Join our plucky Victorian Egyptologist , together with her devastatingly handsome and brilliant husband Radcliffe, in another exciting escapade
When Lady Baskerville’s husband Sir Henry dies after discovering what may have been an undisturbed royal tomb in Luxor, she appeals to eminent archaeologist Radcliffe Emerson and his wife Amelia to take over the excavation. Amid rumours of a curse … rumours of a curse haunting all those involved with the dig, the intrepid couple proceeds to Egypt, where they begin to suspect that Sir Henry did not die a natural death, and they are confident that the accidents that plague the dig are caused by a sinister human element, not a pharoah’s curse

Another great tale with lots of adventure and humor! Peabody is awesome!
Egyptian archaeological dig sites, the digger’s guide to a well stocked utility belt—it is the equivalent To my purse when I had kiddos at home— , Amelia’s strong belief in her own rightness in the face of those who naysay her—and her willingness to admit defeat when she is wrong, are just some of the reasons I enjoy this series so much!
This book is about a woman who is married to an archeologist who goes on digs in Egypt. She has a son who is called Ramses who causes her all sorts of trouble because he likes to explore on his own. It takes place around 1920.
This is the second book in the Amelia Peabody series, written in the early 1980s and taking place in the late 1880s. Our Amelia was a liberated woman decades before such a term was in common use; she was a brilliant Egyptologist second only to her cranky and loveable husband, and her humor is eternal:
“I do not recall precisely what he said next. …
Amelia’s little lists and her utility belt keep her organized and provide us a glimpse into the psyche of this modern woman. She’s a jewel and Peters is a master.
I love anything written by Elizabeth Peters, Barbara Michaels and Barbara Mertz. Always a good read
I love Ancient Egypt and the Archeology of that period. I devour books written in or about that topic. I’ve even written my own stories!

Elizabeth Peters’ Egypt series are all great fun! Learn about archaeology and follow one of the early feminists untangle mysteries.

When Amelia’s husband is invited by the effervescent Lady Baskerville to finish an excavation that her late husband was unable to, Amelia goes with him to Egypt. She’s certain Lord Baskerville was murdered, so while she helps Emerson with the work, she also formulates theories about the various people around her. Before Amelia can point …
All of the Amelia Peabody series are terrific (except the last one which Barbara Mertz didn’t live to complete). Enjoy!
4 stars – It was really good
It has been five years since Amelia and Emerson have excavated in Egypt because of their toddler Ramses. When an old friend of Emerson’s asks him to continue the excavations of her late husband, Sir Henry. Together Emerson and Amelia uncover a new tomb and figure out the mystery of the pharaoh’s curse.
This was …
