Single mom Heather Browning will do anything to get away from her controlling ex-husband–including buying a rundown strawberry farm in Montana. Maybe the locals are right, maybe she is crazy. Still, she’ll do anything to keep her twin son and daughter safe and happy—and keep her ex out of the picture. When her only horse comes up lame, she calls local veterinarian Randy McCall. The sexy cowboy … cowboy takes one look at her farm and dilapidated house and offers his help, but Heather is quick to say no. She doesn’t need anyone’s help—no matter how gorgeous and tempting Randy is. But after hurting her ankle and discovering her roof is riddled with leaks, she reluctantly agrees to temporarily move herself and the twins to the McCall Ranch. If Heather wanted a charming, sexy, man—which she does not—Randy would be perfect. Good thing she only wants to be friends…
For as long as he can remember, Randy has liked saving things. So when he’s hit with the impossible-to-ignore need to help Heather, he chalks it up to his nature. Thanks to matchmaking townsfolk, Randy is “given” to Heather for twenty-four hours of free labor, and he’s happy to oblige. It’s certainly not because he’s crazy attracted to her. Definitely not because the twins are making him think silly thoughts about being a dad. And no way is it because that one soft kiss made his heart feel like it was struck by lightning. Even as Randy tells himself—over and over—that he’s not a relationship kind of guy, his stubborn heart doesn’t believe it. Knowing Heather has already been hurt by a man, he decides to stop things before they get out of hand. But can he stop himself from falling in love?

This is the second book in the McCall Ranch Brothers series. I didn’t read the first one and I wasn’t lost at all. Each book follows the story of a brother.
Cover: It was the main reason I grabbed this book on Netgalley. I like the contrast of colors of the setting sun and the title. Also, the cowboy has perfect abs. If all cowboys looked like him, I think ranching would be a more popular career.
Characters: I found myself drawn to the characters. Heather was trying to escape an abusive ex-husband. She moved her and her adorable children to a small town in the middle of no where. She is just the type of character I like cheering for. Someone who has released how bad their situation is and struggles to change it. Randy moved to town when his parents died and left him and his brothers the ranch. He is a reluctant hero. He is not sure he wants to be there. He’s a veterinarian by trade. As a veterinarian myself, Randy was portrayed with the fatal flaw of being a vet. He has a lot of empathy and has to help people. It may go above and beyond helping Heather when the town starts talking about how much he is helping her.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. The characters were great. The tension kept the story moving. The only thing I would comment is that the ending wrapped everything up really quick, also most too quick. I wanted her to have a huge confrontation with her ex but that didn’t happen.
I received this story from Netgalley. This is my honest opinion.
The storyline was great and the characters were very likable, believable and engaging! As I turned each and every page I felt like Heather and Randy pulled me right into their story as it unfolded!
The second in the McCall brothers series. A person invests all her money in a strawberry farm, sight unseen, which of course, was in total disrepair. There is angst, drama, fun, romance, steam and of course an HEA. Easy, quick read. Enjoy.
Heather Browning has divorced her controlling husband and moved to a strawberry farm in Montana. Along with her three-year old twins, Andy and Amelia she hopes to make a success of the farm. Randy McCall, town veterinarian arrives at the farm to tend to her horse and slowly begins to have feelings for Heather and the twins. Heather refuses additional help from Randy and insists on taking care of the farm, until a heavy rain storm reveals more problems with the farm. While her home is repaired, can moving to Randy’s family ranch show Heather that Randy is not a controlling man like her ex? A pleasant small-town western story. Randy is taking his turn at the farm after finishing Veterinarian School.
Heather Browning is a single mom of twins who just bought a strawberry farm after leaving an abusive husband.
The chemistry between Randy and Heather is strong and lightning hot.
This is a short fast paced read that will keep your attention until the end.
Randy is back in town to fulfill the clause in his parent’s will. A the new town Vet, he gets a call to go out to the new strawberry lady’s house to check out her horse. Heather has moved to the middle of no where to protect herself and her 3 year old twins from her ex husband. After what she experienced, she wants nothing to do with men and she does not need their help.
When something goes wrong for Heather every time she turns around, Randy is there willing to help her.
Can these two people not looking for romance, find love with each other?

This book was gripping, well written & the chemistry between the characters, Randy & Heather, sizzled throughout this wonderful read.
Well done Leslie. I look forward to more!
Great 2nd book in this series about the McCall brothers. When Heather turned up at Winding Creek for a fresh start with her twins away from her abusive ex-husband she was determined she was going to do everything herself never relying on anybody else for help ever until the local vet turned up. Randy was back at his home Ranch following the death of his parents whose will stated that he & his 2 other brothers had to live there for a year so he started working as a vet having his last relationship end sadly he wasn’t ready for any relationships again so got on with his job that was until he met the new additions to their town Heather & her twins Amelia & Andy. There was a sexual chemistry between them but neither wanted to admit it & seeing the state of her house Randy wanted to help her fix it up but she was too stubborn to accept his help until she had no choice. I hoped that they would eventually get together & admit how they both felt Randy was also falling for the twins aswell but it seemed like the horrible past she left behind may come between them when he ex-husband turned up threatening taking her children away. Once I started I couldn’t stop reading & now looking forward to reading Carson’s story.

Fantastic cowboys romance that will keep you entertained and make you swoon! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.
This is the story of Randy the second MacCall brother. He is a vet moving back home to fulfill his parents’ will.
Heather is a divorced mum to a couple of twins, aged 3. Getting away from her abusive ex-husband, she tries to get a new life for her and her twins.
Randy is a gentle man who can see through Heather’s pain and fear. But she is too scarred to see the good in him.
A story about a gentle spirit helping a needed person, not only with his hands but also with his heart.
I loved the twins; they are so cute!
Delightful! Randy, may be the baby, but he’s 100! Heather, bought a strawberry farm sight unseen as a last ditch attempt to escape her ex husband, Brad and to build a solid life for her twins, Andy and Amelia. Andy and Amelia charmed the town and gave the older women an opportunity to love on some delightful babies. Randy has an overdeveloped need to “help”. He has a little guilt driving his need. Heather is in a position, having no experience running a strawberry farm with an absolutely delapidaed house needing total reconstruction of being capable, but needy. A match made in heaven, what could go wrong? Can the house withstand bad weather? What happens if Brad finds them? When does Randy admit he likes having a family? Nice story. Randy is a peach. Heather is brave and strong. I had concerns that a wise person knows when to ask for help, especially when totally out of their element. Good story! Nicely done, good characters, good continuation of the story. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As always Leslie North has penned a delightfully emotional story with very strong characters. A battle of wills between a recently divorced woman determined to survive on her own and a man determined to help her, lead to a lot of dramatic interaction before we get a HEA.
The story of Heather and Randy is sweet and heartwarming. The couple didn’t get their hea without having to go over some bumpy road. I like it better than Trevor’s story.

Randy moves back to town and is trying to set up his practice. His services are olunteered for the annual auction to provide labor for the winning bidder. To his dismay he is the first one out and had been bought prior to coming out. The mayor and several others purchased his services for the new single mother who needed a lot of manual labor. They hit it off , however she is stubborn and doesn’t want to accept help. Can they both overcome their pasra ro accept their future? HEA. Fast read.

Heather is trying to keep her twins safe and happy even if it mean buying a rundown strawberry farm in Montana. Her ex was a controlling and abusive man so she didn’t want her kids raised around that. When she needs her horse looked after she calls Randy McCall. As a welcome the ladies of the town give Randy’s vet services to Heather for 24 hours however they are hoping to match them up as a couple. Randy enjoys spending time with Heather and her family soon things start to heat up between them. Will Heather take a chance with Randy? Will her past come back to haunt her?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I really liked Heather and Randy as they are both a bit stubborn but also guarded about their lives especially Heather due to the need to protect her twins from her ex. There is plenty of laughs, awkward moments, tension and a good bit of suspense in regards to Heather’s ex which keeps you hooked and turning the page. .

I love how Leslie North does cowboys and I especially love the series. Even though it’s a standalone you can always be glad to see the other brothers and family make an appearance. I enjoyed this being a single mom story and Randy being there to help and save Heather. Their story was sweet, steamy, and all kinds of feel-good that I couldn’t put it down.
