For the first time ever as a complete ebook series, all of Stephen King’s eight Dark Tower novels–one of the most acclaimed and popular series of all time–now a major motion film starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. Set in a world of ominous landscape and macabre menace, The Dark Tower series features one of Stephen King’s most powerful creations–The Gunslinger–a haunting figure who … haunting figure who embodies the qualities of the lone hero through the ages, from ancient myth to frontier Western legend. As Roland crosses a desert of damnation in a treacherous world that is a twisted image of our own, he moves ever closer to the Dark Tower of his dreams–and nightmares.

I felt that this was actually my least favorite in this series. Granted, it has been a long trek, like walking across the wastelands to get to the Dark Tower. I just felt like the resolution of the story was not very satisfying. It was also really drawn out too long. Patrick Danville being introduced at the last minute as a means to help the Gunslinger defeat the Red King didn’t really ring true. And killing off Eddie and Jake and then reuniting them with Susannah in New York was a way of providing a happy ending that I think this series did not lead up to. Sorry, Stephen, but I did like the the rest of the series.
As a fan of Stephen King for most of my life, this series just blew my mind.
Now just in the spirit of full disclosure, there are some who don’t appreciate the first book, claiming it doesn’t quite stand on its own. But fuck that, I think it’s great, just like the rest of them (though you could probably skip #5 “Wolves of Calla” completely and barely miss anything.)
I’ll just pretend like the movie never happened. Just like the producers of it pretended like the books never had — seriously WTF happened there?
I just finished listening to the audio book editions of these seven books for the second time. I’m more impressed with the series now than I was after my first listening. I won’t forget Roland and his gunslingers or the haunting parts of their long journey.
It was the least favorite of Stephen Kings books. Very disappointed in the ending
A typical Stephen King page turner!
Started a little slow with roland in the desert, I glad I continued to read as cloudn’t put theae down until i finished the entire series. King is a master story teller and yes sometimes he tells a few to many details and small areas drag out but it’s all part of his fantastic world and charecter building. I haven’t yet read all King has writen but I’ve finished a lot of his books and love the tiny details that connect a lot of them together in one way or another.
This is Stephen King’s Magnum opus. Start your adventure with The Stand, it’s where it all begins. And if you wasted time and money on the movie just put that experience out of your mind.
The Dark Tower series is a great journey, don’t miss it.
Starts great, terrible ending. Starts to suck in the middle.
Excellent characters and exceptionally imaginative story-telling power this opus into the legendary.
One of my ALL TIME favourite series.
One of a very large 7 book set. If can read all in row.
An epic tale and adventure. Each book brings you closer to the end of a long, twisted and scary journey . They also provide a history of each character and as you go further on in the odyssey how their strengths and weaknesses relate to the story and the battle to save the universe.
Great series!
No words. Stephen King is the King!
My very favorites from Stephen King
The Dark Tower is a series of books that must be read in order. So buying a boxed set would be ideal. These are some of King’s very best stories. Highly recommend.
Exceptional story. Holds your interesting. Very active, something always happening. Unusually interesting characters. Well written by one of my favorite authors. Recommend as an interesting action packed book, for mature readers.@00001ron
A little weird and interesting at the same time
Greastest story and by far my favorite series ever!
This is by far my favourite work from Stephen King. As the Dark Tower is the centre of the universes, so the Dark Tower series is the centre of King’s legacy. Following the tale of Roland and his ka-tet is like touching upon everything King has created across his vast catalogue.
Filled with suspense, drama and tragedy – following Roland, Eddie, Jake, Susannah and Oy as they pursue the Dark Tower was an adventure I could not abandon. It is one of the rare stories where I have felt so connected with the characters and their fates. This series definitely leaves you with a hang over.Stephen King The Dark Tower VII
