No man should be as sexy as Trey Cantor when he’s mucking out a horse stall. But then again, there’s no man quite like Trey. Charity has known Trey all her life, but she can still appreciate a fine-looking man when she sees one, and Trey is far more to Charity than just a fine-looking man. He may have always seen her as his best friend’s little sister, but Charity’s all grown up and her crush on … her crush on Trey has grown up too. If only she could get him to see her as a woman.
During a trip to buy Charity’s new barrel-racing horse, Trey’s floored—and a bit horrified—by how attracted he is to her. He wants to put her firmly in the friend zone, but his body disagrees. And when they get home, that attraction ignites all the way to the bedroom, leaving Trey riddled with guilt the morning after. He feels he’s betrayed the family who made his life bearable when he was young and dealing with a drunken, violent father. But what Trey is convinced was a mistake turns into so much more when Charity finds out she’s pregnant—with twins. Now, he’ll do right by her and support his children. He’ll take care of Charity, like he’s always done.
The only thing is, Charity insists she doesn’t want or need his help, thank you very much. She’s still stinging from his rejection after their night together, and refuses to marry him based on some duty or obligation. She wants a man who loves her, not just one who’s determined to do the “right” thing.
Yet as Charity’s pregnancy progresses, Trey realizes he can’t live without her, and he’ll do all he can to convince her they were meant to be.

This story had lots of emotions. I laughed, had tears in my eyes and was left with a smile. I absolutely loved Trey and Charity’s story. This is a new author to me and I look forward to more of her books.
This was a good brother’s best friend’s romance and is Charity and Trey’s story. She has been crushing on him for years but thinks he will never see her as anything more than her brother’s little sister but little does she know that since she has grown up he is attracted to her but does not was to do anything to upset her family after they have been so good to him. So she comes up with a plan will it work?
Confusing things happen when you don’t communicate. Trey had a difficult childhood and spent a lot of time at Charity’s house. He is her brother Austin’s best friend. That didn’t stop her from having a super big crush on him. He has wanted her for a long time but she was off limits. No messing with the bros sister! Well, after going with her to buy a horse, things get hot and steamy fast. In their haste they were not careful and she has a souvenir from the encounter. He wants to be involved in raising his child and wants to marry her. He thinks they made a mistake and she will only marry for love. Lots of trials and tribulations. Nicely written and very enjoyable read!

This was a lot longer than I anticipated but the story kept flowing so it didn’t feel like it. It didn’t drag though. I love how Charity knew what she wanted and was adamant that she didn’t Trey. A little hardheaded but love her friendship with Layla and how Layla was her voice of reason. Love the chemistry between Trey and Charity and how they found a way to work through their issues. The ending was just perfect. I would love to see Layla and Austin possibly get a story as I could tell there was a little easter egg thrown in there and I am hoping it’s because they will have their own story.

Mistake? This cowboy makes plenty of them!
The Cowboy’s Mistake by Mary Sue Jackson is a well written fast paced book of the unrequited love of two very stubborn people. Trey is a the ultimate alpha cowboy with misplaced guilt which leads to mistake after mistake when it comes to Charity. Charity is clearly a fiercely independent woman who finds herself constantly furious with the man who should be the love of her life.
I really enjoyed the plot of this book; the journey Trey and Charity take to finally and truly understand one another so that love can blossom and facilitate their budding relationship and growing family. The chemistry between them is fiery and often combusts whenever these two are in close proximity of one another.
Overall, a wonderful romance with a surprise times two that creates a really sweetly endearing and adorable HEA.
I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
