Excellent writing! I can’t put it down bought the rest of the series!
liked the story. liked the main characters and hated to put it down. Sometimes I had trouble knowing who was talking but it was a very enjoyable read. I want to go on to the next book.
I enjoyed Crime Beat: New York, and I learned from it about NYPD operations and about journalists and their machinations. It’s entertaining, informative and believable.
Review of Crime Beat, Episode One, by AC Fuller
This story opens with the intriguing description of an old man climbing to the roof of a building with a weapon and the intention to use it.
What could possibly motivate such an elderly man to aim from a building’s rooftop into a crowd? Therein lies the central mystery of this book, but there is much more to this story than that central mystery.
There is also a widowed journalist who needs a good story in order to continue her career, a one-legged policeman whose career was ended by her reporting and how their unlikely alliance proves fruitful in solving at least some of the aformentioned central mystery.
Fuller is a real genius at putting readers in the shoes of his characters. When the journalist is terrified, my shoulders stiffen, when the policeman limps, my hip can feel the discomfort.
I love a story that I live with, and within, the characters. If you do as well, read this book. You will not be disappointed and will be as anxious as I to read Crime Beat, Episode Two.
Good story line and plot. A little too detailed in that it gave some of in same details in back to back paragraphs that could have been combined.
Engaging
Action packed & wonderful, believable characters.
can’t wait to read more from this author
Liked this book very much. Kept me reading late into the night.
I’ve been reading his Alex Vane series and admire his writing, so thought I would try this series. No surprise, the writing is terrific here, too. However, I didn’t understand when I bought the book (more like novella length) that this was just one segment of of a 9 part story, so it’s going to cost me $27 to read it all. I don’t think that’s good practice and I’m not sure whether I will continue past book #4, where I am now for that reason.
Great suspense with lots of twists and surprises. Enjoyed the read.
Not bad, but not worth forking out the bucks for an additional 8 books. Count me out.
I so enjoyed this story- very easy to relate to & follow the story. Once you start book is not enough because you will be hooked on the story line. Enjoy. I sure have
Great start of an enthralling series!
Good luck.
Enjoyed reading this book but unless you plan to read the series you will be left hanging.
Great book
Very addictive reading…
After completing Episode One I immediately started on Episode Two. I couldn’t put it down. No time to stop to review. I’m keeping this review short and will provide more details after withdrawal…Never bothered with non-stand-alones but this was totally unexpected and pleasantly absorbing. It’s like reading parts of the same book that you cannot put down. I suggest all the Crime Beats be bought and sold together. Great start to a new hit series. Now reading episode three.
I have read and loved all of A.C. Fuller’s books and this is no exception. Congratulations, again!
It was ok
I just started reading this book and I love it already, it’s a must read
