Can love bloom between a woman who was forced to sell herself and the man who bought her to get her ranch?
Previously titled Cowboys Don’t Buy Their Bride at Auction
Roxane Peterson is up for auction. Well, her and her ranch. She knew it would be too much to hope for that the man who bought her would be more interested in her than in the property, and money, that came with her. But she’s been … more interested in her than in the property, and money, that came with her. But she’s been down this road before – a marriage that isn’t perfect. Her only concern now is protecting her son and making sure she keeps her independence.
Boone Stryker is disillusioned and restless. Seeing a ranch, and a woman, up for auction challenges his soul and gives him a reason to live again. He risks everything he owns to win the ranch. But in order to win the lady’s heart, he could lose so much more.
Trigger Warning: This book contains sensitive content, not graphic, for anyone who has lost a child. It also contains a “fade to black” scene between an unmarried couple, necessary for the plot.
Reviews for The Cowboy’s Bargain Bride:
★★★★★ “Gussman writes the best heroes. Boone is just yummy. Roxanne is a bit prickly and stand-offish, but honestly, in order to claim her birthright she had to endure being sold at auction, so she had cause.” – Charlene
★★★★★ “This was a stirring emotional journey with love; heartache and learning their hearts and mind’s about each other. Truly enjoyed this story and characters.” – Judi
★★★★★ “Jessie Gussman never disappoints. Good character development and heartfelt story line. I look forward to reading more of her stories.” – Jo
★★★★★ “Talk about hitting the ground running! This book starts off with a bang and just keeps going! I had a difficult time putting it down. (1:30 am rolled around and I forced myself to stop, only to pick it up the next morning to finish!)” – Ballet in AK
★★★★★ “While this author does present Godly principals and even a scripture or three this doesn’t feel like a bible thumping book. This author writes a story that takes you on the trip right along with it like a spectator. You will laugh and in this case might even tear up a little as events unfold. It’s always fun to see what these cowboys will do next.” – Teri

I really enjoy all Jessie Gussman books and this is one of her best. Expect your emotions to get involved and to find yourself trying to give the characters advice.
I absolutely loved this book! I loved the characters – Roxanne and Boone are quirky, lovable characters and it was so sweet to watch them get together. The story was well written and unpredictable. I listened to the audible version of this book. The narrator, Jay Dyess, does a great job with varying voices and using great inflection to keep you drawn in as the story unfold. Definitely recommend.

I have really enjoyed these SweetWater Ranch books. This is a really good one. It seems every one I read I think it may be better than the last. Jessie Gussman writes great stories and Jay Dyess brings them to life with his awesome narration. I can’t seem to get enough of the Sweetwater clan.
This one features Boone and Roxy. Their story is gives you all kinds of feels but it makes you wish you could have a sweet caring gentlemen like Boone even though sometimes he makes Roxy so mad.
A must read and in my case a must listen to on Audible. I really have enjoyed the audio books of this series.
The Cowboy’s Bargain Bride is an unusual story full of strange circumstances that pull Boone and Roxie together into a marriage that Boone is determined to be more than a marriage of convenience. Like the story in the Bible of David and Bathsheba, Roxie had coaxed Boone into something he immediately regretted doing as it was against his morals and the way he was taught to treat women the night of Clay’s wedding. But even though they could not get each other off their minds, their little sin was about to become known to the entire town. Roxie talks to Boone hateful and he always is so kind and nice to her that she sees what a good man he is and they both start pulling to make the most of their marriage no matter if it means loosing her family ranch and the money from her Uncle’s will. This book does leave us hanging as it brings up a call that Boone’s friend Abner gets at the end where he is having to decide if he will go back to his hometown for his Grandmother’s funeral and to see what is going on with someone he used to know 10 years ago.
This was a very unique storyline and I loved it! I couldn’t keep from turning the pages (or rather, swiping on my kindle app). My stomach was twisted up in knots almost the whole times as I was on pins and needles about all of the happenings. So much happened in this book between the mains and it was incredible. I’m super excited for Abner’s story next.
Audio:
So unique but well done. Some difficult stuff in here and very well portrayed in this audio. Another impressive listen. I totally binged it in one day!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is another wonderful story! I like that it is a standalone but we meet up with some old friends. The situation is different but the happily ever after is there after a wonderful story!
I received an advance copy of this book and I voluntarily wrote an honest review.
This is easily the craziest plot twist of the series, but we knew it was coming from the last two bucks. Although it was the most out-there plot – the author and did a great job I’m really making this premise into something heartwarming. I felt for both bun and Roxy and I even cried and got so emotional. These two really captured my heart – especially boom. He turned out to be so much more than what we saw in the last book. I feel like these two are going to stick with me for a while. I can’t quite put my finger on why I was so moved by this one
Cowboys Don’t Buy Their Bride at Auction by Jessie Gussman (5 stars)
Talk about hitting the ground running! This book starts off with a bang and just keeps going! I had a difficult time putting it down. (1:30 am rolled around and I forced myself to stop, only to pick it up the next morning to finish!)
It is book 8 in a series, and although it could stand alone, there are many references to people from other books…as well as a mild spoiler or two. I strongly suggest you read the others first, then this one will have more meaning.
Ms. Gussman is able to create characters that I truly care about. I feel like her pacing is just about perfect. She has angst, but never drags it out too long, as some romances are wont to do. I like that the timing of her couple’s love developing feels unrushed.
This book is a wonderful story of how God takes our sin and turns it around to our good. The H and h have some serious issues to overcome. I like that they aren’t perfect, that they are trying to be good and that they both feel true remorse for their sin, but then pray to God and listen to the answers He gives.
There is some cowboy culture that I didn’t know about and that made for some informative moments as the H considers what formed him into a man. It’s fun to watch as he starts to teach the little boy to do grown-up things. There is no question that he will be an amazing dad as the years go by.
Some beautifully touching images of heaven and what our hero hopes for someday in regards to a lost loved one. (I had tears in my eyes as I read it, I was so moved.)
Wonderful characters, wonderful writing, wonderful feeling at the end of the book.
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
Boone Stryker had his eye set on the Sweet Water Ranch and now it was up for auction, along with the ranch’s owner, Roxane Peterson. He had met Roxane at his brother’s wedding reception. He had thought that she was a beauty and their line dancing lesson had turned into something more. The problem was he didn’t know her name until later. He wanted the ranch and her but she had told him she was getting married. He wasn’t going to get the way but he really wanted the ranch and the woman.
There was more than just the ranch to keep Boone around. As time moved on, he wanted Roxane more than he wanted to ranch and was willing to give it all up if he could keep her as his wife. Did she feel the same or would this marriage not pass the upcoming test?
I really enjoyed this story and I loved how kind and gentle Boone was. I was annoyed at how Roxane treated him sometimes. I know her former marriage had left scars on her heart, but Boone was nothing like her ex. While she knew that, she just couldn’t seem to help herself, at times. There was a happy ending that I was glad about.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review. I have read several of this author’s books and haven’t read one yet that I didn’t enjoy very much. I’m looking forward to Abner’s story.
Can a cowboy and a bride he bought at an auction experience real, abiding love? Boone is an excellent protagonist who loves God and has always done what is right but has a time of failing to follow his beliefs. Roxanne was married to a playboy and doesn’t really trust men. Roxanne is being place on the auction block in order to save the family ranch. You will enjoy contemporary cowboy story!I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
“Cowboys Don’t Buy Their Bride at Auction” by Jessie Gussman was a wonderful read. Very different and yet similar to the others in the series. Just as much heart, rich characters, natural dialogue, interesting plot. But this one started a little different. Difficult situation handled with grace. Amazing series. I read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Roxie wasn’t very likable at first. She had an attitude and acted affronted because Boone said he wanted to bid in the auction for her uncle’s ranch, not realizing she was the woman he would have to marry after she seduced him. He was great with Spencer wanting him to be involved with helping out at the ranch. However, I was surprised about the pocketknife and that he was ok with fighting in school. That could get him expelled. It was great to catch up with the characters from the previous books in the series and what’s happened in their lives. Boone’s brother Clay “Preacher” has a lot of great guys on his crew and it will be interesting to read their stories and who they romance.
The funny man gets serious as Boon finds his hea. Every since he was a boy he wanted Sweet Water Ranch and now it was being auctioned and maybe just maybe he had a chance. She only allowed herself to be auctioned so her brother would go and marry the girl of his dreams now she was having second thoughts. Not one of the men had even asked after her, no one cared she was just a side piece to the land, that was all they cared about. But make plans God laughs or should I just say I bet they’re glad God has a sense of humor because he must have laughed after the way it all worked out. Neither knew how much it would mean to them and Roxie still wasn’t sure it could be true. Would he walk away from the ranch to have her?
Sometimes we forget that we aren’t in control and if we think we are that if we let go and let God, He can make it work out better than we imagined. While this author does present Godly principals and even a scripture or three this doesn’t feel like a bible thumping book. This author writes a story that takes you on the trip right along with it like a spectator. You will laugh and in this case might even tear up a little as events unfold. It’s always fun to see what these cowboys will do next. This is a great read that will give you the inspiration you need with a story that doesn’t get buried under that weight, instead one that is enhanced.
I like Jessie Gussman books. The romance stories are between good, hardworking men and women who find the love that they desire. This book has an unusual premise for the marriage, but I like the characters and the story line. Mrs. Gussman tells an excellent story and her characters are very likable. I think we can all relate to their feelings. I recommend this book.
I enjoyed Cowboys Don’t Buy Their Bride at Auction. The characters are wonderful and have great chemistry together. The plot is interesting and flows well to keep you interested. This book is a wonderful sweet romance story.
Cowboys Don’t Buy Their Bride at Auction is another awesome romance from Jessie Gussman. All these Sweet Water Ranch cowboy books have been great. This one is really unique. It grabbed my attention and let me do nothing but read until I finished! If you enjoy sweet, clean unique, well written romances with wonderful characters, then read this book!
I had an ARC copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Jessie has done it again….each book in this series gets better and better. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this latest book. The Characters are wonderful and the plot is interesting with twists and problems all around.
Once I began reading this story, I couldn’t put it down. It dealt with difficult and raw emotions, but was beautiful and compelling. No one is immune to mistakes, and this story is a story of hope and God’s redemption in the aftermath.
Boone was a little bruised when Angela wouldn’t marry him after his brother Clay had rejected her. He lost a little faith in women.
Then, a chance encounter with a New York socialite left him wondering if he could trust his heart to someone else. The problem was, she was marrying someone else.
When the opportunity comes to buy the ranch of his dreams, at auction, he decides he might just make a bid, even if a wife comes with the acreage. After all, he has been rejected twice by the women who caught eye. A marriage of convenience might just be the thing.
He soon finds out that marriage is anything but convenient, but that God always has a plan.
I received this book as an ARC and I am voluntarily giving a review.
An amazing well written standalone romance within a terrific series. This engaging read was unique and interesting where total opposites with an instant attraction with wrench thrown into the mix look to find a HEA. A entertaining and addicting heartwarming journey as the courtship comes after the I do’s. The character’s are realistic and well developed with chemistry and passion as they follow God’s path. The epilogue engages you in seeing a glimpse of what to expect next in the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
An unusual story of love and heartache beginning with the bride being sold with the Sweet Water Ranch according to her uncle’s will. I really liked Boone Stryker and Roxie Peterson. They are complete opposites sharing a bond that brings them together at the auction. I really enjoyed seeing if they would be able to weather their personal storms to make their marriage successful through what God had planned for them and their family. What a great new story in the Sweet Water Ranch Billionaire Cowboys series and so different from the other books in the series too. I received an advanced copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
