The first book in the beloved Regency romance series, The Treasures of Surrey.“Regency romantic suspense at its page-turning best.” —RT Book Reviews, 4½ stars, TOP PICK!“It is not just a ruby, as you say. It is large as a quail’s egg, still untouched and unpolished. And it is rumored to either bless or curse whoever possesses it.”Camille Iverness can take care of herself. She’s done so since the … Iverness can take care of herself. She’s done so since the day her mother abandoned the family and left Camille to run their shabby curiosity shop. But when a violent betrayal leaves her injured with no place to hide, Camille must allow a mysterious stranger to come to her aid.
Jonathan Gilchrist never wanted to inherit Kettering Hall. As a second son, he was content to work as the village apothecary. But the gem has disappeared. And all trails lead to Iverness Curiosity Shop—and the beautiful shop girl who may be the answer to his many questions.
Caught at the intersection of blessings and curses, greed and deceit, these two determined souls must unite to protect what they hold dear. Fun regency romance for an afternoon read.
Good clean read. A real page turner, couldn’t put it down. Great story, great writer.
An interesting plot, just the right amount of mystery for one who does not need extremes. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
When I see this book cover on my kindle, I still smile. That alone is worth a positive review. Great characters, uplifting story, sweet romance, a bit of mystery=a book worth your time.
This book was not completely predictably–something rare in regency romances. Though some aspects of the story were completely perdictable, the plot took some unexpected twists without the decay of character development. I enjoyed the main characters and disliked the “bad guys.” It was easy to feel sorrow for Camille, even up to the end, because of her “roots” which stayed true to character right up to the very end of the book. When this is achieved so completely in a novel, it is a sign of a solid establishment of characters, plot and writing.
Good characters especially the heroine whose faith and strength were inspiring. A couple of plot twists kept things interesting.
Very well written. Entertaining and some fun twists in the mystery.
Great intrigue
A good story, light entertaining read.
Great read!!!!
Great story line and characters
A very good story!
Very light. Romantic. You’ll know the ending .
Historic romance mystery. Wonderful characters who grow and fit together to define a wonderful European atmosphere.
EXCELLENT BOOK- i HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT
I really liked this book. The good guys and the bad guys are clear and I found it easy to root for the main character.
This was such an enjoyable took to read. The story was unusual and lent itself well to the period in which it took place. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a story well told. It has everything – action, suspense, human tragedy and romance all in one well written book.
I love how realistic the ending was!
Sort of a “Dickens” like tale. Lots of type-casting. Entertaining, despite that.
I like characters that show a human side without getting in bed and watching their lovemaking.
