The first time I saw him was at a bar called Ophelia’s on a misty Thursday night. I was there to drown my sorrows after a trying day, he was there to escape the storm. After a brief yet incredibly cruel exchange, the handsome stranger bolted before I had a chance to tell him off. Incensed and two cocktails deep, I followed him out the door, determined to give the audacious Adonis a piece of my … mind.
Tearing after him in heels and barely able to keep up in the freezing rain, I ended my chase when I realized where he was going.

I never could have anticipated his…
And I never could have anticipated the way our paths would cross again—or that I would one day find myself falling for a man with a hollow cavity where his heart should be, a man as callous as he was beautiful, as complicated as he was mesmeric.

This one’s ours.

Thank goodness for 2 POV, because if we only had Astaire’s point of view, Bennet would have had the wrath of fury rain down upon him. This is an emotional, riveting story that takes you down a rode of destiny and circumstance. Astaire is a brave woman with a soft-spoken air. She has suffered many losses, yet remains optimistic and caring. Bennet has been dealt with an unrealistic hand when it comes to family and what it means. Putting Astaire and Bennet in the same room always results in fiery words and explosive sparks. I kept going back and forth on who I was mad at and whom I loved more. In the end, while I would be cautious in real life, I wish Astaire would have been less stubborn. The growth, love, and acceptance that these two share in this eye-opening journey to learning what true love and family mean. I give this book 10 stars if I could. Again, this is another winner by Renshaw.

I really enjoyed this book!
An amazing storyline and wonderful characters that had me spellbound from start to finish.
This is my favourite book for this year by far….an enemies to lovers romance with two people that are complete polar opposites … Bennet is the snarky, cold and arrogant billionaire that sees and believes the worst in everyone and Astaire is loving, warm and kind kindergarten teacher….He is pessimistic and she is optimistic….
I really recommend this book.

Bennett is cold-hearted, cruel and so alpha it should be a sin. Astaire is a ray of sunshine even on her darkest days. She sees the good in everything and everyone including the cold hearted Bennett. One bump into each other will change their lives for ever and could just melt his ice heart. The romance is so strong in this. and the story is so strong. Great enemies to lovers tale.

This was a really interesting story. Astaire is in a bar and mistakes Bennett, a handsome stranger, for a date that she is supposed to be meeting. Bennett is in no mood for mistaken identities or conversations with strangers. He’s a first class ass to Astaire. He leaves and she follows him and witnesses him going into a funeral home. She jumps to about 152 erroneous conclusions about why he is there. Astaire then continues her stalkish behavior by cruising obituary information until she figures out Bennett’s name. She then creates a dummy email and sends him a condolence letter . He is outraged by her anonymous condolences and the two of them continue to swap mean emails.
It was definitely a unique plot. The writing was good and I was engaged with the story. It was a little hard to get past Bennett the Jerk and Astaire the Stalker in the beginning. By the end I connected more with the characters and was invested in them being together.
This is one that’s sure to please. You have Astaire, sweet to the core. And then there’s Bennett a supposed heartless rich guy.Ms Renshaw puts a unique spin on this enemies to lovers story and you are gonna love, there are surprises along the way. I volunteered to read and review an advance reader copy.
Astaire is trying to rebuild her life. She lost her fiancé a year ago in a car accident and her heart is broken. Bennett has not heart. Or so he thinks. His rich family it’s a dysfunctional one and he has been alone all gis life. When Astaire and Bennett meet at a bar they interaction can’t be more harsh. But they intrigue each other. Can they save each others hearts and souls? A tough love story. I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily reviewed it.
A very unlikely romance of enemy-to-lovers but well-written and structured.
The two main characters are quite interesting and the chemistry is great indeed.
The whole story and style kept me reading and reading.

This is a really good enemies to so much more kind of plot. One stormy night these two people meet and their lives are changed. Fate brought them together but will it be enough for these two opposites. Bennett and Astaire are so opposite. He is a business man, she a teacher. He is dark, cold, realist/pessimist and always expects the worst. She is lightness, sunshine and kindness. It is so true that you should never judge a book by it’s cover. This is an emotional story that captivating and addictive. I could not put it down.
I could not put this book down until I finished the last page. This book is an enemies to lovers tale featuring Bennett, a wealthy businessman with a reputation of being a cruel pessimist, and Astaire, an optimistic kindergarten teacher. Bennett has severe trust issues due to his past, but Astaire has also had her share of life trauma but remains positive in her outlook on life. I recommend this outstanding read with well developed characters and a complex plot filled with strong emotions including steamy attraction and romance.

Is it serendipity or bad luck. In the beginning it looks like bad luck.Bennett an Astaire are polar opposites as far as what people see. Astaire is sweet, loving and will go the distance even for a stranger. Bennett is hard core, rude and cruel. He does not allow people to get close to him. However, under the radar, he helps his employees and people he knows need help. It takes Astaire a while to dig under Bennett outer shell and find a heart of gold. fast paced, wit ha story or characters that will pull you end
This book was so good, I read it in one sitting! Bennett may be easy on the eyes, but his attitude leaves much to be desired! Astaire is a kindergarten teacher who is always optimistic, even though life has thrown her tragedy after tragedy. Mistaken identity leads to these two intersecting with each other. I loved this story and the characters. I would have liked to have seen a bigger showdown between Bennett and his family, but other than that it was great!
Bennett and Alistaire’s story was addictive and full of angst. My first read by this author and I love her writing style. I loved Alistaire and connected with her immediately. Bennett was cruel but Alistaire was meant for him and I enjoyed watching them fall for each other. A great read!

This book is absolutely amazing! The story line is well written, well developed, relatable, funny, witty, and emotionally deep. The characters are strong, deep, likable, and layered; the chemistry between them is intense and hot; I loved watching their story unfold! Reading this book will definitely pull on your heart’s strings and keep you on the edge of your seat. Beautifully written! Strongly recommended! A Must Read!

This book had me twisted and torn at first because although I loved the tension filled start, I had a hard time with the two main characters. Bennett was horrible, cold and cruel and Astaire just annoyed me at first. As I kept reading they grew on me and by the end of the book I was cheering them on to get their HEA. This book has a bit of everything in it drama, angst, mystery, sexual tension, heartache, steam and a great HEA.
A very interesting and enjoyable book
Here it is folks. I have to say I was really struggling the first couple of chapters. It was merely the thought of Bennett dying that made me want to not continue. But once I got through all that I loved it. The characters are amazing, especially sweet Honor. Larissa had a rough life but I would’ve liked some sort of letter from the last type of thing. Love comes when you least expect it and don’t deserve it. And I’m thinking that Bennett finally deserves love.
I received this for an honest review! Here’s what you get love, loss and a HEA.
Maybe a little blackmail and conniving idiots.
Astaire Carraro is trying to slowly move on from the death of her fiance one year ago. She has decided to try dating again but knows it’s not going to be easy. When she approaches a man who might her blind date she is shocked by the cruel words that come out of his mouth.
Bennett Schoenbach’s life revolves around his work and now his life has been flipped upside down with revelations he never expected.
When Astaire tries to reach out to Bennett one more time she is again surprised at his cruel words but soon the two find a common ground. Unfortunately certain secrets have a way of coming to the surface and will other peoples secrets crush any chance of happiness for Astaire and Bennett?
This was such a great book filled with emotion, uncertainty and romance with some twists to keep you gripped on the book!
I felt so bad for Astaire at the beginning of the book with how she was treated by a complete stranger. It was so uncalled for and after everything she had been through with trying to move on, I can only imagine how much it hurt. I was proud of Astaire for going to give him a piece of her mind but then I was impressed with how she reacted when she discovered where he went.
Bennett was such a jerk at the beginning of the book and even when I began to figure out what was going on I was still blown away by how cruel he could be. His relationship with his mother and brother were super interesting and I was more and more shocked as the book went on.
When Bennett ended up reaching out to Astaire it made me really wonder what his motives were as I soon realized he was a little in over his head when it came to Honor. I hoped Bennett was really ready to change but I could tell he was still holding back so much from Astaire.
There were still so many jaw dropping moments in the book that I wasn’t expecting that left me wondering what could possibly come next!
I loved the eventual chemistry between Astaire and Bennett and how they each wanted different things but slowly evolved to want the same thing. Yet until the two completely opened up to the other one there was still so much missing between them.
The end was so awesome and I did a real happy dance when Bennett was finally able to prove to Astaire how much he changed and what he truly wanted!
I have read numerous books by Winter Renshaw–I’ve yet to be disappointed. Renshaw tackled death, organ donation, and starting over in a unique and intriguing way yet staying true to who the the characters are. Astaire appears to be the stereotypical Kindergarten teacher. A woman who looks at the silver lining and has a cheery disposition even in the face of the numerous pitfalls in her life. A run in with a dark brooding stranger changes her life.
Bennett learned the hard way not to trust anyone especially his own family. Being raised my a narcissistic manipulative mother taught him to never show his feelings or weakness of any kind. A chance encounter and a sympathetic email causes him to lash out in anger thus beginning an exchange. Once those stop–he’s at a loss. He needs Astaire’s help. He soon realizes he also needs her.
