Atticus Swift is an catcher for Memphis Maverick’s and has always had women falling at his feet. So when he sees Charlotte Bay and she proceeds to snub him and concentrate on her daughter he is definitely intrigued. Charlotte doesn’t have time for a player like Atticus but he isn’t going to give up on her yet. I loved this book and once I got into the story I couldn’t stop reading. Atticus is more than a bad boy of baseball, he has a heart and I loved getting to know more of his story. Then there is Charlotte who is more than she seems. I loved how this story turned out. I can’t wait for Brick’s story next!!!
I loved this novella by Leslie Pike. Nothing better than a sexy southern man who gets ran over by love.
Atticus Swift a sexy southern playboy who doesn’t know what hits him when he meets single mom Charlotte and her daughter Malory. Atticus is the catcher for the Memphis Maverick and he can have his pick of women but after meeting Charlotte, the only woman that gets him going is her. He never thought he would fall for one woman, never the less a single mom, but even Malory steals a bit of his heart.
I absolutely adored the Swift family and can’t wait for the rest of the books in this series.
Seriously enjoyed this story!!
Atticus is your typical cocky baseball player but with a huge heart and his eyes set on Charlotte. The insta chemistry between Atticus and Charlotte gave me all the feels. Charlotte is incredibly hesitant to give the player a chance and fall for a few reasons, but the biggest being her daughter whom she’s incredibly protective of. The way Atticus takes to, and cares for her daughter Mallory was so beautiful to watch. I really enjoyed how persistent and surprisingly romantic Atticus was and never strayed from trying to be more than friends with Charlotte, they talked constantly while getting to know each other before finally falling, but when they did it was amazing!
The secondary characters (Atticuss family) are absolutely amazing, and were so much fun to read about! I loved everything about them and I’m really excited start Bricks story next.
Definitely recommend this story!
What a great read from Leslie Pike. This single-Mom/sports romance is about Charlotte and Atticus, who have an immediate connection when they first meet. We get to dive into their lives as they navigate how to date while playing baseball, for Atticus, and raising a teenage daughter, for Charlotte. This was a sweet and very enjoyable read and I can’t wait for the other Swift siblings to get their book.
Charlotte and Atticus… swoon!! I love this couple, especially single mom Charlotte trying to raise her daughter on her own. It’s a HEA that really draws you in. You get hooked on this couple really fast. I highly recommend it!
Atticus and Charlotte… what a couple! This is definitely one of Leslie’s best books. I loved the story and I loved the characters. When you get a cocky baseball player who meets the one woman who doesn’t fall hopelessly at his feet in their first meeting, you throw in a shy daughter that helps with their connection, and a family that is always there to bring in the love and laughs, you can’t expect anything less than a beautiful love story. That is exactly what we get in Leslie’s latest book.
This is the first book in a series about the Swift siblings. I can’t wait to see what she gives us in her next installments. Make sure you pick this one up to start!
Equal parts sweet and sexy. This short story features a pro baseball player Atticus who has lived the fast life. Until he meets single mother Charlotte and her teen daughter Mallory.
Their chemistry is amazing and the southern charm and sweetness is heartwarming.
His whole family is so lovable! I want to be a part of the Swift family!!
They face minor bumps along the way of their romance.
A real southern charmer!!
This has to be my favorite book of yours so far Leslie.
It left me in tears. But don’t worry people they were good tears. Charlotte & Mallory are the sweetest mother and daughter. Then in walks in Atticus. (I feel like Taylor Swift’s song should be playing, I knew you were trouble when you walked in) lol! Yes he’s a player in and off the field. That is until he lays eyes on Charlotte. And she’s not impressed in him, which only knocks her up and few notches in everyone’s eyes. Y’all are going to love this one!
I adored Atticus and Charlotte. Such a sweet romance that blossomed between them. Definitely looking forward to reading more in this series and learning more about the Swift siblings.
I think this has to be one of my favorite books by Leslie so far! Atticus is so swoon-worthy…I mean who doesn’t love a hot baseball catcher?!? I know I do cause they have nice butts!!
There is lots of chemistry between Atticus and Charlotte from the get-go by after what Charlotte has been thru, you can’t blame her for resisting him. That charm wins her in the end though! She’d be a fool not to especially with the way he is with her daughter Mallory!
You’ll fall in love with all of these characters including Atticus’ family!
I took my sweet time reading this. I didn’t want the story to end. Atticus changes his ways for a woman. I love how he is with Mallory and how he pursues Charlotte. Another great read from Leslie.
This was my first Leslie Pike read and I’m already in love.
This was a beautifully crafted story filled with lovable characters, quick wit, love and steam.
Atticus…. I am in love. He is just perfect in every way. For Charlotte, of course. I mean, it would be weird if I was having feelings for a fictional character- right? Ok… I admit it. I’m weird.
Charlotte…. such a stunning character. She voices my thoughts (as a mother of a girl), my worries and hesitancies. Massive thumbs up from me for her.
Mallory…. so relatable. Having been a target of bullying as a teenager I felt for her. Hard.
I loved the Swift family just as much. Quirky, fun and loving, they were all fabulous.
I’m off to get the next book right now, that’s how much I enjoyed this story!
Leslie Pike
Absolutely loved this story! Charlotte and Atticus are perfect and Mallory is a gem. I can’t wait to read more in this series!
The Curve by Leslie Pike was such a heartwarming delightful romance!
Formerly known womanizer Atticus was such a romantic at heart it made me melt a few times. He was struck by lightning the minute he laid eyes on Charlotte and knew his life was about to change for good.
I loved Charlotte’s character. She raised her daughter as a single mother and did a stellar job without any supportive family in the background. She was an unbiased, intelligent woman, who also was simply a very nice person.
Charlotte and Atticus made a great couple. They clicked both in and out of the bedroom. They had chemistry in shades but they also were genuinely interested to learn what they both were made of.
I loved the Swifts they were such caring people and a loving family. I loved how easily they embraced Charlotte and Mallory (great name by the way). I loved the Firefly Ball. The things I would give up on just to experience it once for real!
I also loved the principal’s and students’ attitude and actions to neutralize bullies. I think it was a strong message everyone needs to receive.
With Leslie Pike’s great writing this book was an entertaining , feel-good read. I will definitely continue with the series.
It’s been a long time since I have just let myself sink into a book that is all warm, fuzzy and romantic. Most of the ones I’ve read lately are bad boys. But this one really turned me back around to the good guys, where the romance came easily and the characters just melted together and gave you an all around ,good story. The entire time I was reading this, I was either chuckling( or full out belly laughing) at the hilarious monologues and witty banter between Atticus and Charlotte, or I was awestruck at the pure fairytale romance of it all. Even the super sweet and heartfelt family connections swept me off my feet. It showcased the power of love and family coming together as a unit to stand together in the face of adversity, and the power of love. Such a beautiful, happy read!
Atticus pretty much has the world in the palm of his hand. As the catcher for the Mavericks, he puts his whole being into his job. As for everything else, well, he doesn’t have to work quite that hard for some things. In his family, their blood has little baseballs running through it, that’s how deeply it’s a part of their life. But when an injury knocks him down a peg or two, showing him how fragile things can be, he’s at a signing and realizes life really can change in an instant, as evidenced by the woman he spots that wants nothing to do with him. She’s too busy paying attention to a teenage girl.
Charlotte is responsibility personified. She doesn’t shirk her duties, loving those she helps. While she may wish for a family of her own, no one has gotten close enough to give her that. Besides, as a single mother, she’s a package deal and not many are willing to take on a ready made family. Especially one with as many scars, emotionally and physically, as she and her daughter, Mallory, carry. But just maybe, she may have found the one that overlooks all of that.
Charlotte is, understandably, wary of Atticus, and unimpressed with certain aspects of his life, but he doesn’t let that deter him. He pulls out all the stops in order to show both her and Mallory he can be trusted, that he sees them for who they are and what they’ve been through, and they amaze him.
Atticus and Charlotte may come from different worlds, but when they collide, the chemistry, the connection, is undeniable. Both know something is there, yet only one of them is willing to take the risk…at first. Atticus slowly begins to work his way into not only her heart, but also Mallory’s, proving he’s all in. However, the past can haunt you, and for Charlotte and Mallory, it may end up touching the present, which could impact the future they’re beginning to envision with Atticus.
What happens when the barrier around your heart opens enough to let the right person in? Can Atticus break through Charlotte’s defenses? Can Charlotte trust his feelings? What happened to Charlotte and Mallory to make them feel so broken? Can Atticus heal their hearts? What happens after he recovers from his injury? Is a HEA possible?
One-click now and follow along as two people are brought together by fate but must decide if she knows what she’s doing. I liked the relationship between Charlotte and Mallory. It was an obviously strong one and you knew Charlotte would do anything for her daughter. As for Atticus, you could see the change in him as he realized while baseball may be important, other things were as well and letting those into his life only makes it an even better one. – By Elizabeth
Charlotte and Atticus are navigating life’s curveballs to find that when it’s just right you’ll knock it right out of the park. Charlotte is a mother first and everything else falls a distance second. Mallory has been her whole world since the stick turned pink and she’s made it appoint to let her know that it’s them against the world. It’s not easy raising a budding teen alone, if puberty wasn’t hard enough, Mallory having suffered burns in an accident has to deal with just rotten kids and their judgments. Never in her wildest daydreams did Charlotte ever think that she would catch the eye of handsome charming pro-baseball player. Those type of things happen in the movies, not to single Moms. Atticus has been known for years as baseballs player in both senses of the word. He didn’t think he was ready for grounded life until he met Charlotte and knew that she was the just girl he never knew he was waiting for. Life throws you a lot of pitches but sometimes you just have to be patient and wait for perfect one to come right down the plate for the walk off HEA!
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
The Curve by Leslie Pike was such a quick and adorable read to get lost in. I absolutely loved getting lost in the story of Atticus Swift and Charlotte Bay.
Charlotte has devoted her entire life to her daughter, Mallory, and ensuring she gives her the best life possible. As a single mother, life has not been easy. But putting her life on hold for her daughter has meant loneliness for her. Charlotte was strong and honest, but also afraid to put herself out there.
I cannot express how much I loved Atticus Swift. He was everything. As the catcher of the Memphis Mavericks, he is arrogant, confident and a player. But one look at Charlotte and everything changed for him, no questions asked, and I really liked that. No second guessing or playing while things work out with Charlotte.
Charlotte and Atticus were so cute together. Their story was not an easy one, but they truly cared about each other and worked for what they wanted. I cannot wait to read more of the Swift family! This is a great, quick read to get lost in and one readers will enjoy! I loved it and highly recommend reading it.
4.5 stars! Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
I really enjoyed this one. I was drawn to this book because the hero is catcher. That’s like catnip to me. I liked Atticus and Charlotte. They had great chemistry. I liked how you can see the growth in Atticus has a person because he wants to be a better man for Charlotte and her daughter. It’s matures a lot. I loved the scenes with Atticus’s family. They are hilarious. This is a mostly light read, but it does address the tough issue of bullying. I could relate to Mallory because I was bullied when I was younger. I think Leslie Pike kicked off this series off with a bang. I’m looking forward to more from this series.
Solid 3.5 book. Good story. Some issues with continuity and errors in spelling/grammar. Also the character of Brick’s niece Paisley is in the story but we have no idea how she is related to anyone. (She subsequently disappears in the other two books in the series, sadly). The Swifts’s are a great family and there was plenty of romance between Charlotte and Atticus. I thought the issue of bullying and Charlotte’s daughter’s disfigurement would play a larger role but it merely set the stage for Atticus relationship with her to grow.
