He was more than my bully, he was what living nightmares were made of… “I dare you…” It started as a childish game played between two friends, that ended in heartbreak.I knew him once. A long time ago you may have even called us friends. That was before I moved away, before my mother married his father, before my entire life fell apart. I lost everything, my friends, my popularity, my future. … friends, my popularity, my future.
This was supposed to be my fresh start… my last chance at new… but it wasn’t it was real life hell.
Vance Preston used to be a poor boy with a soft smile and kind eyes.
He used to be my friend.
Now he’s God’s gift to women (his words not mine), disgustingly handsome, and filthy rich.
He can do whatever he wants, say whatever he wants, and hurt whomever he wants.
No one can stop him, and no one dares too.
He might as well be god.
And his newest target: me.
He dares me to defy him.
He dares me to fight back.
He promises he won’t stop…
….not until he hurts me, not until he breaks me.
But I’m not afraid, because you can’t break something that’s already broken.

No one likes bullies, but who doesn’t love a good bully romance?
Ava and Vance seemed to be worlds apart. The mystery and misunderstandings between them were too great to be on the same planet. Vance really took the cake with the bullying. I did not think he could be as cruel as he was. Poor Ava could barely keep her head above water.
Great story with amazing characters! I enjoyed every minute of it. This was a page turner and worth the read!

Ava and Vance were childhood best friends until an innocent game revealed a secret that tore the two families apart. Now years later her mom is married to Vance’s father and she is going to live with them so she can go to college while her father is getting into a treatment center for alcohol. Vance hates Ava and she has no clue was other than her mom marrying his father. Vance makes it his mission to tear Ava down and try to get her to leave. There’s nothing Ava can do to change how Vance feels for her until one day when their guards are down and she tells him what she saw. He is stunned and can’t believe what she tells him. However what Ava doesn’t know is that her new step-father is not being very helpful to her being there when it comes to his talks with Vance. Will Vance wise up and see ava is the only innocent person in the house? Can Ava forgive Vance for what he has done to her?
This is a great story that once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Wow, absolutely fantastic! This book took me on an emotional roller coaster where at times I felt anger, heart break, pain, and happiness. It is a captivating read with many secrets, twists, revelations, and characters you will love and hate (sometimes) at the same time. It is well written, well developed, and I could not stop reading until the end. Definitely recommended.

If you like redeemable, badboy bullies The Dare is a book for you. Vance, thinking he has been wronged by Ava, is out for revenge. This book is the perfect mix of angst, humor and steamy sexy times. I loved their HEA!!
This book drove me absolutely crazy (in a good way!) I always say when a book pulls out the emotions in me, then it’s a good book. What makes it a great book is the intensity of those emotions. Well there were times I wanted to throw my kindle, scream and reach into the story and strangle Vance. But then I wanted hug Ava after I shook her! I highly recommend this series so start with The Bet because it’s FANTASTIC too! I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series, hopefully VERY SOON!!! (Hint! Hint!) So take The Dare and read this book!! Enjoy!!
If you’ve read the first book in this series than you know you won’t be disappointed in this newest release. Vince and Ava’s story is a good example of a fine line between love and hate. Their relationship is emotionally charged with an intense romance that comes with betrayal and revenge. Who knew all it takes is one secret that will take you on adventure full of the feels! If you enjoy a high impact bully romance than this is for you!
When they were young Ava and Vance were the best of friends, almost spending every waking moment together, then one night Ava saw something she was never meant to see…and it changed everything. She found herself moving far away, and Vance found himself leading a completely different life, one where money was plentiful, and he never had to want for anything.
Now five years have passed, they haven’t seen nor spoke to each since that life-changing night, and fate is about to reunite them. And it’s not going to be pretty…
The Dare is a heart-torturing tale that will prey on your emotions, bring tears to your eyes and test the limits of your patience. From the very first page this one had me hooked, my eyes hit the words on the pages and I couldn’t pry them away. I found it quite easy to connect with Ava, feel for her and all she was subjected to, but Vance was a different story. He was a little harder to connect to, I felt for him on some level, but at the same time, he was a real jerk to Ava, often doing unforgivable things. Eventually he found a way to redeem himself in my eyes, but it took a lot of convincing. I loved this first time read, the angst that dripped from it’s pages reeked havoc on my emotions, and the sweet blossoming romance soothed them… a perfect satisfying concoction! Definitely one of my favorite first reads this year!! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
This is the second book in this addictive series, and is Ava and Vance’s story. These two were best friends in childhood, until a family issue separates them, and now Ava is his new stepsister. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, as long as there are no triggers such as bullying. These talented authors’ have once again written an awesome story which is emotional and entertaining as well as being full of angst, revenge, resentment, betrayal and misunderstandings. I was intrigued and hooked throughout, and look forward to reading more in this series.
Blown away by this story, it was such a page turner and I couldn’t put it down. I can’t pick my favorite couples yet because there is still one more book to read but maybe even then I doubt I will even pick then. When I read these stories I feel like I’m a part of them.
So many emotions. Some of them even made my heart ache.
Ava and Vance were friends. Then something happened and they moved apart. When they meet again several years later, they should just continue the friendship were they left it…or so you would think.
Ava is happy to see Vance again. Vance is not so much. Lies comes in the way, but who is lying about what.
I loved Vance and Ava and all their heartache. Could they recover from everything?
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
One game, one secret and the night ended not only their friendship but everything as they knew it.
Distance pulled them apart, but time brought them back together again under forced circumstances.
He hates her it’s as simple as that. She ruined everything and now shes going to pay.
She cant believe her friend has changed so much. What happened to him. Hes so angry all the time..
This is a true bullying book in every sence. From the start to the end you could feel the anger, the storm clouds and feel the wrath. Delicious!
I’m loving this series! The first book “The bet” was freaking awesome, and this book follows a similar format.
The words are fresh, and tormenting, hurtful and spiteful perfect for this trope!
I was a weenie bit disappointed in that I spotted a line almost identical to my favourite all time movie book tie in, but that was soon forgotten.
Ava is commencing upon another new start. Shes wary, yet hopeful. Lost but trying to find her happiness.
Vance is out of luck, hell bent on vengeance. His heart growing darker by the day. But is there more to him..?
I’m giving this book four stars. The characters are storyline hook you from the start and the end leaves you needing the next in the series!
Fantastic!! Who knew bullying could be such fun to read about!! love love love!!
Love – hate relationship
Intense and cruel behaviour just to entice revenge for the lie spread some years ago. I have love – hate relationship with this story and it stirred a whole range of emotions in me while reading it, from pity through pain of my heart being broken to overwhelming anger and hurt. There were moments that I wanted to throw my e-reader at the wall in hope for it to hit Vance straight in the head and knock some sense into him. He was so blind with hurt, anger, so stupidly stubborn and so overtaken by getting vengeance on Ava that he didn’t stop to think about his actions and their consequences. He was also greedy for his father’s attention and affection. Both of the main protagonists wanted their families to acknowledge them to be part of their daily interest but what they get was only parents who were selfish. That really moved me and my heart broke for both of them. Despite the major twist in the plot that made me ugly cry I still think Vance was let of the hook to easily but that didn’t cause me to rate this book differently. For me this is one of the best reads of mine lately. I can’t wait for the next part that will tell Clark’s story. I have some expectations toward his character but I’m sure with these authors I will be surprised with how his story goes. I’m confident his book will be great because these ladies know how to write perfectly broken heroes with serious inclination for darkness and heroines that are beyond strong and resilient, not only physically. Great, fantastic read that I can’t recommend enough.
Oh my damn!!! Oh my damn!! Vance wins asshole of the year. He’s arrogant, abusive, filthy mouth, dirty sexy, alpha man. This is an friends to enemies to lovers romance. J.L. Beck did the thang with this book. I absolutelyfreaking loved it. It’s a web of deceit. Not to mention, hot, steam, sexy, sensually erotic, and packs an emotional punch. Kudos to J.L. Beck and Cassandra Hallman. I can’t wait for Clark’s story. It’s told in different points of view, no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a hea. I highly recommend this book. What will happen when the truth is revealed. Stay tuned to find out.
Vance and Ava met when they were very little but something happened and completely changed their relationship. Years later they became step siblings when her mother married his father and life changed for them again. This book is filled with drama, angst, revenge, misunderstandings, betrayal and twists that left me wanting to know more. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the North Woods University series.
This is a great read. I enjoyed the storyline, the characters, I could have used more hot scenes but that’s just me. I still enjoyed the book.
Another college romance with the bully always wrong because he is a man (sorry men)! The story starts off with a truth or dare game between two young friends whom were living in the same household as one of the fathers had lost his job. Unfortunately, that was the father of Vance who instead of being grateful for a house to live in decides to have an affair with his friend’s wife, who is the mother of Ava. In a truth or dare gave Ava goes to her parent’s room only to find that sex was happening, and it wasn’t both her parents. Five years passes and Ava’s parent divorce, her father loses himself into drinking while raising Ava. Now Vance’s father and Ava’s mother are getting married and she is there for the wedding and to stay there in order to go to college. Vance makes Ava’s, (his new stepsister), life a living hell as he believed that they were kicked out based on a lie she told her father. Once the truth comes out its too late for Vance, he has already broken Ava. There is a lot of action in this one as someone gets shot and it ends with maybe a story for Clark and Emerson? This was a great story, there is a lot to learn especially where families are concern (whether they are blood relative or not).

After reading The Bet I was looking forward to Vance’s book. Vance and Ava were best friends as kids. They liked to play truth or dare. After a dare gone wrong they don’t see each other again for five years. Vance blames Ava for his parent’s divorce and he wants to make her suffer. He is not pleased when he finds out his dad is marrying Ava’s mom and that Ava is moving in with them. Poor Ava thinks that they are going to pick up right where they left off in their friendship. Vance is determined to make Ava’s life miserable. Ava has no idea why Vance hates her but when secrets and lies are revealed things change. This book had me on the edge of my seat.

The Dare: A Bully Romance ( A Noth Woods University Book 2) by Cassandra Hallman and JL Beck
Wow holy hell I thought The Bet was full of bullies and messed up people but The Dare has it beat hands down. Talk about liars, manipulators, heartless mean spirited down right brutal idiots well they are everywhere!
Vance and Ava were young kids playing an innocent game of truth or dare when a dare changed their lives forever. Life has been anything but easy for Ava since that fated game of dare that spiraled her life into one heartbreaking moment after another. Five years later her only option is to go back to town she used to call home to live with her mother whom she hasn’t seen in three long years. To a home where the boy now man who used to be her bestfriend will now be her stepbrother. Only to find he wants to destroy her, break her,and ruin her by any means necessary.
Vance has held an intense grudge and hate for five years due to what his father told him concerning the night of the dare. Will he listen to the truth before it’s too late or will the the damage be done? For most of the book I wanted to slap him by the end I was wake up and open your eyes before it’s too late. It was like hate him or love him at the same time.
Their journey was emotional, intense, full of hate, drama, lies, manipulation, regret, undeniable passion, heartbreak, forgiveness and even love.
You don’t want to miss this latest book in the series.
