Ian Grant isn’t a man who accepts help easily. After promising his young son that he could participate in the strawberry festival, and then missing the admittance deadline, Ian’s in a bind and forced to ask the mayor for a favor. The mayor agrees, on one condition: his niece has run into hard times and needs a safe place to stay: Ian’s place to stay. She’s great with kids and Ian needs someone to … needs someone to look after his rambunctious son Andy while he ranches. Ian agrees, expecting some college-aged girl who’d flunked Algebra. Instead, he finds a full-grown woman—a beautiful and sassy one to boot.
Katie Rylie has always dreamed of helping others by teaching them to cook. Her online persona was thriving—until a scandal with her forthcoming cookbook rocked her career. Not only did she have to pay back the entire advance, but her once-loyal fan base has turned against her. Defeated and with nowhere to go, Katie feels it’s better to hide out in the country until she can get her life back together. The offer of a free home, an open range, and a wily six-year-old to focus on sounds like just the escape she needs.
When Andy’s diet restrictions force Katie to become creative in the kitchen, she finds herself drawn back into the food world, just as she’s falling in love with Ian and Andy. But Ian, who likes having control of everything, doesn’t know how to ask Katie to become a permanent part of their lives.
If their love is ever going to work, Ian and Katie will need to learn that having it all doesn’t mean giving anything up.

This is not a bad story but definitely not my favorite by this author. I found it to be very choppy and I had to go back a couple of pages to see if I missed anything. I didn’t connect with the characters but I did like Andy.

This book was written by Leslie North. This book is about bouncing back from the past and moving on. This is Ian and Katie’s story. My favorite part of this story was watching them become a family. Ian lost his wife to cancer and he has a young son Andy, who is highly allergic to lots of things (i.e. food). Ian went to the Mayor for a favor in turn the Mayor wanted a favor from him. His niece Katie needed some where to stay. So now Katie is at Ian’s ranch. What I got from him is even though he is a Alpha male, he is still very shy or maybe unsure. I think maybe his wife was the only girl he had been with. But now that Katie was there he found himself attracted to her and her to him. As she cared for his son and made sure that he ate things that was safe for him. Their attraction became stronger. I also see that Ian was very overprotective of his son and I can under stand why. As for Katie she did something wrong by using others recipes in her cookbook. But she refused to fight back. But as the story went on. They pushed the each other to become a better version on themselves. This was a fun, family related story. Each chapter taught you the meaning of trust. The title really helped define the plot and I loved the ending. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a down home love story.

Katie surprises Ian in more than one way
Leslie is a top ten author for me and this story did not disappoint! Ian needs a favor from the Mayor for his son to be in Strawberry Fest. In return, the Mayor asks for a favor for his niece, Katie to replace Carol, Ian’s retired housekeeper. When Ian and Katie meet, the electricity sparks between them. But will Katie’s goals destroy any chance they have? You have to read to find out!
Children tend to change the dynamic of a story. Whether real or fiction, a child innocence, can bring out the best or worse in people. North understood the complications and was determined to take the risk. The Cowboy’s Surprise Nanny is a romance that becomes a family affair. Ian and Katie prove that true love is neverending and always growing.
Ugh I love Andy and Ian along with Katie are pretty great too, I am a sucker for the down and out finding their new path in life and someone to love and this did not disappoint. There is laughter, sadness, hope and love which keeps you turning the page and at times wanting to shale Katie and Ian as well as clap with joy. I can’t wait to read more in the series as I am hooked!

THE COWBOY’S SURPRISE NANNY The Grant Brothers Book #1 By Leslie North
This is the story of Ian Grant, a widowed father and his young son Andy and Katie Rylie. Ian messes up and misses the last participation sign up date for the strawberry festival when Andy was in the hospital and needs a favor from the mayor to get Andy in. The mayor has his own favor to ask, a nanny job for Katie who is a disgraced cook and has had her world imploded and needs a quiet place to ponder her next steps in her life. Andy has severe food allergies and Katie is able to find ways of feeding him safely and teaching him to cook. It’s not long before Katie and Andy are totally bonded and she is falling for Ian. I found this to be another good solid story with likeable characters. Ian and Katie have a lot of chemistry and Andy is adorable.

Ian lost his wife two years ago. He has a 6 yr. old son, Andy. His nanny Carol is retiring and he needs another nanny. Andy has a lot of food allergies. Ian has to ask a family friend, Mayor Clark, for a favor and the friend in turn asks Ian to give his niece a job. Ian has no choice but to except. Ian is expecting the new nanny to be a college student. Surprised to find out she is no college student but a knock-out red hair beauty. Ian loves red heads. Katie always wanted to teach other to cook. She was writing a book when she screw up and put another persons recipe in her book taking credit for it. Now she is back in Texas until she can get her life back together again. The attraction between Ian and Katie grows. Ian like to be in control at all times and they butt heads. Ian gets upset at one time and sends Katie away. I had to laugh when Andy starting crying and said “We are going to starve to death.” Great read with a good story.

Katie needs to escape the limelight because her career as an online chef is hit with a scandal. Ian is a widowed cowboy who needs a nanny for his young son, Andy, who suffers from food allergies. The babysitter/nanny trope is one of my faves. I enjoyed the dynamics between Katie and Andy, the little boy. I just felt the romantic relationship between Katie and Ian was perfunctory. There was not a lot of angst and what little there was was to do with their individual history than their budding relationship. An ok read.

Really enjoyed this book. Ian is a great character that makes you want to cry for him and hit him at the same time. Katie is an amazing strong female lead and little Andy will just melt your heart.

A single dad – a widower – is struggling with bringing up his son. Out of obligation he accepts Katie into his household as a nanny to his son. Little does he know how that will change all of their lives.
The story in itself is nothing special, the hiccups in the story are the ones one would expect, and still – like old friends one welcomes them to make the story complete – like a fairy tale re-telling, slight changes to the version one is already familiar with.
And like a fairy tale, this book makes you dream and hope and feel well entertained. It is short enough to be finished within a few hours, so a perfect read for a holiday – a real Hallmark story.

Ian and Katie meet when he does a favor for the Mayor. She’s the new nanny for his son. What starts as an inconvenience to Ian turns to more as they talk and spend time together. When Ian gives Katie the cold shoulder after an incident will she forgive him for icing her out?
Their connection is slow and steady but one bump could derail the whole thing.

Leslie does it again; she has started a new series, but this time, step aside city boys – we have Texas cowboys. This book is about Katie and Ian; she was in the spotlight as a new up and coming chef; however, a mistake cost her everything, so now she in back home and being the nanny to Andy, Ian’s son. Ian lost his wife and has dedicated his time in providing for Andy but has missed some good years. Katie comes in and changes things around for both of them. Andy is very fond of her and Ian sees something that he had not notice in his son, so he gives her a chance to stay with them. You can imagine how Ian also falls for Katie, but he has his doubts on certain things, which he confronts her with and ends up asking her to leave. I loved the ending – did not expect it, but was wonderful. I can’t’ wait to read Ian brother’s story.

Ian and Katie’s story was short and sweet. I liked that they both had another chance to make things work individually. Andy was a cute addition, but not a main character. I felt like I was missing something throughout the story, most likely because it was so short and didn’t go into a a lot of detail.

A Delicious and Delightful Small Town Romance
THE COWBOY’S SURPRISE NANNY – THE GRANT BROTHERS BOOK 1, by author Leslie North was a small town love story out of Texas. Disgraced Instagram cook, Katie hides out on a ranch as a Nanny, a position her uncle the mayor arranged with Ian the rancher and his son, six year old Andy. She wins Andy over immediately with her ability to cook him food despite all his food allergies. Ian’s not so sure however physically he knows she’s hot.
Will they move closer? Will she stick around? Will he loosen up?

4.5 stars This was an excellent western style romance with tragedy, surprises, and small town families. The blurb gives readers an idea of what the story is about. The author did a wonderful job of developing the characters and storyline. This is a stand-alone romance with a HEA. Ian is the single parent grieving and struggling to care for himself and young son. Andy’s character is realistic and heartwarming. Katie is a cook who will stand up for everyone except herself. I received a complementary copy of this book via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
