The second book in the Texas Heroes series a well written Western story that kept me turning pages. This is Glory Day who is losing her vision, and Former Texas Ranger Luke McClain do not meet in the best of circumstances she shoots him by mistake. I found myself smiling as I read. This is a new Author to me and I want to read more by her. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Great book, loved the characters and want to read more books by this author!

After reading and enjoying the first book in the Texas Heroes series, I knew I wanted to get my hands on Luke’s book. I probably have mentioned it a couple of times, but I am going to do it again: Historical Western Romances are my not-so-guilty pleasures. I have devoured hundreds of them already, and still can’t get enough of them. However, I am pickier with my choices. Let’s get back to this book. I enjoyed it but didn’t love it as much as the first book. The characters were great and I loved all the different personalities shown in the book. The main female character Glory is a very strong and independent woman, who is providing for her two younger sisters and mother. There was just so much weight on her shoulders. Then there is Luke, who was introduced in the previous book. Who is a former Texas Ranger and has a couple of unfinished business.
I loved how Glory and Luke met. She is definitely NOT a woman who you want to mess with. Luke was very mysterious towards Glory and her family, but he was an expert in getting in everyone’s good graces except Glory’s. She was suspicious of him and did her best to keep a wall between them. There was some misunderstandings that could’ve been resolved if they just talked it out. But I can’t blame Glory for keeping her feelings to herself, she didn’t want to put herself out there to be turned down. I enjoyed the banter between Glory and her youngest sister Patience. She was just such a sassy young girl. She was hilarious and had Luke wrapped around her finger. What I loved the most was the development of the relationship between Glory and Luke. The author took her time to have these two get to know each other. However, in the end it was a bit rushed and there was no epilogue which left me wanting more. Nonetheless, this was a very enjoyable and solid historical romance with great characters. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
A compelling story about families, tough times & the power of love. Glory Marie Day and her sisters are mesmerizing but Glory definitely leads the pack! She’s a perfect mixture of tough but vulnerable. She faces more than her fair share of challenges but although they may get her down for a while, she never gives up. It didn’t take long before I was rooting for Glory as wholeheartedly as if I were one of her sisters. Then along comes Luke McClain and I found another character to love. The setting sucked me in as well. This is one heck of a great read.
Twenty year old Glory Day is struggling to keep her family together. Her father is in prison for a crime he did not commit, her mother has not been in her right mind since he has been gone, there has been a drought destroying their crops, she is having vision problems and the bank has called in their mortgage. She sees a Wanted Poster with a $500 reward for Mad Dog Perkins and goes after the man. However, former Ranger Luke McCain is also after the wanted man, who has information on who planted stolen money in his saddle bag, resulting him being forced out of the Rangers. Glory accidentally shoots Luke instead of Perkins and brings him back to the farm.
Neither planned to fall in love. Too much danger and intrigue for that. But despite all, they do. Appealing characters who are ready to sacrifice their happiness and goals for others and a strong story line. An easy to-read-page turner with a HEA.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a wonderful story. I cried in several spots. The story just was realistic and haunting. I truly felt for Glory. She was truly inspirational. The story telling was such that you could picture the scenes like it was a movie. The characters were fantastic. I have to go back and read the first story of this series. I was disappointed to see the end of the story as I was so engrossed in it that I didn’t want it to end. I feel like I was leaving friends behind! I so highly recommend this story to anyone.
This had everything I envision in a perfect romance. That it is a western romance made it all the better. Handsome, strong and tough, gritty cowboy heroes. Beautiful, equally strong, smart, equally gritty heroines. A beautifully written, flowing storyline that was as quick to make you laugh as turn right around and make you cry. Love and loss, fear, joy, hate, evil, good and faith: Linda Broday masterfully nailed it within these pages. I will end by quoting a reference made by Linda, “Texas Rangers are synonymous with justice, compassion and dedication.” Linda Broday is to western romance what the Texas Rangers are to law enforcement, past to present-simply the best.
