You’ll judge me.
Hate me and tell me I’m wrong.
Refuse to see how my darkness is what she needs.
While I don’t particularly care about your feelings in the matter, and while I pursue her despite the wedding bells that rang for another, only I can see how she is drowning beneath mediocrity.
How many times must I remind her?
It can’t matter that I am the person who ruined her life.
The man who … her life.
The man who killed her father.
The constant shadow that watches her sleep.
The lover who prefers dirty alleyways to freshly laundered sheets.
She’s mine.
Always has been.
I’m the worst thing for her, yet I’m the only salvation she knows.
He had his chance to make her happy.
He failed.
He didn’t see how she was dying inside because he couldn’t know her.
Not like I know her.
I am her stalker.
Her protector.
And the only man that can bring her back to life.

This one got me in the feels. And I’m not even sure if that is an intent of the book. There was just something about the darkness and despair and inhumanity of it all, that grabbed ahold of me and wouldn’t let go. I LOVED IT! Can’t wait to read more from this author, and will be going back to look for Aiden and Anthony’s books.
The Danger You Know is a twisted tale of obsession, darkness and passion that you will not be able to put down!!
Ari is the anti-hero you did not know you needed! Ever since the night Ari killed Adeline’s father he has been obsessed with the girl with raven hair and porcelain skin. He watches her every move; never letting her leave his sight. One night when plans go astray, and Adeline is beaten within an inch of her life Ari knows he can no longer just watch from the sidelines.
“I’ve told you from the beginning that I’m no hero. I’m the villain in your story, Adeline,”
Adeline is her kind of monster, not only on the outside but in her head as well. As she tries to cope with the loss of her father and growing up, she puts herself in impossible situations. Adeline finally thinks her life is taking a turn for the better, she meets a man, falls in love and gets married becoming the perfect wife and doing the perfect wife duties. When her husband ends up not being the man, she thought Adeline is swept away from monster to another. The only difference the monster who saves her is the monster who revels in her demons.
Hauntingly beautiful and wickedly disturbed this book will have you begging for more of this anti-hero and his little bird as you weave through their story of darkness.
Wow. This book was unbelievable! I love both of the main characters and the way the plot twists. Ari is such an amazing MMC. You can’t help but become as obsessed over him as he is over Adeline. He makes stalking absolutely delicious!
Scattered in the wind…
That is clearly where all ‘Little Bird’ and my intelligence have gone.
This debauched and sordid tale starts with a bang and leads into more massive explosions that more than rocked my world.
Triggers- where to even begin?! there are many & if you have any, at all- just assume they are in this story and you need to read something else. This story is a psyche warp in the making.
It is totally amazing. Words don’t do it justice. Stalker is taken to a whole new level. This is the first book I’ve read by Lily White but it definitely won’t be the last.
First book from this author.
Totally wanting to read her backlist now.
The Danger You Know became my new number one stalker romance. Holy hell! This was amazing. Beautifully written. Not every author can truly capture a characters emotions in present time. Lily White can.
I’ve become a new fan.
“I guess that’s the thing with enticing a devil to love. We’ll go to the depths of Hell for you without any concern for whether it’s right or wrong.”
Ari is that dominating alpha male all us twisted readers will swoon for. He’s truly breathtaking.
His “passion” AKA extreme stalkery was a turn on.
Okay so maybe I’m a bit twisted but I found it sweet? Is that the right word? He looks out for Adaline for YEARS and dived into her life wanted to really know her inside and out. And he did. In very unconventional ways.
“Keep dancing, Adeline. Tease me some more and see what happens. I’ll always take what’s mine, this body, your thoughts, every breath that fills your lungs belongs to me.”
Here’s the thing. I wanted to hate Ari for a specific reason. Something he did.
But I couldn’t. I just couldn’t. Their were quite a bit unexpected twists in this books they were not predictable at all and I LOVED that this book didn’t end as a typical -got pregnant, ended my dangerous job and got married HEA – stereotypical book.
Nope. The HEA was perfect for Ari and Adaline.
Please Lincoln get your own book! He sounds like a fucking alpha daddy 100% that I need to read about.
Okay. That’s my gibberish 1am review. Five brutal amazing stars.
Oh and speaking of brutal… that sledgehammer scene.
Perfection.
This was my first Lily White book and I’m not sure if I a fan of the writing style. It took me forever to finish this book. I kept stopping because I’d lose interest. I kept coming back because I needed to know more about Ari and Lincoln.
If falling for a stalker is bad then I’m downright despicable
The first 50% of the book seemed to crawl. We learn a lot about Adeline’s life and Ari’s obsession with her.
Ari tries to let go, figuring Adeline’s new husband Grant will take care of her. But Ari being Ari he can’t let go until he sees with his own eyes that his baby bird is safe. That’s when he learns Adeline is merely a shell of herself, having turned into a Stepford Wife.
That’s when we get to the good stuff. Ari inserts himself into Adelines life. A hot scene inside a mausoleum. Dealing with Grant. Another super HOT scene against a wall in a dark hallway. And finally Grant goes too far and Ari sweeps in and rescuers Adeline with the help of her other guardian stalker Lincoln.
Watching Ari claim Adeline makes you yearn for a man who knows you as well as Ari knows his baby bird. He can predict what she needs before she even knows what it is. She doesn’t have to ask or yearn for anything.
Maybe I’ve read too many ménage/RH books lately but I kept hoping for a 3some with Lincoln. Then he started talking about her as his little sister and all hopes were shattered. Thankfully Lily has already announced Lincoln’s book is coming in 2021. And yes, I’ll be reading it because I have to know more.
**I do not own the rights to any of these photos**
I’m giving this book 4.5 stars. I didn’t want to like Ari and by all rights, I shouldn’t have. He was a creepy stalker who killed people for a living. Yet I did. He was unapologetic in his obsession with Adeline and it was clear he’d do anything to protect her. He loved Adeline for who she was, flaws and all. The story was different and I liked that. Ari definitely wasn’t the hero (if you can call him that) I’m used to seeing and that was part of what I enjoyed. I wasn’t fond of the way he treated her like a possession or a pet at times-there’s even a reference to a song named Pet in the book, and the overuse of certain adjectives to describe Ari’s mouth and eyes started to become a little annoying. But overall, the book was well-written, different, and kept me turning the page to see what would happen next. Much like Christian Grey, if Ari had been some average Joe instead of some drop-dead gorgeous, sexy specimen of a man, would the story have worked? No. But he was, so it did. Though I may have to seek therapy for liking and being attracted to such a demented character. If you’re looking for a typical romance with a sweet guy, this won’t be your cup of tea. If you’re looking for something different and can acknowledge everyone’s love story may not be healthy or sane, but it works for them, this is a great read.
ARC provided from The Next Step PR
This is the second book by Lily White that I have read and the second book I have LOVED. I am starting to think it’s definitely the author and I need to check more of her out!
Where to begin with this one…I have another favorite stalker romance and this one either beat it or matches it. Not sure which, but I can confirm this is one of the best (or the best) stalker romances I have ever read and I am SO happy I got the opportunity to read this one. I’ll be careful to avoid spoilers in this review, which is so hard with this story, but here I go.
What I liked about it is it’s unintentionally (meaning not labelled as such) split into three parts. Part one: the beginning, the set-up, learning about Ari’s obsession and protectiveness and Adeline’s free-spirited personality. Part two: her situation. And part 3: the “fight”. I’ll use the word fight to avoid spoilers. It was a natural story though, with Part 1 spanning over years and Part 2 then over weeks. I found it really paced out, especially once in the “present” section of the book. Ari’s involvement in her life is just plain great – funny and a great plot point. I didn’t feel they rushed and considering her situation, it played out appropriately.
All in all, I thought the characters were well done. Adeline is described as free-spirited, not caring what others think, and only out there for herself. For a female MC, even in a dark romance, I thought this was refreshing. Ari was funny. He shouldn’t be for a dark MC, but I did laugh at a lot of his antics and the lengths he will go for her. There is no length he won’t go to stalk her.
This is a gritty, dark ride. If you’re looking for conventional, look elsewhere. If you want blazing hot sex, wrapped up into a “different” love story, this is the one for you. It’s fascinating and compelling, and believe me – when you start it, book your afternoon off because you won’t want to put it down. 5 stars all the way and I’ll be reading this author’s back list for sure! I feel like there is much more to say about this fantastic book, but everyone should just experience this for themselves.
This was my first read by this author and it hooked me from the start with its dark and twisted story line, plot twists, and intriguing characters.
Adeline was an interesting character in that she was fearless and a fighter, but she struggled at times in using those traits in the best way. Ari was a complex character in that he had this very dark and horrible job being a contract killer, but he would follow Adeline and help ensure her safety if she wasn’t ensuring it herself, but he also didn’t feel like he was good enough to actually have her. But he was the only person who truly accepted her for her, and nurtured all the parts that made her who she truly was….swoon!!!
Can a killer actually be swoony? If the author does it right, and in this case, she mostly certainly has. This book is full of action, drama, betrayal, suspense, some hot chemistry and definitely some love. Bravo!!! I loved every moment of this book, which I read in one sitting, and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
Lily White has set the bar as a must-buy author for me after finishing The Danger You Know. I am completely in awe of this story. Though it’s lengthy, the set up for this dark and sensual slow burn was devoured so quickly and had me begging for more.
My love for Ari is deep and never ending. Ari is a contract killer that has no remorse for his job until the one contract that forever seals his fate and ties his life to Adeline indefinitely. He is always watching, waiting, protecting. He never interferes unless there is danger. He never meets her until he has no choice. He never lets her know him until he decides he has to finally claim her as his own.
Adeline has always lived her life in an unapologetic spiral. Always doing what she wants and not giving a shit if you judge her for it. Finally settling down with a man she believes will tame her wild soul, she doesn’t realize how much of herself she’s giving up until she meets Ari. The one who wants that unrestrained wild behavior and raw energy. But what she doesn’t know is how long Ari has been in her life. How long he has watched her. How long he has wanted her.
The Danger You Know is packed with action, intrigue, mystery, raw sexual tension, and an ending that will bring you to your knees. I was sad that this ended too soon because what Ari and Adeline have is exactly the kind of connection I look for in all of my books. This was brilliant and everything I wanted!
The Danger You Know is a dark twisted and messed up book that you should most differentially read. I have only read two of Lily White books but damn have I not loved both of them. Lily has a way of dragging you in and taking a hold of you and making feel everything she writes.
The Danger You Know is about a man that walks a fine line between love and stalking. Hate and obsession. Ari is a very complicated man to read and is even harder to understand. Ari gives nothing away while reading this story.
Adeline is a child in an adult body. She was given a bad hand when she was a child and has since grown up wild. Now that she is older and thinks getting married will make her a responsible adult. But what if the marriage and everything she thinks it represents is what gets her hurt and in more danger than anything else that exists out there?
I love Ari and Adeline. Their story and love are complex, hot, twisted, and wonderful. Great story!
Once again this author took me on a very dark and twisted rollercoaster ride! I should have wanted to get off but I honestly couldn’t get enough. I am addicted to the sick and deranged Ari even though I know it’s wrong. I found it impossible to put down.
“I might be some kind of masochist because just thinking about stalkers gaves me goosebumps but here I’m after finishing this story. Lily White was a new author to me and I absolutely enjoyed what I read. Not gonna lie I was intense, dark, raw and let’s say somehow creepy. It was the first time I read a book like this though it wasn’t my fist stalker book.
Ari and Adeline, our hero and heroine. I cant even begin to praise this book I’m speechless. The Danger You Know had me crying, laughing, broken and in love. It was pure perfection a whole new way about stalkers books, well at least for me. Like I said they scare the h*ll out of me but I managed myself and immersed on Lily’s words and I’m so pleased of what I read.
I’m not gonna give you details about the plot because you must experience it on you own but Lila’s broken characters had some secrets and deep grounded problems ahead to solve the mystery of their unconventional fate.
And I cannot go without mentioning Lincoln, Ari second nanny, you’ll get why, trust me. I also loved him with all my heart and I’m so hoping he has his own story because ‘m not ready to let him go.”

/ : The Danger You Know is a full length standalone by Lily White. Told in dual point of view you don’t want to miss this dark and suspenseful stalker romance filled with unexpected twists. I have NEVER read a stalker romance quite like this one, and I am loving it!! Seriously, one of the best stalker romances I’ve read to date. I couldn’t get enough of Ari and Adeline, and let’s not forget Lincoln too! is far from your average love story, it’s a unique tale about a stalker and his obsession.

I’ve read many stalker romances but NOTHING quite like . surprised me with this one and that’s no easy feat.

For years Ari has watched from afar over the wild and free-spirited Adeline Kane. Protecting her without her knowledge. But when Ari starts to see that Adeline’s spirit is being dimmed by someone in her life… he decides it’s time to finally come out of the shadows…
But with as many secrets as Ari keeps some of them are bound to come to light…

Ari has stalked Adeline for years from the shadows. He knows everything there is to know about her, down to the minute details. Ari has stopped at nothing to protect her, even going as far as to… Uhm… remove people from her life if he felt they were a threat to her well being. He may be a stalker but he’s devoted to her and you have to admire him for that.

Ari’s the kind of character you aren’t supposed to like but you can’t help but love. I LOVED that there were points in the story where Ari literally told readers F*** YOU if he felt they would judge him for his actions or for Adeline and his relationship. Ari is surely not a hero, and he may not be a good guy… but sometimes… a girl needs a villain in her life.

() : Adeline ‘Little Bird’ Kane spiraled out of control at sixteen years old, after the death of her parents. But after years of living life on the edge, she meets a man who offers her stability and the kind of life she thinks she’s supposed to lead. Unfortunately, Adeline loses herself and her spirit in the process.

I wasn’t really sure what to think of Adeline at first… she was a bit of a wildcard but as her character evolved and grew up, I eventually really liked her. The whole sleep disorder that Adeline suffers from was a nice little twist in there and just another way that I think kind of emphasized how “aware” her self conscious really was of her “shadow”. Adeline always felt like there was something just out of her reach but she never could have guessed what she was feeling was real.
/ : Although their connection is a bit messy and to some, hard to understand, Adeline and Ari just fit. I love damaged characters and both Ari and Adeline are damaged but the two of them together bring out the best in one another. Ari was the perfect person to pull her out of the shell that she had fallen under. The steam… SMOKING HOT! Ari is freaking HOT and after that up against the wall scene… I want my very own stalker ya’ll!!

: Lincoln Major. *SIGH* Lincoln is Ari’s right-hand man and the only person he trusts to look after Adeline when he’s not around. I loved his little jokes and wisecracks towards Ari. The camaraderie that he had with not only Ari but Adeline as well was awesome and made him that much more endearing. Lincoln NEEDS his own story and I will NOT be happy until he gets it! (HINT, HINT !)
: Nope, no cliffhanger. Although I most definitely would like to have Lincoln’s story, Ari and Adeline’s story wraps up beautifully.

I am never surprised at the darkness that lily brings in her books and that is why I love her writing! We meet Ari and Adaline in this story. It’s not pretty but quite disturbing, another writing trait of Lily’s that I adore! Nothing is ever perfect in life, but what is perfect is Ari’s love, such a deep devotion that he would die for!
This has twist and thrill that will make your breath stop in moments! You’ll wanna cover your eyes but will you actually do it, No Way is too good to do that! If your into not the pretty perfect romances, you will love this!!!!
First of all, I’m new to Lily White and this is the first book I’ve read by her, and I came to this book expectations free.
“What is it about tragedy that can pull two people together?”
It is a standalone dark romance. This book is dark, but not as dark as you expect when you read the blurb. It does have some dark elements of violence, abuse, and stalking, but the way it is written makes you feel that the anti-hero is most definitely a hero. I know, it doesn’t make sense.
“I’m not the hero in our story. Never have been. And you need to remember that. I’m just a man with an obsession that’s lasted too fucking long”.
Ever since the night Ari was hired to kill Adeline’s father their lives have changed. Ari started watching Adeline living a lonely life, and she becomes his obsession.
“We are opposite in every way, and yet still so very much the same”
Let’s start with Ari. Oh Ari, Ari. You are the epitome of a cruel, twisted stalker with a caring and gentle heart. His inner monologue was hilarious and funny as shit!
“You’re pretty” she says on an exhalation of breath. Pretty? Flowers are pretty. The sky is pretty. Women are pretty. I am none of those things. “You’re drunk, and I’m not pretty”.
I like him, he knows what he’s doing and he is a man on a mission. And for the span of 7!!! years Adeline is his mission.
Adeline, I felt sorry for her most of the time. She has so many issues! This book starts with a disclaimer by Lily telling the readers about her sleeping disorder which Adeline, our heroine suffers from it as well. The whole plot revolves around the state that Adeline is in most of her life and the way she deals with it. She wasn’t my favorite only because some of her choices in life gave me the hives. And I just wanted to shake her and tell her to man the fuck up!!!
Long story short (I wish it was shorter) I finished the book with three thoughts in mind: one, up until the middle of the book it was great and interesting, but somewhere along the way I got bored and found it hard to continue, but I put my big girl pants on and kept on reading. It could have been a few pages shorter. Second, I loved Ari and his devotion and dedication to Adeline, her safety, and making sure she comes back into being the little hellion he loves.
“We shouldn’t do that” I answer. “I like doing things I shouldn’t.” yes, yes she does. She really is a little monster”.
And finally, I absolutely enjoyed the way Adeline’s art defines her and gives her the place to show the state she’s in most days. And how she sees Ari as her protecting shadow which she couldn’t do without.
I give this book 4 stars only because it could have been shorter otherwise it would have got 5.
I received an arc for my honest review.
The Danger You Know is my first read from Lily White but it most definitely won’t be my last! Seriously, SO GOOD!
Ari & Adeline kept me completely engrossed from the very first page… this story/their story is complicated, dark, spans years & will leave you breathless. From assasin… to stalker… to savior… to lover… to shadow… to villian….this book was a complicated web of emotions, obsession, secrets & lies and one of the best stalker books that I’ve ever read.

There are no words other than Pure Perfection!!!
Stalker Romances are not the normal read for me, I’ve read a couple, but I do enjoy dark reads and I love books written by Lily White so there was no way I was passing this one up. The way Lily White writes just pulls me into her world and doesn’t let me go until the very last word and sometimes I’m stuck in that world for a while after, this book did just that for me.
Ari and Adeline’s story is one that I will compare other stalker romances to because WOW, just WOW.
Ari is a hired gun, an assassin, someone who makes it hard to like them because of his gruff exterior and heartless job….but, as we find out he’s more like a prickly pear (tough and thorny on the outside but soft and sweet on the inside) which pushed him to the top five of Book Boyfriends for me!
Adeline hasn’t had an easy life, and that my friends is putting it mildly. She finds her father dead of an “apparent suicide”, and that’s the least of her problems. Adeline broke my heart, watching her spiral out of control and going downhill faster than a skier in the Olympics just makes you feel so helpless that you’re actually glad she has a crazy stalker watching over her.
Ari and Adeline have an unconventional romance but not everyone’s story is all flowers and rainbows. If you enjoy stalker romances, dark romances, or are a fan of Lily White’s books I highly recommend this book to you. For readers that have the MASTER SERIES by Lily White some of the characters from those books pop up so that was fun to see. If you haven’t read any of Lily’s books before you’ve been missing out so grab this one and see what I mean.
Happy Reading!!!
If you like dark romance, this story has it all. Ari and Adeline are hot, hot, hot. He lurks in the shadows watching and spinning her life over and over. Adeline starts out vulnerable and reckless. She grows throughout the story into the heroine dark stories need. Ari is who he is and makes no apologies for it. Together their relationship grows and twists with the ugly and beautiful twists.
It took me a while to read it, but it didn’t feel like a long story. The writing kept me interested and was well written.
5 Cranky Stars
This is the best Anti Hero Romance book I have ever read in my entire life. Adeline and Ari are perfect together, both of them sick and twisted, but fit perfectly with each other. Adeline is first seen by Ari after he completes the contract to kill her father and make it look like a suicide. Adeline was 16 at the time, Ari’s obsession grew from the first moment he laid eyes on her. He watched her, learned her secrets, protected her from others and herself without her knowing for 7 years before finally making himself known to her. She married a man that stripped away her identity and left her a shell of a person from what she was, a wild and free woman. He helps her find herself again and they fall in love, or their version of love, along the way.
I couldn’t stop reading this book, I am utterly captivated by the characters. They speak to the wild part of myself, and the love of the shadows that others fear. I hope to read more like this from Lily White!
