No other Shinree has borne as much of magic’s weight, its pleasure, or its guilt. The fate of Ian Troy is revealed in the final installment of C. L. Schneider’s epic fantasy trilogy, The Crown of Stones. In one fell swoop, the resistance was shattered. Lives were taken. Hope was lost. Peace slipped like grains of sand through his fingers. So did the Crown of Stones. Now, forced into hiding, Ian … into hiding, Ian Troy grapples for a way to save the realm—and free its people—from the sadistic clutches of Jem Reth; Mirra’kelan’s new self-appointed emperor. Plagued with the knowledge of a tragic future, he strives to influence events and save those he cares for. But his magic has betrayed him, and Fate has other plans.
Marked by the crown, hindered by the transformation spell contained within, each cast brings Ian one step closer to becoming more beast than man. Each move brings the death and destruction foretold in his vision inexplicably nearer. With Langor on the brink of war, and King Malaq’s plan for peace hanging in the balance, Ian returns to the ancient past; seeking an end to the eldring spell and a means to thwart Jem’s growing domination. What he finds there sets off a chain of revelations that leads Ian places he never thought to go.
Entrusted with the future of his race, Ian becomes the linchpin for lasting change. But how much weight can one man carry? And how much is he willing to sacrifice in the name of peace?

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Bourne is the third and final book in The Crown of Stones series. I’ve truly enjoyed this entire series and I’m a bit sad it’s finished but I’m definitely going to be reading more from this Author. This is a continuation of Ian’s story and is packed with action and danger. Once again I found myself lost in the pages and couldn’t put it down till the end. There’s some twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happens next . Will Ian have the power and the will to change what needs to be changed ?Can he save them from the self appointed emperor? Find out what happens next in this Epic ending to an amazing trilogy. I can’t recommend this book/series enough you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to see what this Author has for next.
A epic conclusion to an epic series. I have loved reading every one. I cried reading this one. It’s the end but so many things happen and it’s also a beginning.
A bittersweet ending to a very good series of books that has the hero evolving into the destiny he was born by race and blood. It was interesting to see how the author could weave into the character all the true emotions that one might feel if they were living in those situations which are a rare quality. It made the characters jump off the page and come alive for me. A good book and series.
A great read about answers. Ian Troy struggles to keep going against the strength of his enemies. Desperate for answers to solve things and tackle his ever growing magic, he seeks the stories of the past. Can he find the answers and defeat his enemies before it’s too late?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Ian trying to keep going despite the odds. Great catsbof supporting characters like the stern Sienn or the caring Jillyan or Jarryd as wise but kind and more to him.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the prologue with the stones and auras and waterfall and magic with their bright and beautiful colours for a sense of awe and wonder so vivid it’s as if you’re actually there. Or the portal with its vivid colours and strange sensations wonderfully written. Or Kabri later with its white sand and beaches in the sunset for a sense of beauty and calm.
A great example of world building with a range of fantastical beings with their own rules and laws and societies. I loved how the author explored more of the history of the Shinre in this novel adding more to them.
I loved how the book brought the reader straight into the story with short sentences and fast paced action to grab your attention and draw you in to make you want to read more. I also liked the use of the journal entries as part of the narrative was written well and didn’t disrupt from the narrative of the present. It also added suspense, with small details revealed slowly to make you want to keep reading, wonderfully written.
The only issue I would raise is that I by the end of the story I felt the rivalry between the world and Langorians was never truly explained when it was a major point in previous novels. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.
In this final installment, we get to see Ian Troy reach his potential and decide what sacrifices he’s willing to make. It’s not as easy to read as the first two because there’s a lot going on as the author tries up the story, but it stays interesting and fast-paced. You just have to pay attention. The fighting scenes are beautifully written and the characters have depth and believability. I always enjoy sequels in the fantasy genre, because the world and rules have already been established, and C. L. Schneider did an excellent job creating this universe. I would definitely recommend this trilogy.
The final book in C.L. Schneider’s trilogy was fantastic. As Ian Troy’s journey came to an end, I cried, I was that vested in his story. This heroic novel had many ups and downs, but the journey was so worth it. C.L. Schneider once again reached, for me, the status of J.R.R. Tolkien and George R.R. Martin. She is that good. This is an author I will follow and I look forward to the next journey.
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider was a wonderful conclusion to the series! I enjoy this genre of books because of the history, character struggle, and character development. The story progressed it got better and better and the writing evolved with the characters. Another thing I enjoyed was just all the twists and turns it really fit with the world. There was enough action to keep you focused on the pages.
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne by C. L. Schneider is the final installment in this series. I really have enjoyed getting to know Ian Troy in this series. Schneider kept my interest through the end of the series. I enjoyed watching Ian Troy grow. His story is unique as I wanted to see where the journey would take him. Can he go back in his past to change the outcome of the future? Troy will need help to change to accomplish his goals. Will he be able to trust his magic? The new emperor Jem Reth,self-appointed is even more sadistic than his predecessor. What will be the future for Troy’s race? Can Mirrs’kalan help Troy? Whatever the outcome may be, you will have to read the final installment Magic-Borne find out the answers.
Magic-Borne was an incredible end to the Crown of Stones trilogy! I laughed, I cried, I experienced so many emotions while reading this last novel. Ian’s future and his fate finally comes to a close in this fantastic end. I couldn’t put it down, and it makes me so sad that there isn’t another book to continue Ian Troy’s adventures. I will definitely be reading more from C.L. Schneider in the future! This whole series has quickly become of my favorites that I’ve read.
This is the third installment to The Crown of Stones series, and it has been a wild ride from start to finish.
This series is one of the best fantasy series I’ve read in a long time, and I’m sad to see it end. I’m sure everyone else who’s read these books can agree that you will be on the edge of your seat and holding your breath at moments.
In this book we are back again following Ian’s story and everything has taken a turn for the worse. Once again he’s having to find a way to bring down his father and save Mirra’kelan. But with things not going right he has to find a new angle of action, once he does he runs across a bounty of revelations. Will Ian have the power to save Mirra’kelan, and it’s people?
I definitely recommend these books they were extremely well done. I will be looking into more from this author and will have this on my re-read list.
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne, is the final and third book in the series form CL Schneider. I found this book to be a great conclusion to the series and just as fast paced and enthralling as the last two. These books are not standalone novels so I would read books one and two prior to finishing this review or other books first. Be prepared when you do pick this one up to carve out a chunk of time to devote to the story. It is a long winded novel at 500 something pages and I found myself looking at the clock in disbelief at 3 am because I just needed to know what happens next. Totally worth it though and the novel takes you on a wonderful and vivid adventure. There is a tad of something for every sci-fi lover in this one. From time travel, magic, and action that will have you on the edge of your seat. The characters are well developed and loveable even when you want to shake a few through the kindle screen. I look forward to seeing what will come next form CL Schneider and if it will be another fabulous sci-fi type novel or something with a new twist.
This is the 3rd and final book in The Crown Of Stones Series.
It follows the continuing story of Ian Troy and his friends as they set out to ride the world of the evil Jem. But after an attack their resistance has fallen and Ian is struggling to control the magic inside him.
Ian is sent on a journey back in time to try and find out how to control the crowns magic, how to stop the spell thats changing him into an eldring and how to defeat his father so peace can return. This is no easy journey, people will be lost and things will be revealed that weren’t expected.
I really enjoyed this series and this last book definately didn’t disappoint.
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne by CL Schneider is the third and final installment of The Crown of Stones series. This is a fantastic ending to a great trilogy of books. Ian Troy’s story has been amazing to follow and I feel the author left the story in a good place. This is definitely a series you want to read in order because one book leads to the next. I love the amount of time and detail the author puts into her stories and this one doesn’t disappoint. I am sad to see this one end but the author did a good job on the ending. I look forward to what this author writes next.
MAGIC-BORNE is the third book in “The Crown of Stones” trilogy. This is a series that has to be read in order. You would be doing yourself and the series a disservice if you read it all wily nily out of order.
This was the (I believe) the longest book of the trilogy and it took me a bit to read it. I was reading the books one right after the other, but I found I had to pick this one up and down a few times to be able to finish it. There is a lot going on… Action, adventure, intrigue, redemption and time travel.
The overall arch of the trilogy was well plotted. These three books together form an epic fantasy adventure with very clear cut beginning, middle and end. i would guess this author is NOT a “pantser” and probably has a timeline with pins and threads tying everything together.
While this is the end of Ian’s story, there is room for more. The universe this trilogy is set in has lots of untold stories and I feel like it could go on for a bit more.
I recommend this series and thing it would be an enjoyable read from YA to Elder.

Such an Epic Ending, my only regret in this is that it is ending. I loved following Ian on his journey through action, adventure, love and history as he did what he had to to destroy the Crown of Stones. There were so many moments, especially in this one I had to hold my breath for fear of who wouldn’t make it through much of the action. There were moments I screamed, moments I cried, and moments I was elated. C.L Schneider did an absolutely brilliant job with this series, from the first book to the last, each one got better and better and made you love or loathe and feel for so many of her brilliant characters. It’s a wonderfully magic and rare occurrence when that can happen, especially when each book gets better than the last, but I adored all three of the books. I say my only regret in this is that it is ending, but it was wrapped up wonderfully and doesn’t need to be stretched out. I will definitely have a book hangover from this series, as I try to find something to fill the void in my heart The Crown of Stones series left behind.
I recommend this for mature audiences, especially those with a penchant for fantasy and a grand story.
5 out of 5 Stars as always.
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider
5-Stars
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider is the final book in this series. It’s an amazing conclusion to one of the best fantasy series I have read in a long time. It continues to feature Ian Troy as he travels into the past to correct wrongs and find a way to bring down his father. I love that Malaq and Jarryd continue to be present for this story. They have fun personalities and really seem to balance Ian’s character at times. Like the other books in this series there is a lot of action and build up to a well thought put climax. The story is easy to follow even though it is lengthy. Don’t let the length be daunting though because there is a lot packed into this novel. I really enjoyed this final book and loved the series. It is one of my favorite series now. I highly recommend it!
I must confess. After I read the second book of The Crown of Stones Trilogy I knew I was hooked. I had this one, The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne by C.L. Schnieder standing by and I started it as soon as I finished Magic Scars and read it from cover to cover. Did not do anything else till I had finished the book. It was that good. From the beginning of Ian’s story and the tremendous guilt he carries, to the dawning of his realization of what his world needs, all things come to a climax in this last book of the series. If I was to boil it all down, I would say love and sacrifice is what this book is about. Truly outstanding. There are a few steamy scenes but nothing that distracts from the core of this story. I can’t say enough good things about this story. I will be reading it again and maybe a third time. This is a book you will add to your library and come back to. I am only disappointed that this book completes the trilogy. I am ready for more adventures with Ian Troy!
An epic ending to a fantastic series.
Schneider held me captive with this story from the first page of the first book through the last page of this one. The journey I have been on with Ian Troy has just been beyond the scope of my imagination. The storyline is grand and epic. It is a fantasy world that you slip into and truly feel transported with the characters you encounter. This was the perfect ending to the series and overall just a great read. This series is going on my read again soon rotation – just that good.
Magic-Borne is the third and final book in C. L. Schneider’s The Crown of Stones series. It is an epic fantasy series that centres around Ian Troy, a Shinree whose fate is intertwined with that of the magical Crown of Stones.
This series has fantastic world-building. I’d definitely recommend starting at the beginning to get more of the details. There are many different races and species characters with different motivations and alliances. There is a long history that influences current and future events.
One thing that I particularly like about this series is that all magic comes at a cost. Troy, and others, do not use their powers without careful consideration – the benefits are always weighed up with the consequences. This is particularly true for Troy, whose magic usage is gradually turning him into a monster. As someone who regularly finds himself in situations when lives – his or others – are on the line, he often has to make the choice between saving lives or staving off his seemingly inevitable downfall.
I’ve really enjoyed this series. For me, this is a five star book. Fans of big fantasy series like Lord of the Rings and Eragon will love this magical, action-packed story.
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider. This is the final installment into this series and I’m sad for it to come to an end. It’s the story of the fate of Ian Troy. In one big swoop the resistance was gone and lives were lost and the Crown of Stones was no longer in reach for Ian. Ian has been thru so much on this long journey. He’s been knocked down, his magic stolen and betrayed by everyone. Knowing that the future is very bleak Ian tries to change events and save those that he cares about. Ian’s vision is not pretty and he’s afraid if this war keeps going the direction its heading no one will survive. This book is full of adventure, emotion and it keeps you on the seat of your chair. You do need to read the other books ahead of this one so that it will all make sense. Its a fun thrilling ride so buckle in and get ready to be hooked!
