A good story.
The Cowboy’s Return was amazing! It was the perfect ending to the Family Ties series 🙂 In it, we have Lucas and Summer’s story (one of high-school sweethearts and second chances). Theirs wasn’t an easy one, since he’s a recently discharged military man, and she’s pregnant from her last relationship. Still, their love is still there, and it will be just the motivation for their slowly working things between them again.
As always, Ms. Aarsen did amazing with this book and characters, and I especially loved all the interactions and support from the rest of the Tye family.
Completely recommended.
Can Lucas and Summer ya e a second chance in love? She is now pregnant and taking care of his grandmother and Lucas has just been discharged from the military after an injury. She wants to give the baby for adoption and he want to sell the ranch and leave. Can they make their life in Rockyview and find happiness and love again? A sweet story with a few tough decisions. I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily reviewed it.
Faith and forgiveness at work
I also received an advance copy to read (and proofread). Since I have the bad habit of proofreading everything, I caught a lot of the aforementioned errors. Hopefully they have all been addressed before the book was released.
Errors aside, I loved this book! Lucas and Summer have messy pasts to work through before they can step into a strong relationship and a hopeful and faith-filled future. The characters are strong and believable, with flaws and bad choices. As they overcome their pasts and look to their true Father, they can face the future together. It is sad to reach the end of the series, but on to new adventures!
Lucas and Summer were engaged but broke up. Summer couldn’t cope with Lucas becoming a solider. Lucas is injured in a training session and medically discharged. He comes home to decide what he wants to do. When he gets to his ranch he’s surprised to see Summer there taking care of his grandmother. Summer is pregnant and has a secret. I really enjoyed this book.
This book is not the typical story about a War Vet returning home to face his past.
It is about family and the dynamic that makes it. It is also about forgiveness and much more.
It is a refreshingly inspiring story
I highly recommend this book.

It’s complicated…
The Cowboy’s Return is actually the fourth book in a series, but it does work as a standalone. it’s a sweet, clean, Christian romance set in the wild ranch lands of Alberta, Canada. The story is anything but simple, however, as returning rancher and ex-soldier Lucas must now deal with all that he left behind to serve overseas. His foster family is still his rock, but the changes in Lucas and the choices he must make still threaten to send him packing again. Can he reconcile with his memories of his dead parents? Can he find a way to live with the grandmother who dropped him off at the foster home the day after his parents’ funerals? Can he deal with the presence of the ex=girlfriend who dumped him over his career choices? Especially now that she’s still unwed, but very pregnant? Everyone in thisi story has much to learn about love, forgiveness, and their own hearts, and their journeys are honest and real. Fans of slow-burn, sweet romance in the big country will love this one. This is a voluntary ARC review.
I am a fan of Carolyne Aarsen books! In The Cowboy’s Return is the final book in the Family Ties series which is a heartwarming emotional second chance story. Lucas has many tragedies and rejections in his life and returns to his house and to family who he considers his family after being wounded in the military. He is surprised when he arrives home to find to find Summer the love of his life to be nursing his estranged grandmother, pregnant and single. Their story has such depth and raw feelings that you are drawn into this book. The Cowboy’s Return is emotional and well worth your time to read it. I received an arc copy of this book for an honest review of it.
Lucas and Summer are struggling with so much. This is a Christian romance but so much more. Forgiveness and reconciliation are two big themes in this book. I liked how the author handled Summer’s secret and was refreshing considering the world we live in right now. It is so hard to forgive others for the sins they commit against us. Loved how these two characters sought the Lord in order to do so. A really sweet ending.
I loved this whole series. And The Cowboy’s Return was a perfect peek into the history of Lucas and how he finds home again. I highly recommend it you like clean inspirational stories.
Lucas Groves’ life has taken twists and turns since he was nine years old. There were happy innocent years; family death devastation years; and, years of growing up in foster care which turned out to be a forever family. The Tye family gave him roots but his mind always thought to follow his biological Dad and serve in the military. Now coming home from three tours of overseas service, he returns to the ranch home he knew was waiting for him. Having lost his love some years ago, it seemed a sad return and as I read the first of this book, I waited for something positive to come out of tension and disappointment. Yes, Summer, his lost love was there; yes, his Grandmother who had refused to raise him, was there; but his heart was heavy and mind in a whirl. This is an interesting and thoughtful story-line that I truly feel has happened to some of those returning home from military service.
This author did an amazing job of turning heartache into happiness with realism and inspirational feeling. Thanks for giving me an early ARC copy to read and enjoy.
The Cowboy’s Returns by Carolyne Aarsen
Family Ties Series Book Four
Lucas Groves has finally returned to Rockyview. He doesn’t plan on staying though. After his parents died and his grandmother brought him to the Tye family, he never felt like he belonged. Add to that, his girlfriend breaking up with him because he wouldn’t leave the army…well, there just wasn’t anything worth staying for.
Summer Auger doesn’t expect to see Lucas. Especially this way. In his home. Taking care of his grandmother. And worst of all…to have Lucas see Summer at eight months pregnant. On top of all of that—Summer finds that all her feelings for Lucas are still there.
For a guy who doesn’t want to stay, he’s finding more and more reasons not to leave. I loved this series. So many great characters and such real-life issues. If you cry, this is definitely a tissue alert book.

The Cowboy’s Return is a very powerful, emotional, second chance romance from Carolyne Aarsen. Ms. Aarsen’s books always move me as her very realistic characters strive to overcome their hardships. Summer is helping Lucas’ estranged grandmother recover from hip replacement surgery. Summer had planned to be gone long before Lucas came home from the military, but Lucas arrives early. The chemistry between Lucas and Summer is still there despite her being pregnant with another man’s child. Can be read as a stand alone with no confusion but it is great to catch up on other members in the Tye family. I am sorry the series has ended because I always want more. If you enjoy well written, clean romance, do not miss this book.
