Sasha Lenoir is back in Winchester to take care of the funeral of her Grandma, who raised her after the murder/suicide of her parents 27 years ago, and to get everything in order at which point she will return to NYC to her 13 year old daughter and fantastic career.
While there she wants to look into the murder and supposed suicide by her Father. However Sasha has very clear memories of the night her parents were killed and has never believed her Father killed her Mom nor himself. She asks her old friend, Branch Holloway, an FBI agent to help her. She had a one night stand with him years ago and never mentioned he has a daughter.
Will Sasha and Branch be able to figure out what really happened to her parents all those years ago and will Sasha tell Branch about his daughter? You’ll have to read The Dark Woods to find out.
I am really enjoying this series by Debra Webb. Winchester is a small town and so these stories include other characters from the other novels. However you don’t have to read each one to read them. I would suggest it as you get to know an entire town of people. Very enjoyable and would definitely recommend this.
I was given an ARC for my honest review of this book.

Wow another great book by Debra Webb. This book captured my attention from the beginning with its fast-paced compelling story line. It was so good that I could not put it down. I was reading with my tablet in one hand and cleaning with the other. The Dark Woods is a wonderful addition to the Winchester, TN Thriller series. The characters are very well developed, and the storyline is so compelling that you will be turning the pages as quickley as you can.
Sasha returns to her hometown to attend to the funeral of her grandmother Vivian Simmons (Vi). Both of her parents were killed in an apparent murder- suicide by her father 27 years ago when she was 9 years old. Sasha’s memories tell a whole different story than what the police say happened that night . Determined to finally discover who killed her parents she gets Marshal Branch Holloway to help her. Not only is he her former lover, but she has a long-held secret that she’s kept from him for 12 years. Will Sasha and Branch be able to figure out what happened to her parents all those years ago ?? Will Sasha tell Branch about his daughter? The search of what happend was so full of twist and turns and kelpt me guessing til the end.
Sasha and Branch were both characters that you will fall in love with and be cheering them on. The author also did a excellent job of intertwining some of the characters from In Self Defense into this story as well. Which I LOVED ! I am really enjoying this series and cannot wait for the next book to be released!!! This is my second book by Debra Webb and will not be my last. I have fell I love with her writing style and I’m planning on reading all her books. So be on the look out for more reviews. If you love a well written thriller, suspense, mystery and a bit of romance then this book is for you.
The Dark Woods

Debra Webb
Living your life with the horror of your parents murder knowing it didn’t happen the way you were told takes a toll on you. Also living with your own secret can take a toll. Will Sasha be able to prove who killed her parents? Will she be able to finally reveal her secret?
This is another gripping suspense story from Debra Webb that keeps you holding your breath while scratching your head as roadblocks are introduced as Sasha and Branch work to make things right.
Come to Winchester and discover a thrilling ride of suspense from start to finish.
When Sasha Lenoir returns home for her Grandmother’s funeral and to settle her affairs, she decides to look into what really happened to her parents twenty seven years ago. In order to do it, she asks for help from Marshal Branch Holloway, which is her former lover. How can she discover the truth about her parents when she can’t share her own secret with Branch.
A fast paced page turner with great character development. Some cross over from the first Winchester, Tennesse Thriller, along with references to Ms. Webb’s new series The Undertakers Daughter. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Sasha Lenoir returns home to Winchester, TN to attend the funeral of the grandmother that raised her. Both of her parents were killed in an apparent murder- suicide, when she was a child. Sasha’s memories tell a different story.
Determined to finally discover the truth of her parent’s death, she enlists the help of Marshal Branch Holloway. This, in itself, is a risky venture. Not only is he her former lover, but she has a long-held secret that she’s kept from him for 12 years. What will happen if he finds out the truth?
Despite the mounting danger surrounding them, she is resolute in seeing this through, and finding out who really killed her parents, because she knows in her heart that her parents were murdered, and the killer is still out there.
The Dark Woods is a wonderful addition to the Winchester, TN Thriller series. The pace is fast, the characters are very well developed, and the story flows with gripping suspense that will make you quickly turn the pages. For me, this is one of the ‘I want to know the ending’ but ‘I don’t want this book to end’, reads. If you love a well written thriller, with mystery, suspense, and a touch of romance, do yourself a favor and get your copy of The Dark Woods. You won’t be disappointed. Highly Recommended!
Thank you Debra Webb for the ARC of The Dark Woods by Debra Webb that I read and reviewed.
I loved this book from start to finish. Sasha and Branch were both characters that you had no choice but to fall in love with. They both had baggage and they were both so real as a reader I was cheering for them from the start and I adored how they tried to hide their feelings even though the sexual tension was still between then.
The search to find out what really happened to Sasha’s parents was well written with some great twist and turns that keeps the reader guessing what took place in that living room and why until the end. This book was a great read and an excellent introduction to Winchester for Webb’s new series that is coming out. It is a small town with what seems like a lot of hidden secrets if these last two books are any indication and I can’t wait to see what else will will come out in this Tennessee town.
I am giving The Dark Woods five out of five stars.
Debra Webb has done it again with her newest Winchester, Tennessee Thriller, The Dark Woods.
Once again we revisit the town of Winchester, Tennessee and step into the lives of the people who live there, people with secrets and passions that can not be contained.
Sasha Lenoir is driven to finally learn the truth about what happened to her parents even if it means turning to the one person she can’t forget, Marshal Branch Holloway, and risk his learning her secret.
Debra once again shows us that she is a master of romantic suspense.
From the first page, this book had me hooked. Starting with the funeral of a beloved grandmother, the tale of Sasha Lenoir is compelling and fascinating. She was raised by her grandmother Vi after both of her parents were killed one night while Sasha hid under the stairs. Sasha is determined to find out the truth about what happened that night, refusing to believe that it was a murder suicide. In her quest for the truth, she encounters her old flame, Branch, now a US Marshall who has some time between assignments to help Sasha with her investigation. Little does Branch know that Sasha has her own secrets, one she may or may not share with him. The entire book was fast-paced with a lot of action as Sasha followed a long cold trail that leads her into danger as the trail heats up and she gets closer to the truth. I was able to kind of guess what really happened and who the bad guys were, but not completely. Therein lies the talent of author Debra Webb. She spins a tale that is so complex and so mesmerizing that it draws you in, and you are so intrigued that you will want to keep reading to find out who did what and when. My favorite character in the book was Sasha, a young woman who is feisty, spirited and yet vulnerable and yearning for closure. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and know that fans of suspense will devour it!

Sasha decides to finally discover who murdered her them twenty-seven years ago.
She was raised by her grandmother Vivian Simmons (Vi) after both of her parents died one night, supposedly in a murder suicide by her father. Sasha’s memories contradict what the police believed happened that night so long ago. She told the police she heard other voices as she hid under the stairs that night which were ignored because she was so young. Her grandmother never wanted her to pursue looking into what could have happened saying let the past be past.

This book captured my attention from the beginning; it is a fast-paced and has a compelling story line that I finished it in one sitting. I enjoy reading books with strong female leads and Sasha Lenoir fits the mold perfectly! I also am glad that Debra Webb had created another mystery in the town of Winchester, Tennessee. I recived this as an ARC book from Debra. This was when Sasha Lenoir had a childhood no body would talk about. She lived with her g’ma all through high school. Left 13 year ago to go to college found out she was pregnant. She made a life for herself and her 13yr.old daughter. Secrets were kept until her G’ma had passed on. That is when secrets start to come out. I will stop because that is giving to many spoilers and I won’t do that I I can say is enjoy Debra Webb The Dark Woods book.
Debra writes this story so you don’t get twisted it keeps you keep thinking and wondering. Enjoy your reading .
The Dark Woods is the second in Debra Webb’s series about the small town of Winchester Tennessee. The character are true and down to earth and the story provides a background for The Undertaker’s Daughter series set in the same small town. This is an entertaining quick read that keeps you hooked until the last page.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
Another winner by Debra Webb….Sasha returns to her home town hiding a secret from her former love whose help she needs to solve the deaths of her parents over twenty years ago. Riveting suspense and a twisted plot lead to a stunning surprise ending.
You will love this book!!!
Debra Webb has woven another mystery from the town of Winchester Tennessee. Sasha Lenoir returns to bury her beloved grandmother who raised her. Memories while there gives her the renewed determination to discover what really happened to her parents when she was 12. Her memories contradict what the police ruled as a murder suicide her father committed that night so long ago. Her claims of hearing other voices. as she hid, that night were ignored because she was so young. Her grandmother never wanted her to pursue looking into what could have happened saying let the past be past.
Sasha is not alone in her determination that her father would never ever do this. Others agree one of them her grandmother’s best friend and she wants to talk to Shasa. When she goes to talk Sasha is forced to see the man who has, since childhood, had her heart, A Marshal, Branch Holloway, home on vacation. With his connections can helpi her find the truth. Branch also carries a flame for Sasha one he walked away from so many years ago. As Sasha searches for the truth she is afraid Branch will find out a truth she’s kept from him for many years. She knows in her heart she must tell him but how and when? Dangerous consequence warnings are threated as they as they shake the tree of lies.
Love this new series intertwining the people of Winchester Tennessee in the books Self Defense and soon The Secrets We Bury. Thank you Debra Webb for allowing me read this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I really enjoy reading about the people and community of Winchester TN.
