I liked this book very much. Arthur Pepper sets out to learn more about a charm bracelet owned by his deceased wife. In the process he learns a great deal more.
This was a great find. A sweet kind widower isolates himself for far too long after his wife’s death. This is the odd story of how he rejoins the human race.
He’s driven to explore the hidden life of his wife over the years before they met. She was extraordinary and he couldn’t understand how she settled for him. Learning why she did is the beauty of his discovery. Simple and touching, the author wrote about growth and love. Wonderful job….
This was an absolutely lovely book! I adore Arthur Pepper and all the other characters in the story. I listened to the audio book and I felt I knew the characters so well from the voices used for the characters. The narration by James Langton was excellent! This is only my 4th audio book. I recently have tried them and found that I like this new way to “read” a book.
The story was so interesting. A love story – after the fact – after the spouse’s death, a mystery, a new romance in the bloom, a reconciliation of a parent with his children and a older man mentoring a younger person. One of my favorite themes was also in this book. That your family is not always just your blood relations. Often times, it is the people that you love and that love you back that create your family.
This story was such a joy to experience. I will be reading the other books by Phaedra Patrick very soon!
