Single mom Heather Browning will do anything to get away from her controlling ex-husband–including buying a rundown strawberry farm in Montana. Maybe the locals are right, maybe she is crazy. Still, she’ll do anything to keep her twin son and daughter safe and happy—and keep her ex out of the picture. When her only horse comes up lame, she calls local veterinarian Randy McCall. The sexy cowboy … cowboy takes one look at her farm and dilapidated house and offers his help, but Heather is quick to say no. She doesn’t need anyone’s help—no matter how gorgeous and tempting Randy is. But after hurting her ankle and discovering her roof is riddled with leaks, she reluctantly agrees to temporarily move herself and the twins to the McCall Ranch. If Heather wanted a charming, sexy, man—which she does not—Randy would be perfect. Good thing she only wants to be friends…
For as long as he can remember, Randy has liked saving things. So when he’s hit with the impossible-to-ignore need to help Heather, he chalks it up to his nature. Thanks to matchmaking townsfolk, Randy is “given” to Heather for twenty-four hours of free labor, and he’s happy to oblige. It’s certainly not because he’s crazy attracted to her. Definitely not because the twins are making him think silly thoughts about being a dad. And no way is it because that one soft kiss made his heart feel like it was struck by lightning. Even as Randy tells himself—over and over—that he’s not a relationship kind of guy, his stubborn heart doesn’t believe it. Knowing Heather has already been hurt by a man, he decides to stop things before they get out of hand. But can he stop himself from falling in love?

Love Randy, he is such a sweetheart, mild-mannered, upfront and thoughtful. Now where to start with how I feel about Heather, lol. I like that she’s building a new environment and lifestyle for her and the twins. I think she’s in way over her head with the farm though. Her past, that subject matter is always sad, it kind of made that part of the plot predictable and I think some of her actions toward Randy were premature and immature. Other than that, I like their story and the ending is touching. He is patient, forgiving and his love for her is obvious. 3 1/2* I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Okay – I love a book with a strong independent woman especially one with children that she has determined to make it on her own. This book is about Heather, Randy and her adorable twins (Andy and Amelia). She has purchased a strawberry farm to get away from her ex-husband and he is the town vet (for a year at least to comply with the will of his parents). Well the place she bought needed a lot of work but she was too proud to ask for help. As this is a small town there are way too many busybodies that do not tend to their own affairs that figured out how to help her. The only way that was going to happen was to buy Randy in the towns auction. The banter between her and Randy was too much at times, but lovable. Her twins won his heart almost immediately once seeing Andy pull Amelia’s hair. The kids took to him as well and when it poured down and her home was flooded, he offered his home and it was there that they both accepted the feelings they had for one another. Of course there is confusion, threats from the ex and a HEA ending, so this is worth the read…

Randy is the second of the McCall brothers. He is the veterinarian and back at the ranch to take his turn so the brothers can meet the guidelines set down by their parents so they keep the ranch. He is quiet and not interested in anything but growing his practice. Heather has just moved to the area and has bought a house and some land that she is going to turn into a strawberry farm. She has twins and a past she wants to keep hidden. She does not trust other people and just wants to do everything herself. But she needs a vet. Randy wants to help her around the farm and she resists his efforts. Then a rainstorm comes along and the roof leaks so badly that Heather and the twins can’t live there. She moves to the ranch with Randy, agreeing only if she can serve as housekeeper for him to earn her keep. There is an attraction between the two but their histories are keeping them from pursuing a relationship. Can they resolve their differences? Can they stop doubting their feelings? And can they stop and listen to each other?

Randy, the youngest McCall brother and a veterinarian just starting to build his practice, is only too happy to be used by the Nice Ladies in town to help Heather get settled in at the strawberry farm she purchased after leaving her abusive ex-husband. There’s a lot of work to be done, her adorable three-year-old twins to take care of, and the requisite emotional hurdles to be overcome on the way to their HEA.
The romance felt a little rushed to me, but it does eventually all work out. As a male lead, Randy was more reactive than proactive, which could be due to his youth but is probably more due to the space allotted for character development in this short novella. Still, it was a nice visit with the charming McCall brothers and I’m looking forward to reading Carson’s story next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
ONE MESMERIZING JOURNEY!!!

Sparks fly as drama, intrigue, distress, turmoil as tension spirals, thrusting this lil’ fella into a tailspin with shocking results. Seizing the moment, traversing the trials and tribulations, revving up a bounty of plot twists and sleek turns, fusing this gem together flawlessly. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable connection and amplifying affections, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are authentic and genuine with depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Leslie, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
Heather, the mother of 3 yr old twins, moved to Winding Creek, for a new start and to get away from her abusive ex. When she called the vet to see to her horse, she never expected to be attracted to another man ever again. He was kind, considerate and wanted to help her with her run down farm. Randy didn’t think he wanted a relationship but found himself thinking of Heather more and more. When the rain came and left her roof leaking like a sieve and uninhabitable, he convinces her to move to the ranch until repairs can be made. A heartwarming read with wonderful characters and a HEA for two people who deserve true love.

Heather decided to buy the old strawberry farm in Winding Creek a very small town. Randy can’t to her farm since someone called about her horse. Heather couldn’t believe she forgot all about the call. Randy is standing there looking at her twins who were being naughty. Randy was taken with Heather even though he knew nothing would ever happen. He was happy to help her out using the animals as an excuse. He and his brothers have been taking care of the ranch except Trevor was making time between his wife Jade and the baby on the way. Every time Heather heard the phone ring she dreaded it would be her ex husband. Randy and Heather were going to be living under the same roof because of her place. He was attracted to her but he knew it would go nowhere not only because of her but also because he knew he couldn’t go down that route. Heather and Randy finally get together and she had been so rude to him.She wanted to tell him she was sorry but his brother told her he is in town. Heather goes into town and sees Randy in the arms of another women
Leslie North’s The Cowboy’s Rescue#2.
Randy McCall, a veterinarian (including big farm animals), is the youngest of the three McCall brothers. He has completed arrangements to move back into the family’s home place to comply with his parents’ will stipulations.
Randy meets Heather Browning, a single mom, while on a call to help Heather’s injured horse.
Heather seems to have bitten off more than she can chew. To get away from her abusive ex-husband, Heather bought a farm as far away from her ex as she could get. She has cute 3-year-old twins, Andy and Amelia.
Heather’s “strawberry farm,” needs a lot of work—most of which she doesn’t know how to do. Randy does a few simple repairs to help keep the farm animals safe on her farm.
Randy has a soft heart for those in need. When the mayor asks him to be involved in a bachelor auction to raise money for a worthy cause, Randy agrees. He didn’t expect to be bought by the mayor and the town’s leading ladies; then, have them give his services as a welcome-to-the-town gift for Heather to use.
What will happen when the farm proves to be unlivable; then, the ex-husband walks back in the picture? Read to find out!

I found the story to be a bit slow, detached and it was difficult to engage with the characters. It’s a simple romance on a strawberry farm that has been newly purchased by Heather and her neighbor and town veterinarian Randy McCall. Their timid and reluctant relationship is sweet but, skittish and unpredictable at the same time especially, with three year old twins running around and a threatening ex-husband.

This is a good cowboy romance with some twists and turns – but in the end there is the forever popular HEA, so despite some things going on during the story one can rest asured that all will be well … The story is very well deserving of the four stars I am giving it here. And another thing that is always also good with this author is that even though this is an ARC there are hardly any errors or typos at all!!! So as always, this is only my opinion but I can really recommend this story for y´all who like cowboy romances.

3.5 stars **** This book about Randy was a nice follow up to Trevor’s story but not as quite detailed or fleshed out. Reading the first book about Trevor helped me understand the predicament the brothers are in with their parents ranch. I liked the book but it was just missing more in-depth background on Heather’s running and there is very little action from her ex. Overall, it is about Randy and setting up for the third brother, Carsen. Enjoyable read.
