Never get in the way of a family feud—When Millionaire Carl Whitfield sold his Silicon Valley start-up and moved to Montana to pursue a ranching life, the Coopers took him in and taught him everything he needed to know. Now he’s ready to buy a spread of his own, settle down and start a family, and the Coopers are the key to getting the property of his dreams. Too bad the woman he craves is on the … craves is on the wrong side of the bitter, hundred-year-old Cooper-Turner feud. If he pursued Camila Torres, he might lose everything he came here to gain.
Banished from her family’s business for refusing to work under her less-talented brother, Camila came to Chance Creek to open a restaurant of her own. Taken in by the Turners, she’s done just that—and found a community that’s far more supportive than her family ever was. She won’t risk losing the Turners’ friendship by dating a man beholden to their mortal enemies—at least, not until Carl proves he’s here in Chance Creek to stay. He’s had plenty of time to find a ranch. What’s taking so long, anyway?
Will Carl and Camila’s desire for each other spark the Cooper-Turner feud into an all-out war?

loved it
I really, really liked the other books by Cora Seton, so I thought I’d try this series. If I hadn’t known she writes superb characters and (usually) has a tremendous plot in store, I would’ve chucked it and stopped reading. I just coudn’t get into the characters and I really didn’t care what was going to happen next. I am, to say the least, disappointed. However, I AM going to try to read #2 ~ perhaps this was just a bump on the wonderful Seton Road . . . . ?
This book started out slowly, but picked up once Carl and Camilla got to Mexico. The slow revelations of family secrets and lack of communication proved to be interesting.
The Turner vs Cooper feud left me stumped. I don’t know if it was covered in some other series, or if this is actually the first time it was discussed. I felt like I walked into the middle of a feud and was missing several important details.
Overall, it was an ok book. A sweet romance that ended in an HEA fo r Carl and Camilla.
Silly feud, silly traditions – however, a fairly enjoyable read.
Maybe tone it down a bit – the plot carries the book.
love the series
The Hatfields and McCoys have nothing over the Turners and the Coopers. Cora Seton’s The COWBOY’S SECRET BRIDE is a fast read with interesting characters; one a millionaire and one a chef. Carl lost Camila once. He is not going to lose her again. There are numerous twists and turns as the action moves from Montana to Texas to Mexico and back to Chance Creek, Montana (with a couple of trips to California in the mix). All Carl wants is to win Camilla’s heart. All the Turners and the Coopers want is to best each other at all costs.
Great book- without the filth! Well done
I have the complete series. Who doesn’t love Cora and her wonderful characters
Loved this book. It was hard to understand Camilla’s feelings at times but I really enjoyed the characters, the family dynamics are funny and the fact these two are only family by association makes it even more so. So happy to see Carl get his happy ever after.
Entertaining!
Good book. You can’t go wrong when you pick a book by Cora Seton. stories are always good.
I read the whole series. I liked reading it.
Millionaire Carl Whitfield has been head over heels in love with chef Camila Torres for three years. He took her out on a date but when Camila expressed that she planned to remain in Chance Creek to live her life he knew it was a game changer. He was determined to find a place and now three years later he has a lead on a ranch to buy and is ready to make his feelings clear with Camila. The only problem is the Turner vs Cooper feud that has them sneaking around trying to finagle their relationship as well as keep the long heated feud as far away from the two of them as possible but it is impossible. Can the couple who are meant to be together stay together?
This was charming, there is a lot going on and Camila has some family issues that creep up in the story. The Turners and Coopers are nuts, hilarious but nuts. I can’t wait to see where this story goes.
A great story. Great characters. Many twists before a happy ending
good book
Loved it.
I have read this series each one is better then the next. Can’t wait till the next one comes out.
This book is the first in a new series, but takes place in the same world as a previous series by this author. I haven’t read the other series, but had no problem getting into this book, so it reads well as a stand-alone. I found the focus on romance in this story so appealing. The story is very sweet, with very little physical action between the characters (they don’t even kiss until well over halfway through the book), but I found that surprisingly refreshing. I cared about the characters and really enjoyed the inclusion of the Mexican culture in the story. This is a true love story that left me with a smile on my face.
This series of books by this author is an easy read. Often they are predictable but enjoyable.
