Very good book. I really enjoyed it a lot. It is a cozy mystery about a pancake house. The owner is murdered and relatives try to figure out who did it. There are many twists in the book but that makes it more interesting. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves cozy mysteries.
A fun mystery in a great cozy setting.
Flip me another pancake…I’m ready for more! What a charming cozy mystery this was. Marley is such a likeable and gutsy protagonist, and the author’s descriptions of Wildwood Cove made me want to head there and settle in for good. The mystery itself was a puzzler, with enough suspects to keep me guessing right up to the satisfying reveal. I’m looking forward to my next visit to The Flip Side and Wildwood Cove ~
Excellent author ! Lots of twists in plot. I really enjoyed this book ! I would like to read more books from same author.
I can’t wait to read the second book in this series! I hope she is a very prolific writer!!!
Not sure what happened – this book had such a good premise but I couldn’t really get into it.

Marley McKinney is working for her grandmother’s cousin, Jimmy, while he recovers from pneumonia in the hospital. She runs his pancake house, Flip Side, and takes care of his home and his cat, Flap Jack. Wildwood Cove is quaint and relaxing until the unexpected death of Jimmy. It isn’t the pneumonia that takes his life, it is an unknown assailant. Marley is devastated by the loss and begins to unravel what happened as she tries to settle Jimmy’s affairs.
I enjoyed listening to this book. The plot kept me engaged and it was hard to stop when I needed to work. The characters were interesting. The main character was well-developed and believable. Other characters in the story are not quite flat, but we still don’t know much about them. The setting was interesting, but I found myself picturing the Atlantic coast. Some of the descriptions left me thinking of Cabot Cove, Maine. I recommend this book and already want to read the second book in the series.
I listened to this book on Chirp. It was excellent! The narrator did the voice so well. It was tense and kept twisting and turning and guessing what the outcome would be. Just when you think you have it figured out, another change in the plot. Great story.
murder-investigation, law-enforcement, greed, small-business, small-town
Murder of a beloved elder relative who is also beloved by the small coastal community.
Marley took time off from her job in Seattle to manage the pleasant eatery owned by Jimmy who had been in hospital with pneumonia. Turns out that he got himself out of hospital at the wrong time and wound up dead, not of drowning but having been stabbed to death first. Law enforcement is good despite being small, but Marley has a need to help, especially after some threatening incidents. No lack of misdirection, red herrings, and disquieting characters. Good sleuthing!
Marguerite Gavin adds to the suspense with her narration.
Pancakes and a cat got me to read it and I’m so glad I did. I really liked the story, the characters, and the setting.
Sarah Fox’s The Crepes of Wrath is a deliciously wonderful start to a new series. Marley McKinney is helping her cousin Jimmy with his pancake restaurant in the quaint seaside community of Wildwood Cove while he’s sidelined with pneumonia, but the situation quickly changes when Jimmy is murdered on his way home from the hospital. Suspects abound in this lovely little cozy mystery, but so do likable characters and I’m looking forward to a return visit as Ms. Fox is an excellent storyteller and I quite enjoyed the story and Marley’s investigation. A+
All of the books in this series were so popular at my library so unfortunately I read them out of order as I moved up on the hold list. Book 1 was so popular that after over a 2 month wait, it was the last of the 3 books that I read. It was well worth the wait. I couldn’t put it down. Great start to the series. Lots of interesting of characters with a great setting. Even though Jimmy was a well-liked guy, there were plenty of suspects. I would definitely recommend this series – and that it be read in order because all the background you need for book 2 is in book 1.
I totally enjoyed this first in a series.
Marley comes to Wildwood to help her Uncle Jimmy’s restaurant while he is in the hospital, but when Jimmy is found dead after he leaves the hospital Marley begins to get curious about what happened especially when the main suspect turns out to be one of Jimmy’s workers.
I love the characters, none are over the top and we are given plenty of suspects in this mystery. I kept changing my mind the further I went along and Marley discovered more clues. I also liked the fact that the police took Marley seriously and did actually investigate. An all around good read, I will definitely continue on with this series.
I love my cozy mysteries and this book did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the characters and the dialogue was thoughtful and entertaining! I really enjoyed the personalities introduced and the story was a fast read. Marley is looking after the Pancake House for her cousin Jimmy while he’s in the hospital. Unexpectedly, cousin Jimmy winds up dead and the whole town may be a suspect in his death. As you meet each character, you really hope that they had nothing to do with the current shenanigans going on in town. You won’t be sorry trying out this first book in a new cozy series!
Fun new series featuring a Pancake House restaurant! Marley is taking charge of her cousin Jimmy’s restaurant while he is in the hospital. After he gets out of the hospital, he is murdered. Marley investigates to find justice for Jimmy and deals with what to do about her life as far as if she wants to stay in Wildwood Beach or go back home to Seattle. I loved the setting of this book, the interesting characters, and the storyline. I can’t wait to read the next books and see what happens with Marley and Brett!
Good light mystery with many twists and turns. It was fast enjoyable reading.
