Wife to a gambler who took one too many risks, Rahab finds herself sold as a slave to cover her husband’s debt. Forced into prostitution by Dabir, counselor to the Syrian king, Rahab despairs of ever regaining her freedom and her self-respect. But when Israelite spies enter Jericho and come to lodge at her house, Rahab sees a glimmer of hope and the opportunity of a lifetime. In one risky moment, … moment, she takes a leap of faith, puts her trust in a God she does not know, and vows to protect the spies from the authorities. When the armies of Israel arrive weeks later, Rahab hopes they will keep their promise, but she has no idea what kind of challenges await her outside Jericho’s walls–or if she will ever know the meaning of love.
Under Jill Eileen Smith’s talented hand, the familiar story of Rahab bursts forth in high definition. Readers will find themselves fully immersed in a world of dark and dusty streets, clandestine meetings, and daring escapes as a mysterious biblical figure claims her full humanity–and a permanent place in readers’ hearts.

Not often I find Christian Fiction that is enjoyable to read. Some are a stretch to accept as Christian. This one is good! Have you ever wondered how Rahab became a prostitute? How did she and Salmon become betrothed? In fiction we can propose certain actions that may or may not be true. Events are all in line with scripture. The fiction is …
I don’t usually enjoy Bible character fiction, but this one was wonderful and thought provoking.
A well done fiction based on Biblical facts. It showed strong faith and perseverance.
An interesting take on a biblical story. We don’t know who Rahab was before – so it’s a possible “back story” of a woman who has an important place in history and demonstration of “faith”.
Give it 5 stars.
The story of Rahab and the Israelite spies that she protects, and who in turn protect her family from destruction. This book mixes fiction with history. It brings the Bible story to life making Rahab a woman we can understand and empathize with. I enjoyed every single page!
Beautiful story. Brings the bible to life.
I loved this refreshing tale of Rahab. A great retelling of the Biblical account in a way that I did not anticipate.
Interesting old testament of women of faith
I loved this book. It took me inside the culture that produced a prostitute with a heart for the true God. God tasked the Israelites of that day with taking the land by conquest. They were also the children of the generation that were faithless and fell in the wilderness. Like Rahab the prostitute they had questions about who this God is. There …
This is a great story based I believe on the life of Ester from the Bible. Such an easy read and very thought provoking.
Totally unrealistic, but
Entertining
Loved this book. Made the story from the Bible come alive
Interesting take on a story from the Bible. Enjoyable read with well developed characters.
Absolutely wonderful! Brings the people of the Bible to life and gives them heart and soul. Makes you think and imagine how life was during that time.
The book was well written and the characters were well developed. While reading the book I felt such sorrow for the main character. She had no control over her life and suffered the consequences of other people’s actions. By God’s grace and miracle, she was raised from a lovely prostitute to a loved wife and mother.
I loved this fictional account of the life of a little known character from the Bible,
Very informative on the laws and everyday life of the time.
This book was outstanding and a very good introduction to the series Daughters of the Promised Land.
This book is very well written. It is totally captivating and I love the biblical story being the basis.
Thoroughly enjoyed book.
