Sometimes a change of address can change your whole life.Declan Ward has been called a lot of things in his life. Drug baby, delinquent and dirty little gay boy just to name a few. As a child in foster care, he heard it all and as an adult he knows better than to worry about what other people think of him. But when he gets into a war of words with his neighbor, he earns a new nickname and this … nickname and this time, it’s one he likes, one he decides he should definitely live up to.
After all, the new guy never actually said what it was the D stands for in his letters, but Declan has a few ideas and would be more than happy to show him.
Brett Coburn is a mature, respectable adult. He doesn’t get into arguments and he doesn’t name call like a kid on the playground. It doesn’t matter that the guy in 403B is the best-looking man Brett has ever laid eyes on. He’s a dickhead and Brett has the letters to prove it. That’s why nobody is more surprised than Brett when their thinly veiled threatening letters take a turn for the fun and flirtatious.
Is it possible they have more in common than they realized? Can they overcome the rough start to their friendship and turn it into something more? Or if they let their relationship become about more than just the “D” are they both bound to end up broken hearted?

This story of Brett and Declan was romantic. We have a vet aka Brett move in across from Declan. This all started with a note on 403-A door. Declan put a note up about the constant barking of the dog. Brett sends a note back, it is titled as the book. They two enemies so to speak, are passing notes back n forth. They each rub each other the wrong way. Until Star intervenes as the voice of reason. Just as things are starting to develop and feelings grow, a wrench is tossed in. The wrench is a dog name Sparta. You will have to read why! I don’t want to give the book away.
My favorite part of the story was the love notes to each other. They hung up notes on each others door. Be prepared to have tissues. I wasn’t expecting such raw emotions from these too.
What an absolutely delightful story! I’m a lover of MM books and this one surely proves why! Declan is a young artist who hasn’t had exactly the best life. Always having been in foster care and being picked on just because he’s gay. He just wants to paint and be happy with his life, but feels something or someone is missing. Then one day, he meets Brett and all bets are off. He is instantly attracted to him, but there is one big problem, his dog. Declan is not a fan. But Brett, being a veterinarian, wants to change that. These two start off their friendship in a unique way and I loved how it was done. No, I will not tell you, you will just need to read this book to find out.
I loved the interactions between these two. They both just meshed perfectly together. You could tell while reading that they belonged together, but could these two work out their little issue? Let’s not even get started how sizzling their chemistry is. These two are so hot, the pages burned my fingers as I turned them! My heart melted and I fell in love with Declan and Brett. If you are a lover of MM books, then this one is most definitely for you!!!
