No man should be as sexy as Trey Cantor when he’s mucking out a horse stall. But then again, there’s no man quite like Trey. Charity has known Trey all her life, but she can still appreciate a fine-looking man when she sees one, and Trey is far more to Charity than just a fine-looking man. He may have always seen her as his best friend’s little sister, but Charity’s all grown up and her crush on … her crush on Trey has grown up too. If only she could get him to see her as a woman.
During a trip to buy Charity’s new barrel-racing horse, Trey’s floored—and a bit horrified—by how attracted he is to her. He wants to put her firmly in the friend zone, but his body disagrees. And when they get home, that attraction ignites all the way to the bedroom, leaving Trey riddled with guilt the morning after. He feels he’s betrayed the family who made his life bearable when he was young and dealing with a drunken, violent father. But what Trey is convinced was a mistake turns into so much more when Charity finds out she’s pregnant—with twins. Now, he’ll do right by her and support his children. He’ll take care of Charity, like he’s always done.
The only thing is, Charity insists she doesn’t want or need his help, thank you very much. She’s still stinging from his rejection after their night together, and refuses to marry him based on some duty or obligation. She wants a man who loves her, not just one who’s determined to do the “right” thing.
Yet as Charity’s pregnancy progresses, Trey realizes he can’t live without her, and he’ll do all he can to convince her they were meant to be.

Wow. What a wonderful read.
First you have Trey and Charity who have known each other all her life, since he’s her brother’s best friend. Well, they have both grown up and now the crush she had as a teen is still there. Charity needs Trey to go with her to see if the horse she wants is a good deal. Trey is surprised that Charity would ask for help since she rarely asks for it.
Trey has always had a crush on her, but refused to act on it because of Austin, his best friend. Well, Trey wants to put her in the friend zone, but he can’t because he really, really wants her.
Charity is independent, sassy, and thinks she doesn’t need help with anything, but when things get heated after going to get her horse, and they fall into bed together, she gets pregnant.
Trey wants to do the right thing and Charity just wants a man who loves her for her and the baby, not one who is doing the “Right Thing”.
Will they admit that the right thing is the way to go, or will they really admit that they love each other?
This is my honest opinion and freely given.
A story about young woman who grew up crushing on the best friend of her big brother. Frustrated, Charity asks Trey to go to a horse auction with her.
And that is just the beginning. I really enjoyed the natural progression of their interactions, even though I found myself screaming at them occasionally. They had an interesting journey to their happily ever after.

Oh the mistakes he makes!!!
The Cowboy’s Mistake by Mary Sue Jackson was a bit of a tough one for me to get through. The story started off interesting as a contemporary cowboy romance with a baby mistake. But the H was a Grade A ass towards the h which I had a hard time with. His mistake was not in the making of a baby but in the way he treats his baby mama. But than again the h is seems was determined to trap him, or at least that is how it seemed. Further on in the book I did find myself rooting for the two of them to get their stuff straightened out and get a HEA, which of course eventually happens.
After reading The Cowboy’s Mistake I was a bit confused as to how I should feel about the story and the characters. So I am in the middle, neither hating nor loving it. If you love Mary Sue Jackson/Leslie North cowboy books then you may well love this one also. But to me it is not her finest story.

Trey is going to have to court her and prove his feelings for Charity to believe him after how he treated her. Can they find their way back to each other?
This is a great story that will draw you in from the first chapter. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

An emotional second chance romance.
Charity has been in love with Trey since they were kids but since Trey is her brother, Austin’s, best friend. What she doesn’t know is that he’s been in love with her for almost as long as she’s been in love with him. After finally giving in to the passion between them, Trey wakes up regretting it and ends up breaking Charity’s heart and her trust. But that one night between them has consequences and Trey opens his mouth one more time. This time, Charity says enough and tells him that not only will she not marry him but she wants him to back off. It takes Trey a long time but he finally gets what she means and convinces her that he loves her too.
As much as I loved this story, there were times I wanted to just smack Trey up alongside his head for being so bull-headed.

The Cowboy’s Mistake by Mary Sue Jackson is a contemporary western romance which takes place between Charity and Trey. Charity has had a crush since she was a little girl. Trey only noticed her in high school but has had sense enough to stay away from his best friend’s little sister. Charity needs a new horse as hers is getting too old to barrel race. Trey is the best horse trainer and judge of horseflesh around so she invites him to come to the auction with her and help her choose a horse. She has other designs on their night out of town, as well. Try didn’t bite, but he did get her the horse of her dreams, for a price well below what she had planned to pay. He needs to train her. She has been mishandled and only he can fix it. Charity joins him daily to work on her horse. One day, all of her dreams are fulfilled with Trey, and the next day her walks away. They were at an impasse and probably would have stayed that way if she hadn’t become pregnant during their brief affair. Now the soup was boiling over. She wanted nothing to do with him. He wanted everything to do with her.
An enchanting story of a man who can’t listen when a woman speaks and if he does, he misinterprets what she says. She loves him. He loves her. He is bossy. She is not going to put up with it. Chaos ensues. Charity is today’s woman. She is funny, independent, emotional, and afraid. How can she take care of herself and her child? There is a question that has been asked a million times. She is strong-willed and talented. And she lays it all out there for all to see. I loved this character. She is who you want your daughter to be, and more. Trey is a good guy, well-written, but blind. He tries, and he slowly learns. Will there be a future for this family?

This is a well-written cowboy romance, Charity has loved her brother’s best friend, Trey since forever and he’s attracted to her but they have firmly done nothing in fear of family drama. Now, all grown up and determined to show him she’s an adult, now pregnant and wanting him to love her for her not the babies. I initially didn’t enjoy the story but the more I read, the more I got into the story. Glad they got their own HEA.
This is a sweetly heartwarming, witty, action packed, page turning journey is filled with engaging charters, emotional thrills and undeniable passion….. was a excellent reading experience and hard to put down. An adventure that entertained from beginning to end.
Trey has been attracted to Charity for years but he never acted on it because the Millers were like family and Charity’s big brother, Austin, is his best friend. Charity has loved Trey since she was a teen but she can not get him to show any interest in her.
One night Trey and Charity act upon their feelings. The next day Trey opened his mouth and says the wrong thing.
Can Trey and Charity find a HEA or will keep making mistakes at every turn.

Written with so much heart.
Trey and Charity have known each other for years. Trey wants to get them friends but there is attraction and because these are two healthy adults things progress. Then Trey is a bit of a jerk and seemed to act all guilty. Then the tricky little thing called fate caused some major challenges for them. The only question is will Charity give him a break or give him hell? This is a lovely story written with so much heart. That is what I love about Ms. Jackson and Ms. North both talented writers and I just love their books. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Trey and Charity’s story was entertaining, even if the whole “Bro Code” theme is a little out-dated and overused. There was wonderful chemistry between the couple that could definitely not be denied, but I respected Charity’s determination to ensure that her future held love and devotion, not simple a relationship forged by obligation and duty. Overall, this was a good read, and there were some funny moments when the baby shopping commenced. I look forward Mary Sue Jackson’s next story.
It’ll grow on you
I cannot tell a lie – three chapters in, I HATED The Cowboy’s Mistake with a purple and green passion. I was stuck reading this ARC about a cowboy who refused to admit that he loved his childhood friend, and the friend, a barrel racing-rodeo girl determined to rope said cowboy and tie him up for life. Jeez! I thought these two were totally immature, bird-brained, crush-afflicted throwbacks to high school in the 1970s. I wasn’t interested in his big muscles or her man-bait wardrobe; I wanted to read an ADULT romance, with adult characters, grumble, grumble, grump… But a promise is a promise, so I clenched my jaw and read on. And somewhere along the way, writer Mary Sue Jackson snared me. It WAS an adult romance, only they did it all bass-backwards. She finagled her way into a favor, a “working relationship, a dinner and a dance. They slept together, he freaked out and said The Wrong Thing, she flapped her ruffled tail feathers home in a huff, and soon discovered she was preggers. But the cowboy with Foot-In-Mouth disease and the Princess of Righteous Indignation surprised me – and everyone in the book, because… They grew up. This is a real love story after all! And it’s honest and believable and just absolutely beautiful. I found myself caring, cheering for them when they got it right, despairing when they made the same old mistakes AGAIN, even tearing up when they finally got it together. This is a great book with great characters and good storytelling, and an HEA that doesn’t depend on magic or insta-lust – just solid gold love.
The Cowboy’s Mistake
Trey had been attracted to his best friend Austin’s little sister Charity for a few years. He would never betray the family’s trust by acting on the attraction, would he?
Charity had been drawn to Trey for years. However, he had ignored her and treated her like a kid sister. What if Charity sets Trey up? A last ditch effort to get him to notice her! What happens next could be considered a blessing or a curse.
What is an independent woman expecting twin girls going to do when her alpha male has to learn how to take no as an answer?
An enjoyable, passionate, engaging, and emotionally deep romance. It is a well written and well developed page-turner with drama, witty banter, humour, twists, and ups and downs. The characters you will love; they are sweet, endearing, and perfect for each other. This book will grab a hold of your heart from the first page and never let go. A Must Read!

Charity Miller has loved Trey Canter since she was a kid but she no longer is a kid and she wants him but right now she needs him to help her buy a new horse for barrel racing. Trey has known Charity was a little girl anymore when she hit 11th grade a came home with all those curves and a womans body but she’s his best friends sister so that makes her off limits right?
When the finally figure out they are adults they both make a mess of things that neither of them may ever be able to right.
It’s really a good book so worth the read, there are parts that will have you laughing and making your heart feel for each of these characters.
This is a sweet read about Charity and Trey who have liked each other for years some more obviously than others. What starts as Charity’s chance to finally get close to Trey by getting him to come help her buy a horse ends up with a surprise pregnancy and Trey and Charity to work through the mine field of emotions, their future and their feelings for each other. There are plenty of highs and lows along with some good laughs and a worry or two so thankfully Charity’s parent are cool, calm and collect otherwise it would be a lot of mayhem lol
