal with a client who would not return her calls. He was a big time golfer so she thought what a better way to get to him was joining in on a charity golf game. This ended up very bad for her at the end.
Will she and Blake hit it off or not? and will she snag her client? You must read this book to find out.

Hannah moves in with her best friend, Lucy. And Lucy’s brother, Blake, moves next door. Hannah had a huge crush on him in high school. Does she know how he really felt about her then? I love Hannah’s style, especially her pink sneaks. (My favorite shoes right now are pink chucks!) And especially like when she pairs them with her black prom dress. Her quirky style serves her well in business also. She and Blake are cute and funny together. He’s so patient with her when trying to teach her how to golf. And when she comes down with a fake illness, he understands that popcorn and chocolate are ancient (fake) illness remedies. And when he re-created prom for her – well, that was just totally swoon-worthy!

HANNAH AND LUCY HAVE BEEN FRIENDS FOREVER AND BLAKE IS LUCY’S HUNKY BROTHER.
WHEN HANNAH MOVES IN WITH LUCY SHE DID NOT KNOW THAT HER CRUSH (BLAKE) LIVED NEXT DOOR. THIS IS REALLY CUTE STORY WITH FRIENDS THAT TURNED INTO MORE ONCE THEY BOTH MATURE AND REALIZE THEY HAVE BOTH CHANGED AND GROWN UP. LOVED THE STORY AND THE CHARACTERS.
Hannah Griffin and Blake Remington’s sister, Lucy, have been friends since high school, so Hannah has known Blake for years and has always had a crush on him. When Hannah rents the extra bedroom from Lucy, she soon discovers Lucy’s older brother lives right next door! Let the fun begin!
This book is actually fun to read and will most definitely put the reader in fits of giggles or outright laughter! The golf tournament is a wonderful experience when Hannah partners with Blake – but has no idea how to golf! The characters are well developed and personable, their attraction sizzling. And the action heats up when the ex-girlfriend, Cassandra, decides she wants Blake back! Will he foolishly return to her? The story line flowed smoothly from beginning to end and the fun never stops!
This was a lot funnier than I expected. I found myself trying to be quiet so as not to wake the whole house. I really just wanted to laugh out loud. This is quirky, funny, sweet, with some low angst thrown in.

Funny and sweet second chance romance. I really loved Blake. He’s a keeper.
Hanna has liked her best friend’s older brother Blake since she was a teenager. He was kind of nerdy but he was kind and sweet and she loved his beautiful brown eyes. She almost got to got to her senior prom with him, but her ex-boyfriend ruined it. Now five years later, she hasn’t seen Blake in years, and he has been in a long term relationship. Little did she know that when she moved in with her best friend, Blake was living in the townhouse next door, and her feelings for him haven’t gone away. But his family comes from money, as well as his girlfriend. She is just middle class. Would he ever see her as more than the friend of his sister? As always I love reading books by Susan Hatler and this ones no exception. Hannah has always had a crush on Blake but stayed away since he’s her best friends brother. But when a potential client won’t answer calls and she finds out this client will be at a golf tournament that Blake has tickets to she goes all in on trying to get the client. Great romance!

Oh my gosh! This is just so utterly adorable. It’s a little bit second chance, a whole lot best friend’s sibling, and all kinds of fun. My heart broke for Hannah every time it looked like she wasn’t going to achieve her dreams. There were so many times I wanted to take Blake and shake some sense into him. It was so easy to see how much he cared for Hannah, but he kept letting circumstances get between them. I loved the ending. It’s so sweet, and cute, and is pretty much the perfect Hallmark movie moment.

A few of my Goodread friends read and loved this book so I requested it from NetGalley. What a fun read!! Hannah and Blake have known each other for years, because Hannah and Blake’s sister Lucy have been friends since high school. When Hannah rents the extra bedroom from Lucy she has no idea that her secret crush will be living next door!! Hannah and Blake have the cutest meet-again (is that a thing, well it is now) and I can’t imagine how Hannah felt, but I know I Would. Have. Died. on the spot. Like the floor couldn’t have opened a portal to swallow me fast enough. I hate embarrassing moments and this was a whopper.
I loved Blake and I loved Blake and Hannah together. Who knew learning golf could be so sexy and swoony? I guess if you have someone like Blake teaching you. The mini-golf game was great and I certainly pictured the looks they probably got from the other people at the miniature golf place. Lol.
On the other hand I didn’t like Blake’s parents at all. They reminded me of the parents of the titled men and young ladies in Regency times–marrying for business and status, and not for love. Who would want their child to marry someone they didn’t love?!!! Thankfully Blake fortifies his backbone and respectfully but firmly tells them he and Cassandra are over and have been. His “speech” at the big gala would make any girl swoon. *happy sigh*
This isn’t a very long book–around 100 pages, so just a couple of hours of escape to romanceland (another made up word?) with wonderful characters. I’ll definite check out more of this “do-over-date-series” and others by this author. This is a clean romance.
I am super excited for Hannah’s story. I love the best friend’s brother angle. This story was better done than I expected. As always, amazing characters. Wonderful life lessons and golden nuggets of truth in this book about accepting yourself.

A perfectly delightful story!
When Hannah found herself volunteering to help her best friend’s handsome brother, Blake, by agreeing to partner with him for a charity golf tournament, she really didn’t know what she was getting herself into. She just knew she didn’t know how to play golf. I love how she tried really hard to learn, though having a teacher like Blake certainly kept her motivated to keep trying.
Her first excellent drive had a hilarious result! And her golfing on the day of the tournament when she was intimidated by Blake’s (maybe) ex-girlfriend and her catty remarks was so funny! (Talk about your stereo-typical bratty rich girl! Blake’s ex was awful – but perfect for the story. Why do we always love the terrible characters like her in a not-liking them kind of way?) To make matters even worse for poor Hannah, the very man she was trying to encourage to hire her for handling his social media witnessed a meltdown. Yikes!
The Date Next Door was a quick read and just perfect for a day when you want to just relax and laugh and enjoy. Full of chick lit humor and sweet romance, it hit the spot perfectly!
