If one door closes and another one opens,
your house is probably haunted.

As a Part-time PI and fulltime grim reaper, Charley Davidson has asked a lot of questions throughout her life: Why can I see dead people? Who is the hot supernatural entity following me? How do I get gum out of my sister’s hair before she wakes up? But, “How do I trap not one malevolent god, but three?” was … god, but three?” was never among them. Until now. And since those gods are on earth to kill her daughter, she has little choice but to track them down, trap them, and cast them from this dimension.
There’s just one problem. One of the three stole her heart a very long time ago. Can the Razer, a god of absolute death and destruction, change his omniscient spots, or will his allegiances lie with his brothers?
Those are just a few of the questions Charley must answer, and quick. Add to that a homeless girl running for her life, an innocent man who’s been charged with murdering the daughter of a degenerate gambler, and a pendant made from god glass that has the entire supernatural world in an uproar, and Charley has her hands full. If she can manage to take care of the whole world-destroying-gods thing, we’re saved. If not, well…

Currently reading Darynda Jones “The Curse of Tenth Grave” and loving it! Just like all her books in this series…funny, keeps me guessing, exciting, and great characters!
You have to read these books in order! The tenth installment of this series doesn’t disappoint. However, at he beginning of this series, things were a tad more lighthearted. These last two books have both had moments that made me feel the feelings. Anyway, love this series.
I cannot get enough of this series. Charley Davidson is an awesome female character. This series has amazing side characters as well. I need to know what happens next. I will be continuing this series!
The Curse of the Tenth Grave by Darynda Jones is packed with action, romance, and all our favorite characters. My favorite installment as most– if not all– our questions are answered. I love this series as much for the humor as for the fast paced action.
Of the ten books I’ve read in the Charley Davidson series, this one made me the most uncomfortable — a little kinky and the supernatural storyline keeps getting a little weirder — but it also kept the characters moving forward and growing in their relationships and personal lives.
Honestly, the things I appreciate most about this series are the humor and the character growth/development. There are so many series out there where the characters never change; they just do the same things over and over again so they can have 20+ books in the series. In this series, however, Charley and Reyes keep changing. I think that’s why I’m able to skim past the steamy parts — I not only enjoy seeing how they overcome their obstacles and solve cases, I love watching them grow.
If you’ve enjoyed the first nine books, I’m confident you’ll like this one.
R-rated for sex and swearing.
Still going strong in this series. I don’t know, I’m hoping Reyes and Charley finally opening up to each other will make things better in the NEXT book. That’s really one of the only things I seriously dislike about this series. Where’s love without some trust? I mean, if he just TOLD her why maybe she’d think a little more before getting involved in stuff if she knew people were already handling it!
Love this entire series
Charley is fun and quirky and a bit crazy. Still loving this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
Ok, so Charley and her motley crue of misfits are back home and still reeling from the after effects of New York. This whole book seemed like a quick stepping stone to something much bigger. Can’t wait to read the next one.
Reading again, and loving again
Love this Book! Love this Series! Love this Author!
I would give this book 10 stars, if I could… I fall more in love with these characters with every new installment… & I think okay this is my new favorite book. There is no topping this & then I read the next & it’s nope, this is the one! This book has all the feels… I laugh, cry, scream, laugh, fall in love & laugh some more… so much laughing! Charley Davidson is the sarcastic, hilarious, down to earth woman we all can relate to, the woman you’d want as a best friend… & Cookie too! This book delivers exactly what I expect from the series… new obstacles, new revelations as Charley learns more about who she is, what she can do, who Reyes is & her daughter’s destiny. And so much you didn’t expect. I honestly can NOT say enough about how much I love this this character, this this book… this author! Do yourself a favor, buy the book…. read the series… you won’t regret it!
3.5 stars
I like that Charley is finally figuring out what she can do as a god.
I didn’t like that we keep getting the same “not good enough” argument. How many times are we going to get this scene. Also its kinda annoying that both of them keep secrets from each other and then act butthurt that there are secrets.
Amnesia is over and Charley knows a lot more than she did before. I keep thinking don’t make Reyes evil, my heart won’t be able to stand it.
I took a break from this series now I’m reading 9, 10 and 11 one after the other and refreshing my excitement for this series.
There’s plenty of hilarious moments, action and love in this book. I highly recommend you start from book 1 and get hooked too.
Book ten in the wildly successful Charley Davidson series is ripe with the tension that’s been ramping up since the beginning. Charley is trying to track, trap, and cast out the the three malevolent gods on earth to kill Beep. The Razer, a god of absolute death and destruction, stole her heart long ago. Can he change or will his allegiance go with his brothers? If that wasn’t enough, Charley also has several cases where it seems she is the only one who can help, the last chance.
This series has been one of my absolute favorites. I had been meaning to read it for a few years but the time never presented itself. Now that I have time, and all of the books in the series are written, except for the very last book, I am reading these one after another. I can’t believe I waited so long! The downside is once book thirteen is released in a few days I won’t know what to do with my spare time. Series like this are true gems and only show up once in a great while.
I received a complementary ebook from NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. All opinions are my own. Review posted on NetGalley, Amazon, Goodreads and BookBub.
Holy Hades!!! Every single one of these books ends in spectacular fashion and I think, it can’t get any more explosive. And I am wrong every single time. This one absolutely blew my mind away!
Throughout the whole book we have Charley struggling to figure out what’s gone wrong between her and Reyes. Why he’s locking her out. She spreads her humor, loves her friends and family, is sarcastic and smart and solves cases no one else can. But when things start getting wrapped up in a nice pretty bow, everything we thought we knew is blown to smithereens. There are so many astounding revelations I can’t even wrap my mind around it. Or the fact that this author had the forethought to plan this series out to such vivid and precise detail.
And let me also say here for all the times I might not have mentioned it in previous reviews, these books always have at least one scene, one moment where I am fighting back the lump in my throat. This author, in an instant, is able to move me from smiles and intrigue into an emotional mess, sometimes beautiful sometimes devastating but always deeply moving.
I’m already grieving the loss of this series as there are three more and yet I’m craving what further astronomical surprises I will find as Charley and Reyes’ story comes to a close.
Could not get enough of this out of this world thrilling fight for the fate of all man kind (not to mention Beep) … This is a highly entertaining roller-coaster of emotional ups and downs that will keep you guessing what will happen around the next corner till the very end and leave you breathless for more… can not wait for what might happen next.
“He knew what he did to me, decadent creature that he was. He totally should have been a master chef. Or a male stripper. Or an exotic dessert. Reyes a la mode. I’d eat every bite of him and lick the plate clean.”
Reyes…oh son of Satan how quickly I’d sell my soul (if I had one)…sigh…
The world of Charley Davidson is one that I would absolutely jump right in! This is not a series to start out of order, and they do have MAJOR cliffhangers!!! In fact when I realized I was at the end of this book, I started to cry because now the year long wait begins!!
If you enjoy your urban fantasy stories with a kick (and smart) ass heroine with an awesome sidekick of characters and a melt your panties hero, stop what you are doing and start this series! You will be hooked!
Loved it
This was such a great read. Charley is still solving cases and the distance between Charley and Reyes is growing by the day. They are also keeping secrets from each other, but how long can the secrets they have stay hidden. Michael pays Charley more than one visit and warns her of the danger that can happen if she tries to stop what is suppose to happen to someone she loves. This story was full of suspense, mystery, surprises, steamy scenes and characters you will love and make you laugh. I’m really starting to enjoy Osh more and more. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
4.25 stars—THE CURSE OF TENTH GRAVE is the tenth installment in Darynda Jones’s contemporary, adult CHARLEY DAVIDSON urban fantasy series focusing on part time PI/ full time Grim Reaper Charley Davidson.
Told from first person point of view (Charley) THE CURSE OF TENTH GRAVE follows PI Charley Davidson as she investigates not one but two cases: a missing woman presumed murdered by her boyfriend, and the case of a young runaway who believes she, and a number of other children, have been cursed at the youth home in which they are staying.
Charley is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, PI, Grim Reaper and a god. Our heroine is a woman whose life is made up of supernatural entities, demons, restless ghosts, murder, and a friendship with her assistant that beats all other friendships. Charley is a wife and mother whose infant daughter, said to be the savior of the world, has been hidden in the hopes of keeping the three gods of Uzan at bay. Charley is also a god, whose powers have yet to be completely established, but a god who could very well be living with her immortal enemy. Some backstory and history is revealed about Charley and Reyes’s relationship throughout time.
THE CURSE OF TENTH GRAVE has a large ensemble cast of passionate and intense characters including many, if not most, of the significant entities we have met throughout the series. Rocket’s purpose becomes a little more clearer; Strawberry Shortcake reveals some cryptic information; Charley’s dad reveals many secrets he uncovered in H*ll when he passed through; the army guarding Reyes and Charley’s daughter is available with a flick of the wrist; and Ubie’s future looks grim. I am still hoping Darynda has plans to write a series about Donovan and the gang.
As per Darynda’s style of writing the story line is packed with humor, snark, sarcasm, funny one liners and plenty of innuendo. Each chapter begins with a meme, t-shirt slogan or bumper sticker line. Reyes and Charley’s relationship is struggling in the face of what the future might hold; there are secrets between the couple that fester and burn. The $ex scenes contain a little more graphic text and sexual language than in previous installments but like most UF story lines, the romance is secondary to the story although it is Reyes and Charley’s relationship that may be triggering the ultimate war between Heaven and H*ll. The slow build to the final show down is gradually unfolding.
THE CURSE OF TENTH GRAVE is a revealing story line; a provocative look at two people destined to destroy one another; an addicting series where the next installment cannot come fast enough. The premise is dramatic; the characters are dynamic; the romance is sexy and heartbreaking. Darynda Jones writes an amazing series about a kick-ass heroine who struggles with every day life and the supernatural.
