Knowing they have no future together, and the consequences of furthering their relationship would be disastrous, they forge ahead in the conflict against the Dark Lord. But the Universe is fickle and can muddle with even the best laid intentions…
**The Etherya’s Earth series is best read in order so the reader can enjoy the evolution of the characters. After all, the author loves a good twist and wants the reader to uncover them organically. However, readers of romance rest assured that each book has its own featured hero/heroine and HEA.

DarkRip has his fathers blood running through his veins, he also has his beautiful mother’s blood too. His mother had been the beautiful Rina, the Queen of the Slayera, captured, tortured and abused by his father Crimeous, Dark Lord (Demon) DarkRip was the product of that unholy union. He’s always tried to balance his blood lust and violence, but coming from such an evil bloodline DarkRip has struggled.
But he’s given a new direction when he finds out about the Prophecy a sword will end his fathers reign of tyranny. And it will be wielded by a child with Slayera blood. In the first book Miranda tries, no luck, second book DarkRip tries, he too is unsuccessful, so now they have to persuade his other sister (and she’s not having any of it!) Now in between trying to kill his father and help find his sister he’s having thoughts of a certain princess! He knows he shouldn’t be so mean to her! But she she just brings out the worst in him! All he can do is think about her, but that will never happen, she hates him, he on the other hand is fascinated with her….
Arderin is sister to Heden, Sathan and Latimus, she loves her brothers dearly, but they are driving her crazy! Her eldest brother keeps her locked in a gilded cage! She can fight just as well as her brothers, but she wants to be a doctor, and going to the human world to study would help her immensely, but that’s never going to happen! And now that two of her brothers are bonded (mated) she has to watch all this love being thrown around! She’d like someone to look at her that way, but the only attention she’s getting at the moment is from DarkRip! Ugh!! No thanks, he’s just ….. NO!! Not happening!!
Aderin gets a chance at going to human world. And DarkRip gets a chance to look for his sister. Proving useful for Aderin, but useless they return to their world, but are captured by Crimeous! As the days turn into weeks, Aderin faces starvation (she needs blood to survive!)
This one was awesome, we’ve known of both these characters from the first book. The Acton is fast paced, the fight scenes are good. And watching both Aderin and DarkRip fight their feelings for one another was interesting.
And we get a twist that I didn’t see coming…..
I didn’t know how she was going to be able to convince me DarkRip was going to be a hero! But we have been watching him trying to aid his half sister Miranda in defeating his father. Fighting to be good, and doing the right thing.
I’m definitely ready for the next book in this fantastic series.
Alright I am happy right now! I finally reached Darkrip’s story in the series. How I love that Deamon so.
Darkrip has been cursed by the goddess for centuries, how can I put this…….by having an upright stake in his pants for eternity to remind him, he was birthed through rape and tortured. Always in pain and never finding rest. Well his life just got more complicated when he set his plan in motion to kill his father the Dark Lord and used Ardien to do it. Ardien the spoiled Vampyre Princess, who has a sassy mouth, high dramatics, and love to give her brothers heart attacks. Ardien wants to go into the human world and experience life and to become a doctor. When she needs a special formula and it’s in the human world and there’s only one deamon for the job, they have to come together to help with both their missions. He is their to protect her but find out they have many hiccups that they have to overcome.
If you like paranormal romance and your not so traditional heroes and heroines then this series is for you. Rebecca Hefner series has action, romance, a whole lot of smack talk, and heartbreak in this series. She gives you everything you need in a story. This series has become one of my favorites and I could not put down this book. Even with Darkrip’s horrid past and his transgressions against women, you still have the need to cheer for him no matter what. When an author can proceed to write an evil character turned into a great man and actually feeling that he changed, well that my friends is an excellent storyteller. If you haven’t read this series or tried one of Hefner books please do. It will capture you and give you one hell of a ride.
Awww typing through happy tears. That was perfect and my favourite of this series so far.
This was Arderin and Darkrips story and book 3 of Etheryas Earth series by Rebecca Hefner.
I already loved Darkrip from their previous books but I was worried I wouldn’t like temper tantrum throwing Arderin but she actually blew me away. Talk about resilient! She took everything Darkrip threw at her and laughed. He doesn’t believe he deserves happiness and does everything in his power to turn her away and she is like is like ‘that all you have’ The arguments this pair have are amazing! It really was their form of flirting.
He wants her but thinks she deserves better
as his Daemon blood from his father side worries him that he is more evil than good. He is also half Slayer and has been trying to be good for a while now following seeing his mum in a vision. His relationship with both his sisters is brilliant. He is such a good guy, the best but he just can’t see it.
The set up for Evie’s book is so exciting. That girls back story is seriously dark and we haven’t even scratched the surface.
Mentioning my favourite reality TV show vanderpump rules was funny.
Rebecca did an amazing job with this sassy steamy PNR and can’t wait to see Evie and the take down of the evil dark lord.
Top marks 5/5
I have been looking forward to Darkrip and Arderin’s story and The Darkness Within delivered!!!
Darkrip has been a favorite character of mine since his introduction. I love his tortured, broody self and I couldn’t wait to see his attraction to Arderin grow. Also I’m a huge sucker for the enemies to lovers trope and that was basically their relationship in a nutshell!
Hefner does an incredible job of drawing out their struggle to accept their feelings for each other coupled with Darkrip’s evil side and Arderin’s stubbornness. And when they finally got together…I won’t spoil anything but let me just say this was my favorite sex scene Hefner has written so far!
The Darkness Within continues my love for the Etherya’s Earth series. This is such a great story and I can’t wait to read the next installment.
These characters are so intertwined all of their stories continue to grow with each one. This is Arderin’s story though and she finally puts her foot down and starts making choices she’s wanted. But like all fantasies, she faces her fair share of struggles along the way. We get to see more of Evie who’s been popping in and out of the story as we go so it was nice to have more of her. Darkrip also gets some surprises he isn’t equipped to handle. I enjoy the banter. I love that it’s all races and now all characters are perfect. Each struggles with their own demons and are all fighting to make some one around them lives better. I can’t wait to see if Arderin’s serum works!!! Will be getting the next book in my ears soon. The narrator remains the same and is quite consistent with his voices.
A virgin royal Vampyre and a half-daemon with a curse to always be sexually aroused seem like two polar opposites, but oddly they work.
This is the third book of the series and is darker and heavier, since we get a lot more knowledge on Darkrip’s life and his struggle not only to remain on his good behavior, but also to come to terms with his feelings for Arderin, the sassy virgin Vampyre who just wants to get laid already…
It’s a moving story and Darkrip is my favorite character of them all, even if I do have a little crush on all the boys and would love to be BFF with Miranda, Lila, Arderin and Sadie.
It is beautiful to witness the discovery of love in a heart that was thought to be dead.
A HEA page-turner heart-warming story definitely worth reading!
I received a free ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion
Overall it was a good book. The only thing that I didn’t care for was the overuse is the word or reference to rape. Yes, I get that one is a demon and his father is evil but it just seemed very over the top. Good story though and characters and an sweet HEA!
A wonderful steamy addition to Rebecca Hefner’s vampire and slayer series. Darkrip, son of the Dark Lord has spent centuries fighting his dark urges that flow from his father’s blood. He swore to his mother that he would change his ways for her. Arderin, whose scenes of longing to live in the human world were some of my favorite, is a temptation and perhaps the key to his happiness. But of course, his evil father gets in the way, trapping them in a cave together and ordering them to produce super-poweful spawn he can use for his nefarious purposes… (cue evil music!) I LOVE this series for its complex world building, snark, hawt steamy scenes and wonderful characters. Darkrip and Arderin were delicious together! Rebecca Hefner writes wonderfully romantic, passionate paranormal romance, and I love that her books not only focus on the main couple we’re getting to watch fall in love in the current book, but we get to continue with the love stories of the couples from the previous books. Paranormal romance fans should check out these slayers and vamps as they find their true mates!
The Darkness Within is the third book in author Rebecca Hefner’s Etherya’s Earth series. If you’ve read my previous reviews on the first two books in this series, you already know I absolutely loved them. Ms. Hefner has a wonderful gift of telling a story and just when you think this is your favorite of the series, she brings you a new story and a new hero to drool over. Darkrip ranks up there as one of my all-time favorites!
Arderin is the sister of Sathan the Vampyre King. She longs to be a doctor, to have a purpose in her life. She’s extremely intelligent but yet her brothers seem to only focus on her dramatics.
Darkrip is the son of the Dark Lord. He is the half brother of Miranda the heroine from the first book. He’s tormented with nightmares of his father raping and torturing his mother.
Well if you’ve read the first two books in this series, you’ve met Darkrip and Arderin. If you haven’t you really need to read them! Darkrip and Arderin have played a major role in this series since book one when Darkrip pushed Arderin in the river to be found by his half-sister, Miranda. I absolutely loved the tension and the bickering between these two. They don’t seem to like each other, but yet there is an awareness that you sense from the beginning, an undeniable energy between them. Darkrip is such a tortured soul, you just want him to see his worth and get over his past to gain happiness. As for Arderin, I really liked her. She may come off as stubborn and overdramatic to those around her at times, but she’s an intelligent, caring and determined young woman who wants what’s best for those she loves. I loved how she sees the good in Darkrip and tries to convince him he’s worthy of love.
Ms. Hefner has done it again with this story. I honestly couldn’t put it down! I loved Darkrip and Arderin and watching these two finally find a way to find happiness together. Their epilogue was perfect and it made their story complete. I’ve truly enjoyed all the characters in this series and am anticipating the final book as we get closer to the final battle between Evie and her father. This was another fabulous book to add to this series and one of my personal favorites! Highly recommend both the book and the series!
The feels are real!
My god! I’ve been looking forward to Arderin and Darkrip’s story since the first book. Darkrip is my absolute favourite character. Who doesn’t love a tortured hero?
I adored these two. Arderin is so dramatic and sassy. Their arguments had me in stitches. They were absolutely hilarious together. And the steam? Oh my! Kinky I’m so glad I got to witness their love story and a redeemed Darkrip
I really couldn’t put this book down. I wanted desperately for them to have their happy ending. After the horrors of Darkrip’s life, he totally deserved to find the right woman to teach him how to love. And it was absolutely everything!
I really can’t wait for the next book. I was totally shipping Evie and Kenden from day one so I’m even more excited now
