This is a Beautifully written book for children , I myself enjoyed reading it! I for sure had No idea who the Creeper was until I read it. The illustrations are Beautiful! Every child should read this book or have it read to them. I Loved this book! Thank you Teresa for such a Beautiful book.
The Creeper is an original idea about a mystery character who is looking for something he has lost. But…he doesn’t remember what he has lost. Sometimes we have to retrace our steps to locate a lost item, but The Creeper goes searching and finds clues that lead to what he was searching for. A very cute and entertaining g book that will help children to solve the puzzle of “what The Creeper has lost.”
I look forward to the paperback copy of this charming book.
This is a great children’s book!! Loved it!!! I think children would love it, too!!
What I think you should know:
The Creeper is a Christian Children’s Picture book written by Teresa Posey Carey and Illustrated by LuLu Valentine. It is a delightfully simple book with The Creeper on a search for something lost.
What I think about The Creeper:
As a Mom, and educator I LOVED this book. It was simple, but SO enriching. The book can be used to facilitate so many activities, including a scavenger hunt, a letter scavenger hunt. It can be used to get students to do creative guessing or drawing as to who/ what The Creeper is. The activities that could be built around this book are endless.
My Sons gave this book 5 Stars, they both enjoyed the book and had so much fun guessing who The Creeper was and what he was was looking for. My four year old has asked to read the book multiple times since our first reading and enjoyed it as much every time!
I HIGHLY recommend this book to families and Christian educators alike.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
What a charming children’s book! It reminds me of the type of picture books I enjoyed as a little kid and that so often seem to be absent today. I love that the action takes place outdoors in the country, introducing youngsters to natural landmarks such as brooks, thickets, and lagoons. I reread the story several times, and each time I came across something that I had not noticed before. Initially I was expecting this to be a bit of a spooky story based on the title and cover, but after reading it I realized that, while it is sweet and not scary, it does contain a mystery. More than one, in fact, because not only do we not know who the creeper is, but we also don’t know what exactly he is looking for. The author reveals clues little by little throughout the story, giving kids a reason to engage with the book and enjoy it more than once. Depending on the age of the child, parents may need to read this story aloud. The endearing rhyming nature of “The Creeper” lends itself to reading out loud, as well, and basing the story on Matthew 7:7-8 provides a Christian perspective on issues we encounter daily, such as not being able to find something yet continuing to be persistent and grateful. Lastly, I will say that the illustrations are gorgeous and one of my favorite aspects of “The Creeper”! They are in full color and truly make the story leap off of the page and into your heart.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Celebrate Lit and was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
really enjoyed the story and the beautiful illustrations. The words were easy to read and fit perfectly as the story continues. I know young children would love having this book read to them. It has a wonderful message and perfect to share Jesus with little ones. It will be fun to see how excited the children get trying to guess what will be found. It is a very short book which will be easy to keep little ones attention. The book has a great lesson in never giving up and if you seek you will find. It would be nice to let the little ones know that there is a special message at the end just for the.
I do have to say one thing about the book. The title and cover may be a bit scary for little children. It is a great book but perhaps parents, teachers, etc should explain that the book is not scary at all and is filled with a wonderful adventure.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
This cute picture book story should be a hit with youngsters. The colorful illustrations will appeal to children and adults alike. The suspense grows as the tale continues, making the reader wonder just who the Creeper is, and the rhyming story will have kids joining in when it repeats. The rhyme starts out well on the first two pages then struggles with rhythm and wording. I wish it had been more polished to flow better, but this is still a fun read-aloud book. The author conveys the idea of perseverance in her story, and the alphabet element will be good for those just learning their ABCs. I would recommend this especially for four- to six-year-olds. Perhaps little ones would like to make up more of the story. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
My Thoughts on The Creeper:
This is such a cute kids book. You are going to love it. I have to admit I’m one of those weird parents who has never liked Dr Seuss. It seems like a lot of nonsense to me. I want real words and real-life in my books for my kids. While this isn’t a “real” book it’s not quite the twaddle of one fish two fish. This book I can say is cute and would stay on my shelf.
The illustrations are cute. My kids are repeating the rhymes. I’m not sick of the book yet. That has to count for something! There are so many books that were cute the first 1000 times I read them that I can quote from memory that I now wish did not have space in my brain. So far this book has not reached that status. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad!
We received an ecopy of the book and I downloaded it onto my kids reading device. We got them a Kindle Fire for the younger ones to use with their Reading Eggs program and it’s perfect for kids ebooks! This also made it easy for my older children to read it to the younger ones as well which is always fun for me so I’m not the only one reading.
This book is a good one for younger readers for helping them work on their reading skills. It’s also good for helping to teach rhyming and what words rhyme with each other and how it’s from the endings not from the beginnings of words.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
When I first saw this book I thought of The Creeper from The Scooby-Doo Show. I also thought it looked like a Halloween book. It is nothing like the Scooby-Doo Creeper! It is a very charming picture book for children.
As I read it with my children, we had fun trying to guess what the Creeper could be and what he was searching for. We enjoyed looking at the different picture clues. The pictures are beautiful and sweet!
My toddler, Seth, especially asked me to reread The Creeper several times. The rhyme was so memorable, he told me parts he particularly enjoyed as we reread. Seth also loved finding the items with alphabet letters on them in each picture. These spell out a word at the end of the book.
My only caveat is the story’s resolution isn’t what I expected. That’s how our journey through life often turns out, different than we expected but better. It’s always fun to have a discussion with my children about God’s meaning in our lives.
As a fan of Carma Wilson’s sweet board and picture books, I am delighted to find another story that reminds me of her Mortimer the Mouse series. The sweet message in The Creeper reminds us God directs our steps with many ways small and large.
I received a free advanced reader copy of this book. All opinions are completely my own. Review first appeared on Book of Ruth Ann.
