I enjoyed this book, interesting plot. I thought parts were a little too pat, but it all worked. Nice, easy beach read.
I love Arthur Pepper!
Pleasant read that has some thought provoking issues about relationships old and new.
The story is about an older man, with grown kids living on their own, after his wife dies unexpectedly. He discovers her Charm Bracelet and goes on a search to discover the story behind each charm.
The plot of this book has a good message. My curiosity kept me reading, though I could have done with less details and more storytelling. So far, I have only read a couple British domestic fiction books and they do not seem to be my cup of tea.
Arthur Pepper is an interesting character. The book was entertaining in both a sad and happy way. I njoyed the book.
thoroughly enjoyable from first page. Arthur is
a gentle ole soul whose journey to find out if his
dead wife’s life was a happy one with him. What he
finds if exactly just that and along with way his son
and daughter realize how special he is….
A great light fluffy read, maybe a beach chair book!
“Charming” story – sweet and touching.
Really a enjoyable and easy read! Love the characters and the reality life check!
Entertaining
Charming and delightful story of a man who loses his wife and finds a charm bracelet of hers he has never seen. Each charm leads him on a journey and reveals secrets his wife kept from him. As he learns more about her, he learns about himself and changes how he relates to people and the world around him.
an intriguing and very interesting plot. charming story.
I liked it. I thought it was charming, I like the interaction of all of the characters, their evolution.
I thought it was a bit too similar to A Man Called Ove for me to LOVE this. But, it is entirely lovable.
Fun journey as widower redefines his life.
Too british
Arthur changes his habits when he finds he dead wife’s charm bracelet and investigates where she got the charms and the events and the people that were part of her life before they married. It is a mystery in that he knew nothing of the life she had lived before meeting him, and he experiences the same adventures except in a different time of his life. It is a touching story as he reunites with his estranged adult children and is able to encourage and help others along the way.
Arthur Pepper is a very nice man and the type of neighbor we all would like to have and his adventures are well told. You feel like you are living them with him.
It was great for the first 2/3 of the book, then kind of fell apart. I was really expecting to understand much more about the wife and her choices.
This was a warm, delightful book (but not predictable mush). Not what I thought it would be–it was better than that. I will look for this author again.
A very enjoyable story of a reclusive widower trying to manage his life.
Loved it! Touching and humorous throughout. A happy ending which is unusual in books that are as literary as this one. Can’t wait to read more by this author!
