This cowboy romance was about second chances and learning to forgive and move forward. This story is part of the “Sweetheart Ranch” series but can be read as a stand alone book.
Tanner and Jewel end up working at the same ranch a year after they called off the wedding due to a big scandal. As they work together, secrets continue to unfold as they try to work on their relationship for the sake of their daughter.
This story was emotional, real and heart breaking at times but well worth reading. Relationships are hard but when adding family drama, lies, secrets and children; it can be very overwhelming and easy to just give up.
I liked reading about the ranch, barrel racing and the horses. The setting of the book was beautiful and I especially loved that it centered around the holidays. I really enjoyed it!

This was a wonderful story. I so enjoyed reading this. I was captivated right from the beginning. One year ago, Tanner gave up his bull riding career to protect his brother. His life fell apart at the seams as a consequence. Just days from getting married to Jewel, his barrel-racing fiancée, she tells him to leave and not to come back. While working at Powell Ranch as the assistant barn manager, Jewel comes back into his life unexpectedly. She is there trying to restart her barrel-racing career or turn her photography hobby into her career. Jewel gave birth to their daughter, Ava four months prior. The many difficult situations that these two go through is very heart-wrenching at times.
This was written in such a manner that I could really picture everything happens just like in a movie instead of a book. I loved returning to Sweetheart Ranch. Seeing the prior characters was a joy. It was almost like catching up with old friends.
There were times when Jewel seemed a little selfish, demanding and not too compassionate towards Tanner’s situation. But I could totally understand where she was coming from. I felt the author did a fantastic job as I was really into the plight of these two.
This book was written in my favorite dual POV format. It was really necessary for me to read into Jewel’s thoughts to really understand her. Her position on Tanner’s situation was one that I personally didn’t agree with (yes, I sided with the handsome fictional male character!) But seeing where she was coming from made her more human as she wasn’t a perfect character.
This was a sweet, clean second chance romance. I would highly recommend this story to anyone especially if you LOVE cowboys!!!
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
A bull riding scandal ruined Jewel and Tanners life, and they never expected to see each other again. But even when their jobs brought them back together, it was so much between them, it would never work out. But then there was this little surprise that Jewel had kept from Tanner.
Another sweet heartwarming story from author Cathy McDavid. Both characters were right at home around a barn with the horses, bull riding, barrel racing lessons. I enjoyed all of the full details about the horses, and the different tricks they could do. Even down to the importance of checking out everything thoroughly before the race or practices begin. As well as how there are scandals in the sports too, though it’s sad to ruin a career over something so stupid. There were so many more vivid details that will get you into the horseracing sport, and I appreciate learning a bit about the sport.
The characters seemed so read to me, as they went about their everyday lives. And as the story unfolds, it did well to keep my interest. There was enough going on in the story till the very end too keep me reading. It’s nice to read stories that talk of getting ready for the Christmas Holiday, and the families getting together. These were more scenes that I enjoyed. The author clearly researched her story and did a very nice job of creating this story. If you are looking for a nice, clean Christmas read, this is one you will enjoy.

4 1/2 STARS!
This emotional journey of forgiveness will catch your attention quickly! With the third book in her The Sweetheart Ranch series, Cathy McDavid brings us THE COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS BABY … a reunion story between two former rodeo contenders.
We are instantly intrigued on the story behind single mother Jewel. She’s got a tiny baby by her side as she journeys into the unknown to try to find where she belongs. She’s quickly thrown into a tailspin when the man she thought was gone for good turns up in her new town.
Tanner and Jewel’s story is very complex. She thought she knew him, then was thrown for a loop by the turn of events that turned their lives upside down. Now confronted with the fact that they have a baby together and that there might be more to the story than she ever thought, they have to venture into a world of unknown and decide how to move forward. Both side had a powerful story and opinion on what was right … and I was definitely moved by both plights.
I recommend this book to anyone loving a sweet romance filled with emotional strife and secrets to uncover. Really enjoyed their story!
Cathy McDavid has absolutely done it again! She has created a wonderful, heart warming novel that is perfect for the Christmas romance lovers! She creates fantastic plot lines, throws in yummy cowboys, and beautiful women and lots of surprises along the way.
Jewel and Tanner’s characters were absolutely wonderful. They were filled with flaws, yet were flawless. Their story is filled with heartache and pain, secrets and one cute baby! I absolutely loved watching their story unfold. I didn’t know who I was falling harder for…..Tanner, or sweet baby Ava! But, as the secrets unfold, it quickly became apparent that baby Ava was going to win my heart over.
McDavid is a fantastic author and this is another 4 star hit by her talented hands. I know with every novel I pick up by her, I will be in for a roller coaster ride and lots of romantic fun! This book had me up late into the night turning page after page. This is an unforgettable, heart warming holiday read and has me wanting to put up my tree now. Run, don’t walk, and grab this one up!

What happens when family loyalty and the truth collide? Well in Tanner Bridwell’s case he loses his reputation, job as a bull rider, and the love of his life and unbeknownst to him, his baby girl. Jewel Saunders has come back to town with her baby girl Ava to see about restarting her barrel racing career or becoming a photographer. Either way she hopes not to run into Tanner her ex-fiancé.
I really enjoyed their first meet again after a year, and when Tanner found out he had a baby girl- priceless. Now Tanner begins rethinking his loyalty to his family after a pretty big lie and the fall he took to protect them. Tanner now has something more to live for, if only Jewel would give him another chance. Jewel, however, has had to live with the fallout of that lie while Tanner disappeared. And Jewel is pretty big on truthfulness as anyone should be.
Jewel was sometimes harder on Tanner than she should have been, but I understood why. She really was trying to protect herself and their daughter. I liked how very much Tanner loved his family, but really enough was enough. I wanted him to come clean and deal with the consequences. I think more than anything Jewel was hurt the most about the lie.
This was a sweet second chance romance with a solid history behind these two. I did like watching them fall in love again. This was a nice little holiday read.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby is a very cute book, and it’s a perfect read for the holidays. I read the first book in this series, A Cowboy’s Christmas Proposal, last year around this time. Somehow, I missed the second book, so I’ll be going back to read that soon. If you haven’t read the others, no worries! You can absolutely read this as a stand alone.
If you love sweet, cute cowboys, you’ll fall in love with Tanner. He is the epitome of the perfect guy. Tanner is kind and understanding, and he makes sacrifices for the people he loves. One thing that really stood out to me about Tanner is the fact that he is very patient with Jewel who could be really immature at times. Of course, she would be anxious about having Tanner babysit since she doesn’t know his experience with babies. However, when it came to issues with his family, it seemed like she wanted her own way more than she wanted to be patient and understanding herself. I think things like that come with age and maturity, and I may have been that way too when I was younger.
Of course, being a sweet clean Christmas romance book, The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby has a happily ever after. I think you’ll love Tanner and Jewel’s story. Read it this Christmas!
My goodness!!! I have enjoyed this Sweetheart Ranch series a lot, but the author absolutely knocked one out of the park with this newest story! I love second chance romances and this one was especially wonderful.
The author crafted the perfect amount of tension between Tanner and Jewel. I loved the way Tanner immediately wanted to be part of his baby’s life and how both of these characters behaved as adults in trying to work through things for the good of their daughter.
This book was a joy to read from start to finish, and I recommend it even to those who have not read the first two books in the series. It can be read as a stand alone novel. And the epilogue at the end was the perfect finishing touch to the story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Cathy McDavid welcomes readers back to The Sweetheart Ranch in Arizona. The family-run wedding venue has become so popular, the owners are seeking an in-house photographer. And the person who applies for the job is Jewel Saunders. It’s the best of both worlds for Jewel.
For Tanner and Jewel, no matter the choice they make, someone they love is going to get hurt. Tanner lives by the cowboy code and will stand up for his family no matter the consequences. Jewel wants the truth revealed in order to move forward in her relationship. Throw in custody of the baby and things steer toward the ugly for a little while.
The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby proves that relationships are difficult, and that compromise is necessary to sustain said relationship. Sure, Jewel got annoying insisting on her way sometimes, but in the end, she realizes what’s most important to her and her own culpability in the situation.
Plus, there’s this big, handsome ex-bull rider whose four-month-old daughter has him wrapped around her teeny-tiny fingers, and that is worth picking up this book to read about.

The Cowboys Christmas baby
I really enjoyed this book. Tanner finds out he is a father after the baby is a few months old. Tanner and Jewel had been out of contact with each other for a while. They both are working at the sweetheart ranch to make new start. Tanner was a champion bull rider and Jewel was a barrel racer.
The book not only involves Tanner and Jewel relationship but the secret he is keeping. Tanner family plays a big part in the book.
I definitely recommend reading this book. It is book three of a series but is a stand alone. I love reading stories based on a ranch. I never lived on one but just fun to read about.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author through Prism book tours. This book review is my own opinion.
The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby is a sweet, clean and heartwarming romance. I loved getting to know Tanner and Jewel. I thought they had great chemistry and was rooting for them. I enjoyed watching them grow throughout the book. Such a great story of forgiveness and second chances.
