An ingenious code hidden in the works of Leonardo da Vinci. A desperate race through the cathedrals and castles of Europe. An astonishing truth concealed for centuries… unveiled at last.
While in Paris, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is awakened by a phone call in the dead of the night. The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, his body covered in baffling … baffling symbols. As Langdon and gifted French cryptologist Sophie Neveu sort through the bizarre riddles, they are stunned to discover a trail of clues hidden in the works of Leonardo da Vinci — clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.
Even more startling, the late curator was involved in the Priory of Sion — a secret society whose members included Sir Isaac Newton, Victor Hugo, and Da Vinci — and he guarded a breathtaking historical secret. Unless Langdon and Neveu can decipher the labyrinthine puzzle — while avoiding the faceless adversary who shadows their every move — the explosive, ancient truth will be lost forever.

This is my absolute favorite type of book, intermingling historical fact, education, and fiction into a spellbinding tale! The movie which I saw after reading the book was very well done as well but could never include the complexities of the novel. Highly recommend.
This book turned me into a Dan Brown fan. I have to admit to seeing the Tom Hanks movie first, but it sent me scrambling to download the book. And I wasn’t disappointed. Such an original story, and so well-researched! I recommend it and encourage you to continue with the series once you’ve read this story.
As far as I am concerned another terrific, fun and well paced story from Dan Brown. Having read this after watching the movie (the same is true about Angels and Demons, my next read) I was surprised at how much more of a difference there was in the peripheral characters then in the movie. In the book everyone played a major role (I thought) in …

A fast moving, action packed mystery to be solved that was easy to read and held my interest. Definitely a page turner and i’m happy to recommend this book.
Amazing. Physically Amazing.Dan Brown has left in cliffhangers so well, they don’t let go of you until the book is finished.
So very much better than the movie. I found it to be a great chase!
5 stars to Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code. Most folks have seen the movie and probably not read the book. What a loss for them!
That said, I know a lot of people don’t enjoy Brown’s books, believing he is too commercialized and over-exaggerated in his style. While I can understand why someone may think that, I don’t agree. I love the complexity …
enjoyed read this book
My introduction to Dan Brown was by accident. A friend a work handed me a book and said she didn’t care for it but I might. Wow. Two days later I gave the book back and couldn’t believe she wasn’t as entranced with the story as I was. It was new, hot, fresh, and a little scandalous. I later found many, many of my fellow employees secretly reading …
