You’ll judge me.
Hate me and tell me I’m wrong.
Refuse to see how my darkness is what she needs.
While I don’t particularly care about your feelings in the matter, and while I pursue her despite the wedding bells that rang for another, only I can see how she is drowning beneath mediocrity.
How many times must I remind her?
It can’t matter that I am the person who ruined her life.
The man who … her life.
The man who killed her father.
The constant shadow that watches her sleep.
The lover who prefers dirty alleyways to freshly laundered sheets.
She’s mine.
Always has been.
I’m the worst thing for her, yet I’m the only salvation she knows.
He had his chance to make her happy.
He failed.
He didn’t see how she was dying inside because he couldn’t know her.
Not like I know her.
I am her stalker.
Her protector.
And the only man that can bring her back to life.

Probably the best stalker romance I have ever read!
This was an odd one to be certain but I really liked it. It is definitely dark and twisted in it’s own way but in some ways it almost is not, but that has to be taken with a huge grain of salt. Because the Hero or anti-Hero as the case may be, is definitely an assassin by trade and I know there is some sort of thought process out there or maybe it is just something I heard in the movies, that if people kill for money and not fo the thrill of killing then they aren’t psychopaths or sociopaths (I always get those confused).
Anyway, our boy Ari as well as his friend Lincoln who we see a few times in this book, both are assassins and self proclaimed bad guys. Ari even calls himself a Villain on numerous occasions. Though he kills for money, he has no conscience about it and he doesn’t care what the person has done to get a hit put out on them. He figures they probably did something bad, but he doesn’t ask and he feels no guilt. Until one night when he kills a man in his home and makes it look like suicide by gunshot to the head.
The man is supposed to be home alone, but after he leaves through the window he turns around and sees the man’s sixteen year old daughter Adeline come in and find her father like that and he sees how she is destroyed by what she sees. It is the first time he feels guilt and from that day forward he becomes her stalker.
Ari is a true stalker, meaning he watches from the shadows and finds out everything about Adeline’s life, but doesn’t make himself known to her. Ari sees that she has issues sleeping, he breaks in when she isn’t home and reads her journals and steals small things from her room, he reads the books she likes and listens to the same music as her. Ari is crazy obsessed with Adeline, he even has Lincoln watch her when he is away on jobs.
Though Ari is attracted to Adeline he only watches her and he doesn’t actually get involved in her life until much later. I don’t want to give anything away about that part because by that time Adaline is married to someone else, but let’s just say things get very complicated between them and though Ari is crazy, he also seems to know Adeline better than anyone ever has. But he also has some huge secrets like the fact that he murdered her father.
There are a lot of things going on in the book, but I loved every minute and the romance between Ari and Adeline was super steamy. Adeline suffers from several sleep disorders such as narcolepsy which includes something where she has vivid dreams and/or nightmares in the space between sleep and wakefulness that may be dreams or hallucinations, she also suffers from crying/screaming/fighting in her sleep and sleepwalking. So it was pretty interesting to learn more about some of these conditions.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh yeh Lily is back with a creepy stalker story that’ll have you looking over your shoulder with this one. This author just keeps surprising me time and time again with how evil her mind can get with each book she writes that’s probably why I love her stories they talk to my kind of darkness.
This book is no exception as she introduces Ari who’s an assassin for hire he’s just about to leave after taking care of a job when he turns and see’s Adeline walk in and falls in love or whatever a person’s stalker can feel. This book was so good you can’t help but love these 2 messed up people. I couldn’t get enough of these 2.
Stalker alert…..Stalker ALERT!!! OMG Lily White feeds all my dirty little obsessions..hahaha
“You’re watching her again, aren’t you?”
Eeepp…Another jaw dropping read by Lily White!!!
“That was when curiosity turned to obsession. And realizing that, I’d forced myself away from her to return to the shadows.”
But…ohh did he come back out or did he stay in those shadows??? Of course you are going to have to go one click on release day to find out that answer!! lol
I was soo engrossed, didn’t want to stop reading to do life stuff, like cleaning or cooking or bathing..haha I can never get enough of Lily’s dark little mind. I know I sound like a broken record on my reviews of her books, but y’all, if you love dark reads…Lily White is your girl!!! She is always a one click author for me!!!
Do you know those presents you really, really want?
The kind that you can only dream of ever getting?
Well…..i found it in my inbox!
The news that i could download my very own ARC of The Danger You Know!
It felt like my birthday ánd Christmas all wrapped up in one dark, shiny present, and i couldn’t wait to open it.
As usual, the characters are strong and f*cked up,but that’s what i love most.
And as usual, this is a story that haunts you, long after you’ve read the last page.
And,again as usual, you have to love the unique darkness that Lily wraps you in.
If that’s the kind of story you enjoy,i recommend you read this one.
And if you’re familiar with Lily’s story’s,you’ll be happy to see old friends as well…..
Adeline has lost her parents at a very young age.
Her mother of an illness, her father because he killed himself.
She is a complex girl, with a sleeping disorder.
She is a girl that has demons, lurking in the dark.
If only she knew that they are real….
Ari is the man that killed her father.
And after seeing Adeline’s devastation after finding him,he does something he never thought he’d do….
He starts to keep an eye on her.
And once he does,he can’t stop.
It gets to a point where he needs to know every little thing about her.
Where it leads, you will have to find out yourself.
I will say this,Ari is nót a good man,at all.
And he is no hero, not at all.
But sometimes you don’t need a hero…..
I ám left with one question……
Lily, will Lincoln get his own story please?
Could not put this book down! What an amazing suspenseful story. I would recommend this book 100 percent! Everything you want in a book cram packed into this one! Good job Lily!

“Darling, darling
Doesn’t have a problem lying to herself
‘Cause her liquor’s top shelf
It’s alarming, honestly, how charming she can be
Fooling everyone, telling [them] she’s having fun.”
Carmen – Lana Del Rey
What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Ari killed Adeline’s father. This man’s the worst for her. He’s let her go and she’s taking her chances on somebody else. But she’s his and he’ll bring her back to life.
I’ve come across Lily White books before, but I never got to reading them. What a missed opportunity. She’s one of the OGs of Dark Romance, I feel. NOW, THAT I’VE FINALLY READ A BOOK OF HERS, I WANT MORE. I stumbled upon this book by accident and I don’t regret it one bit. I devoured it. I loved every single second of it and it took me out of my reading draught! This was a page turner for me, drawing me in with these two irresistible leading characters with incredible chemistry. Their banter and back and forth was EPIC. I loved how the both of them evolved throughout the story. Especially Adeline’s development had me rooting for her.
Actually, the side characters were just as worthy; Lincoln was an entertaining sidekick. He was so lit. They all felt real and full as characters. A certain man whose name I shall not name because he’s an idiot was the reason behind my fury. He sucked as a person, but he disrespected my girl’s eating habits and I don’t tolerate that EVER (vegetarian/vegan). Now, to my only issue: is Adeline a vegan or a vegetarian? There’s a difference and it’s not made clear if Ari or Adeline know that difference. I get that Ari is a tough guy, but I felt saddened by some of his remarks.
There was a bunch of dark humor, self-reflection and unadulterated bad boy charm in its darkest form. These characters knew themselves very well even if the missus was lying to herself. I empathized for the leading lady and I felt charmed by the leading man although he’s really got issues… This book wasn’t JUST a dark romance; this is read like a crime mystery/thriller. The issues presented in this story were handled so smoothly. I can’t get into details because it spoils the plot, but it’s certain relationship ‘problems’ and power dynamics. I loved this story’s take on those matters. I surely despised the cause for all these issues (the perpetrator shall not be named, HE DOESN’T DESERVE IT).
“Staying up till morning
Only seventeen, but she walks the streets so mean
It’s alarming, truly, how disarming you can be.”
Carmen – Lana Del Rey
Lily White is so good that I smelled how two characters had something to them that screamed ‘THERE’S MORE TO US!’ I asked and I found out that the couple had a book prior to this. The scenes with this couple are, if I may say so, CHEEKY and HILARIOUS (leave me alone, this is fiction, says everyone around me). Towards the end, there’s one particular quote that’s just so cleverly worded; if you don’t know, you won’t get it, but if you’re familiar with White’s work, it’s glorious. I haven’t read the other book, but I still found it funny, knowing the premise of the other book (which isn’t funny in itself, but the quote was funny, the millennial in me needed to clear that up)!
I recommend this book to lovers of thoroughly dark romance with remarkable thriller aspects, tortured leading men who are way too talented at stalking and coming up with witty comebacks and strong leading ladies that pick themselves up when things get tough.
“Baby’s all dressed up, with nowhere to go
That’s the little story of the girl you know
Relying on the kindness of strangers
Tying cherry knots
Smiling, doing party favours
Put your red dress on, put your lipstick on.”
Carmen – Lana Del Rey
Wow what can I say!! There’s stalker stories and then there’s this stalker story. I’m in awe of this author who can make me like a character that I know I shouldn’t like.
Ari and Adelines story is intense, it’s a story like no other. These two are explosive together. They aren’t perfect but who is. We see all their flaws and more.
I’d love for Lincoln to have his own story. A brilliant secondary character that I shouldn’t like but did.
I spent one of my days self isolating reading this and I must say it was a good day. This book took over my thoughts completely helping me escape from the real world and I can’t thank the author enough for that. Another epic story from this author. No matter what she writes I want to read more.
An original and mind bending somewhat heart stopping story of an unlikely obsession for an otherwise unfeeling anti-hero. To say I was mesmerized by my first read by Lily White would be an understatement.
The characters were consistent in their own right. I was riveted by Ari’s persona, his obsession with Adeline and her wellbeing despite his dark side and tendencies. I liked Adeline, I felt for her as I read how she was oblivious to being obsessively watched. While she dealt with her own nightmares she was young and alone sowing some wild oats trying to escape her reality. She evolved into wanting to better herself all the while Ari watching and orchestrating events she was not aware of.
Their story held me captivated and cringing, at times making me question my moral judgements, but yet enjoying the gritty banter and uniqueness of the compelling characters and their obvious chemistry and experiences.
Lily White has out done herself once again. The Danger You Know will keep you on the edge of you seat. Ari is an assassin with an unhealthy obsession. The object of his obsession is Adeline Kane. They have a very unique bond. When these two come face to face, there’s instant chemistry. Ari has secrets, will these get in his way of getting Adeline? This book was steamy, suspenseful, intriguing, and alluring. Overall it was exciting and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were amazing. This is a must read.
Again Lily White. That’s all you need to know lol but seriously this is a dark and steamy stalker romance that keeps you hooked and missing sleep! Side note, one of the characters has a sleeping disorder so it was awesome to learn about that too
Lily White has done it again! I maybe slightly addicted to Lily White books and I’m not even sorry! She has this way of leaving me speechless wondering wtf just happened? I’ve quickly become a fan of stalker romance and White is definitely at the top of that list.
Ari and Adeline will never have a normal relationship, from the way the book starts that is crystal clear. Ari is a hitman, a bad guy. Ari kills a man in his home and makes it look like suicide. The man should have been home alone, but he wasn’t. His sixteen year old daughter was there. Ari sees how hurt Adeline is by the site. When Ari sees her face it’s the first time he feels guilt over what he’s done. Ari is obsessed with Adeline. He is a stalker in every meaning of the word. He follows her around, breaks into her house, steals her journals, reads the book she likes, and takes things. He has his friend watch her when he’s away on business. Ari stays in the shadows for a long time. All of his stalking leads him to being the person who knows Adeline the best. The connection between these two burns the pages. The connection that these two have is what I feel like drives Ari to be near her. They’re like two magnetics and she pulls him to her. I’m truly surprised Ari didn’t bend and go after her sooner.
The Danger You Know had me hooked from start to finish. Lily White just blew me away, and left me needing more. Ari and Adeline drew me in right from the start. I could not get enough of these two. Everything about this book is amazing. The plot, the characters, the writing everything.
White delivers a captivating, delicious, dark, twisted book that maybe my favorite from her yet. She has made me question if I need a stalker and can I get one like Ari. I’m thinking everyone needs a sexy as sin, broody, assassin in their life.
The Danger You Know is a must read!
Whoa, baby! The Danger You Know is possibly the best stalker romance I’ve read. I mean, Ari is THOROUGH. To use a quote from the book, “To say this is creepy as fuck is an understatement.” Haha! It’s super creepy in all the right ways! I love his dedication to Adeline. Ahh… that’s love, people! Crazy, crazy, love.
If you love dark and gritty romance and a lethal, sexy stalker, you do not want to miss this book!
Reading a Lily White book always has me gripping my chair and my butt almost hitting the floor because I never know what to expect. She’s such an amazing writer and her dark books always give me tingles because they’re so darn dark.
Ari has a sick obsession with Adeline and he just can’t control it. He’s always there hiding in the shadows stalking her every move. He doesn’t do it maliciously, he just can’t help himself. From the moment he first laid eyes on her, he knew that she was going to be his.
The intensity, the chemistry and the plot was just phenomenal. I could NOT for the life of me put this book down!
I did love the characters and I certainly understood where Ari was coming from and how crazy and wild Adeline was. They certainly were one of a kind match.
What a twisted read! White nailed yet another book. I absolutely devour her words. This one was fast paced and addicting. The characters were dark and delicious. I loved them! This story is epic. If you tend to like things on a darker scale…read this. Hell, read all of Lily’s books. You’ll fall in love.
I loved this story! Ari is so dark and dangerous and evil but yet his actions when it comes to Adeline are pure good intentions. He wants to keep her safe. Yes he’s a creepy stalker but he’s doing it for the right reasons.
Ari had my head all over the place I want to hate him and yet I loved him. I absolutely loved Lincoln too he seems a lesser evil of the two men, and I love his banter. I feel for Adeline she seems to be drawn to bad situations and from a young age her life’s been turned upside down.
I wasn’t sure where this story was going there were so many twists I didn’t see coming and I loved that I couldn’t predict what would happen.
This story is amazing and dark and you will find yourself cheering for the bad guys, well most of them anyway! Five stars!
Oh my goodness, am I ever in trouble!!! Several authors are causing me to want to be a bad, bad girl, and not put their stories down, despite needing to work, to eat, to sleep!
The Danger You Know kept me up well past my bed time, and then unable to fall asleep!
These dark romances have me feeling, well, that I’m not right in some way! But, no matter, this 5+* read is on my TBRx2+, and I will continue to indulge in this guilty pleasure.
Ari, I love you! Adeline, phew, glad you are saved????
I cannot say enough good things about this story! This is a Must Dark Romance Read!
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
OMG!!!!!
This story just blown me away. Definitely added to one of my favourite stalker/ dark romance reads for 2020. I’m just so jazzed by this story. It was dark, it was non stop hold your heart angst and the most definitely my dark boundaries were being pushed which some people might not like in stories but I say BRING on the darkness and twisted plots.
Oh …. by the way the passion and desire was off the freakin charts intense!!!!!
Ari and Lincoln are our anti heroes in this tale. They are bad boy assassins that just kill for money, no qualm or empathy shown which is why they are brilliant and what they do. But Ari has had his boundaries broken, you see one of his hits, the daughter with the translucent skin that has shone a beacon right into Ari’s heart has started him on a path of a dark obsession.
Adeline and Ari’s story is quite unique. I love the obsession and stalking methods Ari uses to watch his prey as a hunter should, in the dark shadows, unseen to his prey. Adeline is a colourful character but her self worth is what eats at her soul. I mean , she is definitely promiscuous and knows what she wants but she is missing a huge piece and that piece will get filled by an obsession like no other.
This story will push those twisted thoughts you might have about stalkers and entertain you with an obsession like no other. If you love dark, violent yet delightful characters than you definitely will love this story .
The Danger You Know is a fabulous messed up, mind-bending read about letting our love run completely free and without any restraints or limits, until it becomes an unstopable obssesion.
For lovers of the dark romance genre, and especially fans of Author Lily White, this is a great way to measure your stalking fantasy levels. Believe me, what you thought it was beyond your comfort zone, it may become your new guilty pleasure.
The plot, and storyline were mastefully crafted, and with the twists and turns, the story leaves you guessing until the very end. The characters are deep, fascinating, unfilter, and complex. Just the way your twisted mind wants them!
All in all, this is an all-consuming dark romance, raw, emotional, edgy, intense, full of suspense, sensuality, but deliciously addicting story. Ari and Adeline’s journey is a real masterpiece. that you don’t want to miss!
Woohoo! An impossible piece of perfection! I started this and couldn’t put it down as the cat and mouse game kept me flipping the pages. A memorizing dark romance with thrills, chills and an assassin with a penance for a ‘little monster’ of a girl that he created, in part. Ari is a spectacular antihero (right behind The Director’s Ethan) that is a stalker extraordinaire as he invades Adeline during sleep and wake. But with Adeline you don’t know if it’s a waking or dream moment. Her condition was so interesting and perfect for this story. The question of what was real and what was a dream was masterful as Adeline lived in the in between with a passion. I was holding my breath as Ari’s slowly evades Adeline’s world and seduces her into a madness of pleasure and pain. Oh, he is a sexy ahole and turns her inside out with his torturous games. There’s always a twist with this author but this one didn’t have a big impact on the story for me. I love Ari’s fellow assassin Lincoln and hope he gets a story. And I loved that old friends Rebecca and Aiden made an appearance! I couldn’t get enough of Ari and Adeline and their hot chemistry. This is a fabulous dark and dirty stalker romance with outstanding characters from a spectacular storyteller. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Lily White never disappoints. When she writes, I read it. The Danger You Know by Lily White was definitely a dark and twisted story, as you would expect from this author, but it was also raw, gritty and captivating. Ari is an assassin and a stalker who lives in the shadows. From the first time he saw her, she was his, even if she did not know it. He watched her for years, even while she married another man.
Ari is now ready to make Adeline his, but can she understand a man like him? I absolutely loved him. Don’t get me wrong, he was not a good man, but he was the man Adeline needed. She was lost and miserable until Ari. There are secrets and dangers that surround them and yet their connection is undeniable, though dark and intense. I absolutely devoured this story! And I have to say, I hope there is a character that gets his own book. I would be first in line to read it.
