Oh wow, this is one of the best books I’ve read this year. Senga is such an awesome character, she does whatever it takes to protect those she cares about. Ruairi is a larger than life character. Loved how he can be tuff and passionate without letting those he lives down. Loved this one very much.

The story of Ruairí and Senga is full of romance and danger but what else would you expect when roaming the waters with a pirate. Battles are hard fought and more than once Senga saves Ruairí life by protecting his back against the enemy. The attraction is strong from the very beginning and increases as time passes even into their later years. The story is well written, entertaining and keeps your attention. I enjoyed the story and would highly recommend it as a great read.
Ruairí MacNeil is the Black Heart of the Sea. He’s a well-feared pirate who is known for his ruthlessness. Senga MacLeod Sorley Is working at her uncle’s tavern as a server. For some unknown reason, Ruairi is called to help and be near Senegal. After rescuing her twice in one night from would be rapists, he knows that she is for him just as she knows he’s for her.
Celeste Barclay has given us a “pirate meets his fated woman” tale for our hearts. As they share their histories, they begin to attempt to weave their future together as a couple. The readers are led towards an unknown outcome with Senegal and Ruairi. Will their past histories allow them a future or doom them to repeat their past?
This is the best Pirate love story I’ve read in a long time. Yes, there are sexual events that also include light bondage as well as various sexual acts. However, this is one of the tamer books I’ve read with these scenes that still show eroticism. Kudos again to Ms. Barclay!

After her husband and son die, Segna finds herself working in a tavern for her uncle. She makes is clear that she is not there to do anything but serve the patrons food. But one night, some men don’t take the hint and attach her when she is alone. The notorious pirate Ruairí comes to her aide. When he ends up saving her for the second time and offers to take her with him when he leaves, she decides to take a chance.
Ruairí is intrigued by Segna the first time he lays eyes on her. When he sees what a strong woman she is, it just makes the fascination that much stronger. He surprises no one more than himself when he asks Segna to join him on his ship. But as he spends time with her, he starts to imagine a life that he never thought to have. Can this pirate and his widow get a HEA that neither of them dreamed of?
I really enjoyed Segna and Ruairí’s story. We see part of it in the previous book which featured cousins of both of them. I love that Segna was such a strong woman and could fight right along Ruairí. I don’t think he would have been as attracted to her had she not been such a fierce fighter. Not only in strength but in getting what she wanted out of life. This was a great addition to the Pirates of the Isles series!

Another well written page turning book from the author, strong characters & a story that left me breathless at times. I loved both Ruairi & Senga who fell hard & fast for each other from their first meeting & the chemistry between the pair was combustible but they also opened their hearts to each other & both became fiercely protective. The road to their HEA was strewn with obstacles but it did make for a captivating read. I loved the epilogue, which totally completed the book
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Ruairi MacNeil and Senga MacLeod were a couple that met by chance. There story began
when Ruairi thought Senga was in trouble and he became her rescuer.
They both grew up in noble pasts, but circumstances lead them down a
dark road.
Their Adventure over the seas grew as their trust, compassion, and ability to heal each other was
Remarkable and endearing.
All though the story was incredibly hot, it still to me had this loving story.

I have really enjoyed this new Pirate series by Celeste. The Blond Devil of the Sea is about Rowan and Caragh. But we also met Ruairi and Senga in that book. This book follows some of the same time line as book one only this is Ruair and Senga story before meeting up with Rowan and Caragh. The Author did an amazing job keeping the stories on trace. This is a stand alone story but you will lose a lot if you don’t read them in order…
Ruairi is known as the Dark Heart and he has a fearsome reputation. He and Rowan are cousin’s and have been pirates for years. Both have a painful past, but Rowan instead of trying to forget his has used it to harden his heart and soul.
Senga has also felt sorrow, in the lost of her son and husband. Pain from her clan when they kicked her out. Both of these wounded souls meet when Senga is attacked not once but twice in the same night ! Ruairi saves her both time. As they know it it not safe for Senga to stay working in her uncle’s tavern. Ruairi ask her to leave with him and live on his pirates ship. Senga is not what Ruairi expects . He can not understand why he feels the need to protect her. Senga also see a side of the feared pirate that no one else has.
As these star crossed loves come to term with there attraction there will be lots of adventure.
This is a highly sexual book, with scenes of spanking, and much love making.
Senga and Ruairi both have a past to deal with and as two very strong people they will disagree a lot.
So there is fighting, sadness, joy and danger . If you love pirate’s and strong women, and don’t mind the sex this is a wonderful story of what true love and understanding come over come.
I hope you will give both books a chance, great escapes from what is going on in the world right now. I couldn’t put it down.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this story. It is a great adventure with strong well written characters. I was drawn into the story right from the beginning and didn’t want to put it down. There is explicit sex which at times includes spanking. If that bothers you then you may want to pass. The timeline of this book is concurrent with The Blond Devil of the Sea. Personally, I love when authors do this. Although you know the bones of the story and how some things “end” you get to see another perspective of the same time. I was very much looking forward to this book and Celeste delivers another excellent story. If you like a good adventure with romance and don’t mind the sex then take a read you won’t be disappointed.
I love pirate stories and I love Celeste Barclay’s style of writing so put the two together and you get one amazing book!
This is the story of Senga and Ruairi and ooooh, what a story it is! I loved how feisty Senga was and how she stood up to the fearsome pirate, Ruairi. As for Ruairi, he can’t help but admire her and they soon share a love so strong, you can feel the bond they have throughout the story. I loved how they spent a lot of time talking and getting to know each other and how honest they were with each other. She is a heroine after my own heart, one who can fight as well as any man!! They definitely deserve their HEA at the end:)
There are some erotic scenes but they are written in good taste and add to the trust they have in each other. All in all, this is a swoon worthy pirate story filled with adventure on the high seas.

Celeste has written another intriguing story with two strong but vulnerable characters. To have a hero who really isn’t a hero in his own eyes. While the heroine will do anything for the family and to protect the ones she loves. This book kept me engaged till the end. I highly recommend it.
