The Crime Beat is a nine-episode novella series, designed to be read in order and in its entirety. Although each episode tells a complete portion of the story, the nine novellas–read together–weave one unforgettable tale.

I can’t wait to read the sequeal to these. This book was a page turner and also great characters.
Great start to a new series. Quick read. Fantastic situation and characters. Looking forward to the next episode.
An unlikely team forms when a reporter and suspended NYPD officer decide to track down a sniper who just took out his first high profile target. Make no mistakes, this thriller might be short but it chock full of suspense. Enjoyable, quick read.
It was okay. I’m not going to go through nine books though
Want to get book 2.
Jane Cole, a reporter for the New York Sun newspaper, has sufficiently destroyed the career of police officer Warren because of his treatment of a perp. She obviously doesn’t know the details behind the incident, and when she and Warren are entangled in an assassination of a wealthy businessman, they find they have to team up to find the shooter, and realize that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Very fast action and good character building. I wasn’t too sure of the motivation of Jane Cole at first, but as Fuller continues with the story, she and Warren become much more real, and the interaction between the two of them starts very rocky and vastly improves. Great crime drama!
Sometimes repetitive
I didn’t realize it was a short book that had no ending and that you have to purchase the next book to hopefully have an ending. Otherwise it is a good read but has no ending.
This is my first crime beat novel. Jane’s character is smart, witty, and a little snarky. The book gave me an appreciation for how investigative journalists seek the truth to the point of being reckless. But, there is something in their DNA that won’t allow them to stop until they’ve surfaced all the answers. Not a life I would choose, but it makes an interesting read.
Loved it! Glad to discover a new-to-me author!
Cole and Warren are an interesting pair and the storyline was fast-paced and authentic. I liked it but was disappointed when it ended in the middle of the story. I didn’t realize it was a novella. I guess Episode 1, should have been my clue. I will probably go on to the next book to see where these two characters wind up.
Couldn’t put it down. Read the whole series in record time.
DNF
Didn’t like any of the characters enough to care what happened to them.
good story well told
Excellent book!!
a great detective/journalist story
I enjoyed this book but it is a cliffhanger. You need to read the rest of the series to get the whole story.
N
This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed the book tremendously. Interesting weaving of two characters; good plot; good story.
I read the entire series. I found the plot somewhat predictable but still entertaining. I probably will not read another one because I felt “used” by the author. Each “episode” is a chapter! He should finish the book and sell it. Not use his readers as an ATM.
